Lovely break away!
Well set up apartment with combination microwave/oven, cooktops and electric grill, sandwich press - easy to self cater! Would have appreciated a folder with info on the apartment, the facilities and The Entrance including good places to eat! Worked out there is Foxtell and read the signs in the lift to find the pool and gym - enjoyed all three! It was our first time to the Central Coast and was a lovely first encounter. Thanks Bill and Grace for sorting out my booking and making everything so smooth and thanks also to Vicki for ironing out our issues with the key!
great little unit nd great location
The location was absolutely perfect for our stay. There was plenty to see and do and all within walking distance.
The unit was lovely and clean.
The owners Vicky and Graham where very accommodating and lovely.
There where plenty of towels, extra blankets and pillows.
They had even supplied big bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Thank you Vicky and Graham for a lovely 4 nights.
Everything we wanted and more
We have just come home from 2 nights here and I cannot rave enough about our stay. The views are amazing, the apartment spotless, the little extra things that make a difference (washing powder, big bottles of shampoo and conditioner, plenty on blankets and towels), the location is spot on. The communication from Graham and Vicki in the lead up to our stay was great. They were more than happy to meet us and go through everything when I picked the keys up. My teenage daughters didn’t want to leave.
I know this will now become my go to place for a weekend away!
We found the apartment to be very clean, comfortable bed, adequate cooking provisions with plenty of plates, cutlery etc. Others had mentioned cooking smells and noise from the pub - we had neither of these and the apartment smelled quite pleasant.
there were toiletries provided with plent of towels and in the kitchen coffee, tea and milk.
The pool area was very good.
The only problems I see, again nothing to do with theapartment or the owners, but The Oaks block itself is a bit tired and in need of a refurb.
Clean and comfortable
The unit was very clean and well maintained. The owners are great to communicate with and very helpful.
Basic toiletries were provided, (we had brought our own) plenty of kitchen appliances/equip to make your own meals, aircon was a godsend during our stay with days up to 40°, shower pressure was amazing, lots of extra towels and blankets was great.
My only negative feedback is external to the unit and not in the control of the owners, the lift is SLOW and usually only 1 was operating (during peak holidays season was annoying waiting up to 8minutes to change floors), view from below balcony is the pub, hard to sit out as the exhaust fans from it blow hot air straight up and theres a smell of cooking oil during the day and noise from the loud music at night (even with doors closed)
Other than the external issues which are unavoidable for the owners, we LOVED our stay and would very happily stay again in The Oaks 521. Its location, parking and amenities were great, my daughter loved the rooftop pool. (We stayed a week in january 2018, but stayz doesnt give option for 2018 in the date section yet)
The bad out-ways the good.
It took us some time to warm to unit 521 at The Oaks. Our initial impressions, created by the entrance to the building from the carpark, were discouraging. The corridors smell, the carpets are tattered and the walls drab and badly marked leaving us thinking that the whole place was dingy. The foyer of the Oaks, which is accessed from The Entrance promenade, is similarly unpleasant.
The unit itself was clean and well equipped though it too, smelled slightly of used cooking oil. The beautiful view from the balcony is as shown on the Stayz site but only if you don’t look down. Looking down reveals the source of the odour, the pub below, whose old roof and discoloured rear walls are on display.
The main bed was comfortable but was covered in a fraying quilt and the fold-out bed in the lounge lacked adequate padding.
The provision of bathroom supplies might be thoughtful but their presentation with untidy handwritten labels and a charge of $1 for moisturiser, adds to the sense of poor quality that pervades. The owners may wish to consider replacing the kitchen scrubbers and washing up cloths more regularly. When we stayed at the unit they were very aged and unpleasant.
I’m amazed that other reviewers haven’t been bothered enough by these inadequacies to comment as I have. Clearly my family and I won’t stay again and I cannot recommend it.
