About the property

Just 30 minutes from Hobart Airport, Phoenix Farm is a 60 acre property on the main road to Port Arthur. Start your Tassie holiday with us, or finish your stay in our part of the world in the comfort of our studio with beautiful water views and fantastic food..

The guest area is well appointed with Beautiful Bay views, a luxury spa bath, and private balcony.

You have the top floor of the main farm house with shared facilities including kitchen below.

We provide a delightful breakfast in our farm house kitchen.

If that is not enough, the major appeal is that we cook both dinner and breakfast, with a coastal/country flavour to the menu, using local seafood, or lamb, beef or pork from our farm, this must be arranged in advance for a one night stay, and discuss further options for additional nights.

Please note pricing is based upon up to 2 guests for 1 night, families are invited to discuss pricing options for children.

A beautiful property and Mike is a generous host.

  • 5 of 5

We were greeted on arrival by Mike and immediately felt welcome. Fresh biscuits baking for us, the fire was lit and house was warm and welcoming. Mike cooked dinner, dessert and breakfast for us and I have to say the meals he cooks are AMAZING! The house and rooms are beautifully presented and he was happy to chat with us or leave us to do our own thing. The gardens are absolutely beautiful! During our exploring of the gardens we got to meet Terry the turkey and he happily to followed us around the gardens like a puppy. Dinner was the best meal we have eaten on our tassie holiday. The bed was also the most comfortable on our trip. The photos are a exactly what you can expect from this amazing property. Would love to stay again!

Comfortable homely farmhouse accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Having spent 5 nights at Mike & Noel's farm stay accommodation, we both wholeheartedly and unreservedly endorse this is a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing experience which has allowed us both to de-stress and rejuvenate. There exists a subliminal harmony created by the fusion of tranquil surroundings and the hobby farm menagerie. The hospitality and warmth exuded by our hosts was palpable and comforting. We opted to test Mike's culinary abilities/endurance by requesting from him a 3 course dinner for the duration. As a reputable restaurateur in his former life, Mike prepared for us a sumptuous meal without fail - we strongly urge others to tax his abilities. He thrives on the challenge.

Often the most unexpected and exquisite delights arise from the ashes of despair. This experience is cherished and we shall return.

Beautiful room and service!

  • 5 of 5

Okay where to start. My family and I weren't 100% sure what we would find when we booked a farm stay accommodation. Not only were we gobsmacked by the view from our modern a comfortable room balcony, but more so by the hosts. Mike was very accommodating and what a cook! The food was top notch and we certainly weren't left hungry. Everything was made from local or farm produce and the presentation was superb! If you are heading down to Southern Tasmania we could not recommend this place enough. Well done Mike and Noel! Cheers!

Owner's Response: Thank you folks, we are accustomed to so many over seas and interstate travellers it is refreshing and delightful when we have local Tassie visitors come to stay and enjoy our home grown hospitality... We warmly appreciate your comments about how you found the accommodation and our our farm cuisine.. Good to know there are a few surprises still left to discover in the South!!!

Every now and again we need to meet the Mike King's of the world to remind us of what a good quality 'humility' is. From the warm welcome, to the gorgeous cottage overlooking the bay, to the best seafood dinner we've ever had ! (and we've eaten in many restaurants in many countries). The quality of the food, the taste, it was faultless. We just cannot recommend this place highly enough. The host is genuine, humble, hard working, generous - this way of being does not have to have a title. Now and again through our travels we come across something like this, that we appreciate so much and it is a gentle reminder of how lucky we are. And it's not something you forget. This is one of those moments for us. Thank you Mike for being Mike, for your generous hospitality and for making us feel ever so welcome. Nick and I will be back!

Owner's Response: It would be difficult for any Host not to be both thrilled and moved by your generous assessment of me and our food and hospitality. Our contact with the land and the food we love to produce and cook for our guests is a constant well spring of joy and humility to be truthful. Thank you to both of you for taking the trouble to express your pleasure here and to me about your experience at Phoenix Farm.. I look forward to a possible return visit too.....

Owner's Response: Thank you Sue your visit has been a delightful experience as well. We love to have the opportunity to showcase our food and gardens, since bushfires swept through our region 4 years ago we have worked steadily towards that goal and truly welcome your compliments.

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Farm with Noel and Mike was nothing short of exceptional. They both have an uncanny ability to make you feel as though you are home. The addition of Mike's cooking for dinner and breakfast the next morning was fantastic and we would recommend any guest to take them up on the offer if possible. The greatest highlight however, would have to be the insightful and interesting conversations with Mike. He gave great advice on our continuing travels in Tasmania and was an extremely warm host!

Owner's Response: We have been reviewed many times in other places with a high star rating [ mercifully ], however this review has come from, perhaps the most delightful and appreciative couple to ever visit the farm and experience our farm stay hospitality. Thank you for your visit and taking the time to write your kind review. The enjoyment from Hospitality runs through our veins, along with the love of our farm. Mike
