"...a wall to wall coastal view" an anonymous wine writer
The estate is available for weddings and events. Event pricing is available upon request.
There is an estate manager on site. They assist with directions to the estate. Can act as a concierge, or help with any questions or concerns. They can also recommend local restaurants, wine tasting rooms, wine retailers, etc.
There is a 0.5-mile country road that leads to the estate. An SUV is recommended during the dry season (two-wheel-drive vehicles are fine if you drive slow). A four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended during the rainy season.
The property is a 20-minute drive from Pacific Coast Highway and a 30-minute drive from the 101 Ventura Freeway.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. Lots of activities and the home was beautiful and spacious. Already planning for next year.
Five rooms with a view and no neighbors is a tough find in LA. We all had a great time. Our event was my 50th birthday and I dont think I could have found a better place. Its a big house which allowed us all to either hangout together or go to another area for some quite time. but there wasn't much of that! Im a chef and the house had plenty of amenities to to cook just about anything. While we couldn't use open fire bbq's, the kitchen had enough horsepower for me and 5 other chef friends. Tim and Don were great. Don't sweat the dogs, they were chill once everyone settled in.
This home served as a vacation getaway for my husband and I, a home for our wedding party to stay and enjoy, and the magical, unforgettable venue for our wedding. We could not have dreamt up a place like this or people like Don, Edwina, and Tim. We had already felt like we'd escaped from reality after the relaxing and scenic mountain drive, and, when we arrived to the house, it was meticulously clean and ready for us, right down to classical music playing and fresh flowers set out. The grounds looked beautiful. The vines were full and everything smelled so fresh; especially when paired with the expansive ocean view!
The estate is clearly magical, and in communicating with Don and Edwina, the owners, and Tim, the manager, throughout the planning and the wedding weekend, we just felt more and more confident in our experience. Tim was extremely helpful and considerate throughout our entire stay. He gladly answered all questions about the house, the estate, and things to do in the area, and all of our wedding guests raved about his hospitality.
Overall, we wish we never had to leave! We cannot wait for our next visit, whether it is just the two of us, a family stay, or an anniversary celebration with the wedding party, we know it will be great. Last but not least, be sure to try a bottle of the wine, as it is yet another aspect of the estate that will captivate you! We had the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, and it became a staple at our rehearsal dinner. Before we checked out, we'd decided to pick up a few extra bottles for ourselves, and a couple bottles of their 2009 and 2011...we do not regret it!!
We simply can't say enough good things about Don and Edwina and our stay at this beautiful house. Don and Edwina were wonderful. They were friendly, accommodating, responsive, and went above and beyond. We rented the property for a week in October of 2014. The house / property not only served as a residence for us (bride/groom) and 10 family members, but also hosted our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and reception (about 100 guests). It was the PERFECT all-inclusive wedding location. The house is AMAZING, and you can't beat the view. It is breathtaking - our guests continue to rave about its beauty and uniqueness. The details of the house, the view, and the vineyard made for stunning wedding photos. The house is quite perfect for any sort of get together or getaway (reunions, weddings, vacations) with lots of room and a private and remote location. We can't imagine having been married anywhere else and we can't thank Don and Edwina enough for the part they played in our special day.
Amazing Views! We stayed here in July with our family and everyone had a wonderful time, from our teenage children to our senior father. The views of the ocean and Malibu coast from patio and hot tub area were breathtaking and a favorite spot for our father. The house was large and accommodating for our party of eight. The kitchen was a joy to cook for the family in, especially with the fresh picked lemons from the tree in the yard and fresh tomatoes from the garden. We had many dinners in at the large, beautiful dining table that was handcrafted by Cash, the property’s caretaker. At our invitation, we enjoyed Cash’s company over a couple of dinners where we shared wine, stories, and laughter. We also enjoyed a warm welcome and flowers from the home’s owner on the night of our arrival and a personal visit before we departed. Also at our insistence, the homeowner let us keep his Rottweiler Duke at the house. Duke was the sweetest dog ever, plus it made everyone feel a little safer having him around at night to look after the property.
The initial drive up the switchback mountain roads was a little intimidating, but the privacy of the home was well worth it. Once we got used to it, we realized that the drive back and forth to Malibu was really not that bad and it was just a short trip to Zuma beach and many other attraction. If you are looking for a good day trip, the drive up the PCH to Santa Barbara is very enjoyable, but ensure you leave early enough to have sufficient time to explore. We left too late in the day and did not get to enjoy as much of the city as we would have like. For a shorter trip, Santa Monica is also very enjoyable. If you are looking for outdoor activities nearer the house, we enjoyed hiking in Topanga Canyon and on the many dirt roads surround the property.
When not dining in, we took in all that the Malibu area had to offer. We especially enjoyed the dining outdoors at the Malibu Café, upon the recommendation of the homeowner. The food and atmosphere made for a very pleasurable evening for all. Another favorite spot of ours was GROM gelato in Malibu. If you go there, don’t pass up the lemone sorbet.
The house resides at the top of a back-switching, winding road that for even the stable rider is nauseating. It is a 30 minute drive each way not 15 at all. The house is lacking in window treatments in all rooms except one set in the master (2 ceiling to floor windows without next to the one with) making the house bright as day at 5:30am. There was a Rottweiler dog when we arrived that the (only helpful part of the house land lord Cash) took away since we had 6 small children there and admitted there were pit bulls as well. There was no laundry machine until the owners allowed us to use theirs in a dark and dirty, hoarded basement as a bonus because the alarm kept going off setting off the flood lights which shone so brightly into the upstairs bedrooms the children couldn't sleep. You also get to share doing loads of laundry in between the grounds keepers laundry. Alarm went off at midnight and again at 5 am the next morning. No sleep the first 3 nights. There are no horses and the vineyard is dead. There are no hikes from the house only the dirt road from which you arrive around houses that are covered in corrugated metal and tarps and barking, seemingly vicious dogs. There was a gun shot go off at night. There is an ant problem, a fly problem and the a/c only works in the back part/master bedroom. Owner never called me back after the alarm went off only his "assistant" which is his fiance. The hot tub just began working when we got there (so says grounds keeper) and was just warm enough to be in and dirty day 2. It is not an appropriate rental house. It was uncomfortable, scary, difficult to get to and from and sleep depriving. Skip it completely.
