I am an architect and live in Birmingham, AL. I like to do just about anything under the sun. I like to fish, ski, rock climb, 4-wheel ride.
Lisa purchased this cabin in 2007
Lake Guntersville is one of the Souths best kept secrets. From the people, the charm of downtown, the mountains and the lakes, Guntersville is a little piece of paradise.
I like this particular property because while having some extremely gorgeous views of the lake, it is also convenient to the small town charm of Guntersville, easy access to the state park, around the corner from the Cathedral Caverns, and accessible to bike trails..
Camp Run-A-Muck was just what we were looking for. We had a great time and yall have a wonderful place.
We had a great time very enjoyable..We would recommend to everyone. We would luv to stay again. Overall very nice place...
We were really looking forward to staying at the lake. The cabin was soso, it was clean inside but the full sized mattresses desperately need replaced:( we slept against each other in the middle. The front porch needs washed down because the spiders have taken over:(:( I got everything needed to make smores but the fire pit is down by the lake which the cabin is not on:( We brought fishing poles but the dock was full of trash (carpeting, boat parts, tubing and trash). The water there was only about a foot deep and full of plants making fishing very difficult. The central A/C went out on second night, I called the owner who was in class and I was told to call the repair person who did come out about 3 1/2 hrs later and fixed it.
We own two properties on VRBO so maybe I am expecting places to be the same quality as ours:( that being said I also found it very odd that we the guests were expected to strip the beds and put the cleaned dishes away....also only had one roll of toilet paper we could find.........we ran out. Swing is over an embankment and pretty much unusable.
At first we had a few issues, but they were all resolved quickly! The dumpster and bobcat belonged to the neighbor and Camp Run-a-Muck immediately got the neighbor to move them so we had room to park (so that wasn't their fault). Then, the inflatable mattress was missing, but Scott (the owner) quickly dropped off a new one. Overall, the cabin was very nice and well maintained. The price was right too! I would recommend this, but note that it is not on the lake (listing description is accurate) if that's important to you. When the owner responds efficiently to your issues/concerns, that means a lot! Thanks, Scott!
We enjoyed our stay. it was just far enough away to feel secluded but close enough to go into town for dinner and shopping.
We came to the cabin from Middle Tennessee for a rather last minute stay for Labor Day weekend and to do some boating/fishing for the FIRST time on Lake Guntersville :-) The place was cute as a button and had everything we could need. The decor was adorable, nice and clean and beds slept like a feather bed. I'm used to sleeping on a memory foam mattress and sometimes find it hard to sleep when traveling but not this trip. We were so close to everything but felt as if we were in the middle of no where. Parking is ideal if you arent pulling a boat but we had 2 boats, a 20 ft pontoon and 16 ft. fishing boat, we made it work but it was tight. We intended to leave our boats docked at the community pier but it was WAY TO WEEDY for that. We couldnt get anywhere close even floating in or with a trolling motor. There is a perfect public boat launch about a mile from the cabin that wasnt steep and well lit at night. I in no way hold the weediness in the waters around the "slew" or community pier against this cabin, I'd do it all this way all over again to have the peacefulness and seclusion. I spoke with the owner before even arriving and knew it was weedy up front but thought we would give it a chance. We enjoyed grilling and sitting on the porch just listening to and watching nature. I DID NOT want to leave and we are already trying to decide a date to come back before winter. Last but not least, the owners are SO EASY to work with and talk to if you have any questions or needed anything at all, 5 stars and 2 thumbs up all the way around!
We had a great time canoeing and kayaking around the cabin. The neighbors were nice and there was great fishing. The cabin was in nice condition and had most everything we needed. I will say that the driveway is not for cars...only SUVS and trucks as we found out with one of our vehicles. The hill is steep but manageable. Overall a nice weekend at the lake.
