3 Bedroom double storey home with big ocean views
NOTE: Please read my description throughly and also tell me a bit about yourself and your intended stay when making your booking request - requests without a note will be ignored.
The Tin Lantern is a 3bdr two storey house overlooking Pirates Bay and beyond to Antarctica. Just an hour from Hobart & 45mins from the airport, my home sits back on a forested 2.5 acre property with expansive views of the ocean, The Hippolyte's and The Lanterns.
This is a place for dreamers, stargazers, hikers, divers and surfers. Sit next to fireplace or on the deck, read books & magazines from my extensive collection, explore the rugged Tasman Peninsula, or just reflect & reset over tea.
The Tin Lantern has various eco features, including roof-collected rainwater, 3.5kw of solar, a biocycle septic system, toilet paper from the Who Gives a Crap™ social enterprise, and Dr Bronners™ fair trade organic soaps in the kitchen & bathroom.
Nestled on a wooded incline overlooking Pirates Bay, The Tin Lantern features a cosy wood heater & split firewood (during winter), outdoor BBQ & cooking area with night lighting, carport, a modern interior with polished floor boards and carpeted bedrooms.
There are three bedrooms - two downstairs, one with two single beds and one with a double bed, along with a master upstairs bedroom with a queen bed featuring a private balcony.
The first floor has a balcony, large open-plan living room / dining area, with a kitchen and twin breakfast bench chairs. All amenities are included for cooking (pots, pans, etc).
There is fast Internet access provided over WIFI (NBN). There is no TV - there is however a large selection of good books & thought provoking magazines around the house, plus beautiful views and great places to go on long walks.
I urge guests not to wear shoes inside (Japanese style) - slippers are provided.
NOTE: Sometimes (work dependent) I may be staying on the property in a completely self-contained space, which is located 70m from the main house - a distance further away than normal neighbours. Get in touch if you have any queries on this!

About Nick Jaffe
It's been a dream of mine to have a house near the ocean in Tasmania for many years - this dream is now shared with others through HomeAway when I am away traveling and working. I enjoy cold climates, long distance offshore sailing, surfing, renewables, oceans, wood fires, great expanses and books. Charts and sailing paraphernalia around my house were used in actual transoceanic navigation during my solo voyages across the Atlantic & Pacific oceans. My book collection has been collected over many years, half of which were carted across oceans in my small boats, named Constellation & Harmony.
Nick Jaffe purchased this House in 2015
Why Nick Jaffe chose Eaglehawk Neck
Because of its view and privacy in amongst the trees.
What makes this House unique

We enjoyed two nights here; it was a very convenient location while visiting the Tasman Peninsula. We appreciated the clean and comfortable rooms and kitchen, and the view over the bay was spectacular!
Stunning views and great property!
Amazing views nestled in the forest. House is neat, clean and homely with wood fire. Everything you need in one spot! Highly recommend. Owner is great to deal with. We have fallen in love with this little slice of paradise!
Great property with outstanding bay views
We spent 3 relaxing nights here. The property is well equipped, and a complimentary bottle of red wine awaited on our arrival. The weather was unseasonably cool for February, but the heat pump quickly warmed the house through. Really enjoyed our visit, and would book again.
