'Romance on the Canal' is a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a very quiet listed 1850 building. It is located just in front of one of the larger canals in Bruge. Walk out the door and feed the serene looking swans that live just at the bridge, a 1 minute walk, that leads to the special Artists Quarter and the central square, just a 5 minute walk, if you are not sidetracked by the many art galeries and interesting boutiques along the way.
The apartment is an open plan that surrounds a central patio. The kitchen, hall and bedroom all open with sliding glass doors to the patio area. There is a comfortable queen size sofa bed in the living area. The queen bedroom is very cozy! There is one full bathroom with a tub and shower off the bedroom and one half bathroom closer to the living area.
The kitchen is totally equipped with all appliances, large and small, all dinnerware, and picnic supplies. The decor is of high standard.
A Carrefour Express market is just on the other side of the canal, 3 minutes walk. We provide a rolling shopping caddie and canvas eco-friendly bags. There is also a parking disc for you to use. Parking can be found easily just on the street in front of the apartment.
There is a pharmacie just across the bridge , 1 minute.
Firstly, thank you Dawne for making the booking so easy and pleasant. It really was a pleasure to talk to you on the phone prior to our arrival and you really did make everything very easy. The apartment is stunning and the location perfect for a holiday in Brugge. You are close enough to the center Markt for a leisurely stroll in and far enough to be out of the crowds.
The furnishings are beautiful and to be honest, although the pictures on the internet are lovely, they really don't do it justice. It has everything you could possibly want for on holidays and much more.
We stayed 2 nights (3 people) and there was plenty of room. I would highly recommend this apartment and hope to be back one day.
Stayed here in December with my wife and son. we booked this apartment so that we could visit the Christmas market.
Booking this property was extremely easy. we called Dawne and she was very helpful. she explained all about the property and gave us some details about Brugee itself and good places to visit.
when we arrived at the property it was exactly as described, to be honest the pictures do not do it justice. it a lovely property and very clean and well maintained throughout.
There was a double bed for my wife and i and the sofa bed for my son.
There was a parking permit supplied so we could park almost right outside the door. we did have a bit of a nightmare finding the permit when we arrived as someone had placed it between a couple of books in the cabinet.
The property is just a short walk from the main square with all the shops, restaurants and sights. it close enough for everything but just far enough away to not have any noise. it was very peaceful.
We would defiantly recommend this property, we have already recommended it to other family members. in fact we are hoping to have a chance to go back to Brugee either in the summer 2016 or at Christmas again. if we do we will defiantly be contacting Dawne to book again if its available.
Overall a great property, clean and tidy and a great location.
Thank you Dawne!
My husband and I recently stayed in Dawne's beautiful apartment. It is perfectly located, just far enough from the busy city center but within walking distance to everything. It is beautifullly decorated and well equipped. You will want for nothing. I especially loved the little extras, such as the soap and shower dispenser in the shower, the "shower poofs" and the slippers. Sometimes it's the little things that make the difference. Having a washer and dryer was fabulous, as we were in the middle of our trip and needed clean clothes. The private courtyard was wonderful, the weather cooperated for us a couple of times so we could enjoy wine and cheese after a busy day of sightseeing. You will not be sorry if you choose this lovely apartment. I hope we get back some day!
We've rented apartments all over Europe. This is the most elegant of them all. Believe all the other good things you're reading here. Beautifully decorated. A large and comfortable bed. Quiet. Perfect location. Roomy, very well-equipped kitchen. Roomy living room with ample furniture and lighting for sitting, reading, relaxing. Washer, dryer, dishwasher. Lovely interior patio. Many good to great restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk: Terrastje, right across the canal, is a lovely little bar with great beers, friendly owners, and tasty comfort food. Cezar, just around the corner, celebrated their first anniversary while we were there; it's a warm and friendly mom and pop operation but a serious and truly outstanding restaurant at reasonable prices. And there are many other choices.
This apartment was as lovely as it appears in the photos, but even larger. The bed was comfortable, hot water was adequate, and the kitchen was well equipped. The glass-walled terrace was a great source of light. Dawne supplied a parking disc -- or we might not have known one was necessary -- and we usually could park within a few blocks of the building. It was an easy walk into the beautiful center of town, yet far enough away that we weren't bothered by crowds. We also used the apartment as a well-located base for driving to other charming medieval cities and World War I and II sites.
Everything about this apartment was wonderful! After a long and trying day (delays on the Eurostar from London) it was so nice to arrive at the apartment to meet Rita waiting for us (even though because of mobile phone problems we hadn't been able to let her know we were late). When we walked into the apartment it was like coming home it was so welcoming. The lounge room was beautifully decorated. The kitchen had every possible thing you could need (no cheap plastic appliances). Then we went down the back along the glass walled hallway which looked out on the courtyard to the lovely bedroom with the most comfortable bed we had had in our previous 6 weeks of travelling!
The apartment is in a fantastic location, on a canal, and only minutes from the beautiful Market Square and some wonderful restaurants (try The Stoker Huis - quite different but cute, quirky little restaurant with a fantastic owner/waiter/barman/cook) We had 10 wonderful days in this beautiful apartment in one of the loveliest cities that we've been to, and we've been to quite a few!
When booking, dealing with Dawn was a pleasure, everything went smoothly and her emails were always very prompt if we had a question. She even called during our stay to see if we had everything we needed and if everything was ok.
We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone, and if we are Bruges again, we would not stay anywhere else.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time (much too short at only 2 nights!) in this apartment. Communication with Dawne was great and it was easy to access the apartment with her instructions. The decor is lovely, the layout relaxing and functional, and everything was clean as a whistle. The bedroom was very comfortable and quiet. We've already sent the listing to several friends, and hope to return to the apartment (and Bruge!) again.
