The neighborhood offers a varied choice of restaurants but if you prefer eating at home Whole Foods ( organic supermarket) is within 5 mn walk. It has amazing quality products but also prepared food that you can bring back to the apartment after an exhausting day visiting the city.
The shopping venues around the area are too numerous to name but if you come to NY to shop this is the best location.
Finally the most important subway lines are steps away allowing you to access any part of the city.

Five stars! This was a great place to stay. We so enjoyed the comfort of really being home away from home especially after being out all day. The apartment is spacious with lots of light and very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kitchen was fully equipped.
Location is wonderful on a quiet street, yes in New York City. There is a Whole Foods two blocks away that provided our food essentials and take out. Two bedrooms and two baths allowed us to include our daughter who took the train into the city, for a couple of nights. There is even a washer/dryer in the apartment which made life easy.
Mario Ros, the resident manager, was so helpful whenever we had questions and was a fountain of information re: the city. We would stay there again. The apartment accommodates four people. Good to know: there is no elevator. :) Worth the walk up.
From the get go we knew this would be a perfect rental. The owners communicated clearly and promptly and the building manager greeted us on arrival with charm and great positive energy, explanation of the workings of the apartment, heat, air conditioning etc. Served us chilled water, such a nice touch. The place was larger than we expected for a NYC rental with plenty of elbow room in the living, dining and sleeping spaces. Comfy beds. Nice sheets and towels. CLEAN! The kitchen was completely fitted out for a cook and even the knives were sharp! Big screen TV. Leather sofa and chair. Dining chairs for six. Laundry room with w/d INSIDE the apartment! The space is filled with light. Staged with nice decorative touches not ticky tacky personal objects and also a vase of fresh flowers!! One thing worth noting, and it didn't bother us but might other people. The building stairwell is a bit rickety and not suitable for anyone with limitations in leg strength or balance. It is a five story walk up "tenement" style building in which the apartments have been totally remodeled in a modern style. The building/stairs not so much. I have to say that the building manager, Mariano, made us feel particularly well cared for. He too is an architecture and art buff. The day we arrived he created a wonderful listing of all the noteworthy buildings in the neighborhood, a start to finish tour, including addresses and architects. He knew which shows were at each museum we visited and was super generous with his time. The location (proximity to Highline, Galleries, Train, Restaurants etc.) was ideal. FIT on the same block provided a non-stop fashion show and security guards round the clock. Generally an awesome spot.
I would stay in this apartment again, which is always the indicator to me of the quality and value of travel accommodations. The listing description was spot on with regard to location, layout, amenities. We found the apartment to be clean and perfect condition. Location is awesome, 1 block to subway that will take you uptown ( Broadway shows) and downtown and to any location you want to go. Street is quite and clean as there is no real through traffic. Having manager on site is great should you need anything. I would highly recommend this apartment. There are 3 flight of stairs to climb but well worth in when you arrive in your awesome clean apartment.
The apartment was the perfect spot to relax after long hours exploring New York. We visited during an August heat wave and were very appreciative of the air conditioning. The apartment was fabulously clean and Mariano was waiting for us as we arrived late on a stormy Friday night.
The apartment is located close to the subway and Mariano had a map waiting for us to assist in our trips all around the city. The apartment was laid out very well - we could hear street noise from our living room but the bedrooms were tucked in the back and were quiet and cool. Others have talked about the climb up the stairs - only an issue when arriving and leaving with suitcases and nothing that cannot be overcome. Our visit coincided with the Fashion Institute of Technology students arriving for the new term and it was fun to watch them arriving excited about their upcoming school year.
There are numerous restaurants and grocery stores within a short walk. We enjoyed the Garden of Eden grocery for "take home" suppers when we were too tired at the end of the day to eat out. I also recommend the "Garden of Eden" coffee - you are able to grind the beans right there and take them home. A great flavor for my morning coffee before hitting the streets for more sightseeing.
All in all, a great location to see the sights and a quiet oasis at the end of long days.
The apartment was well appointed, extremely quiet for New York, the AC worked wonderfully (the temp was 90+ during our stay), the apartment was spotless and well maintained, and Mariano couldn't have been more pleasant. We much enjoyed our stay
