The self-contained, studio-style building at be&be is part of a heritage-listed property. Inside furnishings combine mid-century elegance with seventies funk, to bring freshness and character to the historically laden, hundred-and-fifty-year-old dwelling. Outside european trees, bonsaied by the harsh conditions on the hill, sit amongst a crop of hundred year old gums. Rock beds and structural succulents combine with these elements to make the garden a unique and wonderful place to visit.
The town of Castlemaine is full of Gold Rush era architecture, which houses a vibrant café and arts culture, less than 90 minutes drive from Melbourne. Daylesford is a picturesque 25 minutes away and Maldon, Newstead, Guilford, Vaughn Springs and other historic towns are also close by.
