The neighborhood offers a varied choice of restaurants but if you prefer eating at home Whole Foods ( organic supermarket) is within 5 mn walk. It has amazing quality products but also prepared food that you can bring back to the apartment after an exhausting day visiting the city.
The shopping venues around the area are too numerous to name but if you come to NY to shop this is the best location.
Finally the most important subway lines are steps away allowing you to access any part of the city.

This is a fantastic apartment in NY. Great location, well appointed, perfect.
Merci Paule !
We rented this apartment for 4 adults the week of December 7th 2015 and it was great. Location was excellent booking process was easy and Mariano (caretaker) was amazing! This unit was perfectly sized and had all the necessary kitchen equipment to have a drink or something to snack on before you left. Laundry room was great and don't worry about running out of hot water there is a 89 gallon hot water tank! Beds were comfortable queen size and bathrooms had showers in them, no tub. Subway was approx. a block away and there are many nearby places to eat and drink till the wee hours of the morning. We will definitely recommend this place to others and if we travel with another couple again will stay here for sure!!
This is the second time we have stayed here. It's clean and roomy and well appointed. The location is GREAT. Close to just about every kind of store or restaurant you can imagine. Two major subway lines are about 2 minutes away. The owner is very nice. Highly recommend.
We're a family of four with two teenage boys who stayed in this apartment for one week over 4th of July. We'd been on a two week roadtrip prior to arriving in NYC so it was nice to finally stay in one place for more than one or two nights, and have a chance to do some laundry. The spacious apartment is right across the street from Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and next to their residence halls. The street is closed for traffic Monday-Friday 7 am-7 pm, which makes for a quiet place. There are FIT security guards patrolling the street at night, which makes for a safe place as well. The subway is right around the corner, as well as a small corner store that sells breakfast, sandwiches, and some basic groceries. The restaurants within a block away are so so, but if you don't mind walking 10-15 minutes there are several good ones around. We walked down 26th street towards 10th Avenue, and there my boys found basketball pick up games as well as a great Soccer field at Chelsea Park. The kids played there while my husband and I walked on the High Line, which was really too crowded to use for exercising. The apartment itself is in a 130 year old building that has been nicely renovated. We knew about the stairs up to the apartment and although we were a little out of breath once we got to the fourth floor, it wasn't too bad. The floors in the apartment itself are not level, which adds to its historic charm. However, my husband suffers from acid reflux and had to sleep turned around on the bed as the headboard of the bed was lower than the feet. The apartment is very spacious and comfortable. In fact, the master bedroom is so big I wish they'd put a king size bed in there as well as a dresser, as it would have been nice to unpack our clothes. There was a built in closet in the master bedroom (not walk-in though), but there was no place to put underwear, socks, etc. The other bedroom did have a dresser. The bathrooms were decent size, but the shower curtain in the second bathroom was black from mold and mildew and did not smell good. The kitchen is comfortable for cooking and eating, although we mainly just had breakfast there. A toaster would have been nice to have, as it is time consuming to toast bread in the countertop oven. Also, cable on the TV was very basic, I think we only found 5 channels or so. It would have been nice to at least watch a show on USA, TNT, TBS, or Fox at night. Overall a great place to stay that'd be perfect with some minor upgrades.
This apartment added to our wonderful 2 week holiday in NY . It was perfect for us ( 2 couples ) with 2 queen bedrooms & 2 bathrooms . The apartment was extremely clean , beds comfy & the washing machine & dryer were most welcome after 3 weeks previous travelling . Everything we could possibly have required was here .
The position was convenient for walking ( we walked all over Manhattan ) & also to the subway .We frequently walked back from the Broadway area after going to a show during the evening & always felt very safe . It is also only a few streets from Penn Station , to catch the train to JFK airport .
The street was quiet both during the day & also at night ( for sleeping ). The view at night is lovely, looking up the street at trees intertwined with fairy lights !
Mariano , the caretaker , was always friendly & helpful (even calling the car rental company for us to check on the return time).Nothing was a problem .
Booking was easy & efficient through the owner.
There were a couple of flights of stairs to the apartment , which did not bother us , but may be difficult for others .
There is a lovely rooftop garden bar nearby, which we went to for buffet brunch on a Sunday morning . 230 FIFTH , corner 27th st on 5th Ave.
The 4 of us would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends & to anyone wanting a wonderful apartment for a stay in NY .
This apartment is very centrally located, within minutes of major subway lines, shopping district ( Macy's), Hi-Line, theaters, restaurants and cafes.
