Beaver Island State Park is a 15 minute drive and has a swimming beach and picnic areas. There is a local restaurant which is a 5 minute walk and offers a fabulous Western New York Fish Fry! The City of Buffalo is a 20 minute drive as well and offers a wealth of activities , live music and great restaurants. Whether you are looking to enjoy the great outdoors, see the Falls, enjoy the city or just kick back and relax, our cottage is ideal.
My husband Tom and I have lived on Grand Island for most of our lives. We know and love this area because of it's natural beauty and plentiful activities. Tom is a naturalist and sportsman who has been birding, fishing, boating and hunting the Niagara Region his entire life. I love to hike ,bike and run the many beautiful places on Grand Island and Niagara Falls.
We are excited to open up this very special home to our guests and know that you will enjoy the serene country setting.
Our home has the privacy of a quiet neighborhood while still being 10 mins from the Falls and 5 minutes from all the conveniences you need for a wonderful vacation.
Our home offers a quiet retreat after a long day of sightseeing. Grand Island is unique because it is surrounded by the Niagara River offering plentiful areas to enjoy the water. It is the perfect place to enjoy the Niagara area!
My family of 7 (including my husband and I, and both adult children and children under 10) stayed in this wonderful house. Nancy and Tom were a delight to work with and stayed in touch with us through the planning process. Tom met us at the house and gave us a warm welcome.
The house was very clean and well maintained. There was a map of Niagara Falls which he kindly reviewed with us and told us of other local things to do. Nancy informed us of some of the festivals going on that weekend which was appreciated. There was cheese and fruit awaiting us and even popsicles for the kids. These extra touches were very thoughtful.
They were very accomodating and very fair and thoughtful in their interactions.
This was the first time we have rented a house and they made the experience extremely positive and something I would do again without hesitation.
We built great memories at this house with our family, and this will go down as one of the best family vacations we have had. Thanks so much Tom and Nancy for contributing to a very memorable, enjoyable vacation.
Positives: The owners were super friendly and quick to respond to all of our questions, even at odd hours. We were near to the falls and felt safe in the neighborhood. They were very kind, even setting up logs and supplies for a bonfire set up for our kids, which totally made their night. Upon our arrival, the linens were crisp and the house was tidy. We felt very much at home. Negatives: We did not like how they left all of their doors unlocked - even upon our arrival, we were told not many have to lock their doors (which may very well have been true, but we had JUST arrived and were unfamiliar. It was disconcerting as newcomers to the area). Also, the property had vigorously growing poison ivy in the entryway amongst the shrubs (which myself and one of my children both got) since it was next to our vehicle door; I ended up having to cut it back with scissors I brought because I was afraid for someone else to get it! Also, the house was a bit unfinished in places - no frame around the kitchen window interiors, no kitchen curtain, curtain hooks missing, etc. Some easy fixes that would go a long way. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant. Thank you very much.
Mr and Mrs Savoy are awesome hosts being super attentive to our travels and have the response time of a lightning bolt ! They were understanding of our driving woes and still greeted us at the door at midnight ! Mr Savoy offered to help with luggage that late and gave a thorough explanation of places to see and things to do... the home is clean and set up for comfort ... you couldn't ask for more... the Savoys definitely take pride in this home and neighborhood ! Hopefully there will be a next time as this was the place where we were able to make my mothers dream come true of seeing the falls ...the home is SO CLOSE TO EVERYTHING ... location is perfect ... there's so much to say! Mr. Savoy offered to set up a bonfire.. the backyard is perfect for grilling and relaxing outside... the home is spacious and thoughtfully set up to accommodate our family of 8... beds were comfortable , lots of extra blankets , laundry room .... updated rooms ... wifi ... it is very evident they think of their guests ...we took heed to the map left with points of interest... you must try the Village Inn ... freshest food ever ... We hadn't planned on going to every state park but we did which resulted in memories we could cherish for the rest of time. thank you Mr and Mrs Savoy for having us! Best experience using this kind of vacation accommodation service ...
Close to Niagara Falls and away from the crowds. beautiful surrounding. Excellent hosts. The house was comfortable. Everything was fantastic about this house. The kitchen had all the utensils, baths had towels and a great living room. You can even use the grill/camp fire outside if you are interested(our case it was raining).
we had a incident when on of the light bulb stopped work, when we informed Nancy & Tom, they came within 20 mins to fix it. We really like the way they host us.
We are really happy to have stayed here and we will stay here when we visit again.
Thanks Nancy & Tom
