Thanksgiving at Hale Maluhia

  • 5 of 5

We spent four days and five nights at Hale Maluhia and it was the best Thanksgiving holiday we've ever had. Georgine's home is lovely, clean, comfortable, the view is just incredible, and it's in a great location. The outside table space is a nice bonus, as are the laundry facilities. The large kitchen with all the bells and whistles and bar gave us plenty of space to cook large meals. The directions Georgine provides to get to the house are worth noting as perfect - we'd been awake for nearly 26 hours by the time we pulled up and it was seamless. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and so appreciate her offering her home to Big Island visitors. Her home and this whole experience gave us some wonderful memories we'll long treasure.

Spacious, well-stocked, light-filled, very comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxed four night stay in Georgine's home, away from the noise of Kona.

Yes, there was the noise of traffic in the valley below, but we felt removed from it sitting on the lanai loungers or in the hot tub, enjoying our privacy and the view of landscape and night stars. The living space was clean, attractive, spacious and well stocked with the comforts and conveniences we would enjoy at home. The location was great for short driving distances to see Wamaii, Hawi, and some beautiful beaches with great snorkelling. No restaurants within walking distance, but the house is very well suited to cooking and dining.

Georgine was very responsive in all communication. Yes, we would highly recommend this place

Worked perfectly for us!

  • 5 of 5

This tidy vacation home has everything needed to make you feel as if you are "at home" and provides the things to gather (chairs, cooler, umbrella, boogie boards, etc.) and head out for adventure. We loved the location (the directions for arrival were perfect and easy to follow), the view, and all the accommodations to make each day easy and relaxed. The owner kindly provided 5 star communications and information to help us plan all our days. We easily drove to the other side of the island on two separate days for the Volcano Park and the Botanical Garden and other natural sites on the east side and still made it home before dinner time, i.e. dark. Other days we explored nearby beaches - totally stunning - and other sites both north and south on the Kohala/Kona coast. I hope to return one day and would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Happy with our stay

  • 4 of 5

We were not home very much, but over all, our stay was fantatic. Wish it had air conditioning, but it's common on the island to not have it. Hapuna Beach was very close and a nice beach. The view form the house is amazing and there was always a nice cooling breeze. We enjoyed it, and would stay there again.

Hale Maluhia is our home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

I believe this is our 4th stay at Hale Maluhia and it won't be our last! I am a bit hesitant in writing a review as each time I do it gets harder to reserve our little slice of paradise! We were blessed to have almost a full 2 weeks this stay due to our son's wedding (only 10 minutes away) and various events (btw, the yard served as a great background for groom/groomsmen photos!). We love the location of this property as you are minutes to some of the finest snorkel beaches on the island. It is easy access to major roadways and is rather centrally located with Waimea only 15 minutes away, Waikoloa, 15 minutes and Kona 30 minutes away. If you can't get past the road below the backyard and some resultant road noise then don't stay here. To us the view of the Kohala coastline more than makes up for the bit of noise. The house itself is older but clean and well maintained, charming with all the basic necessities supplied. The owner, Georgine, is always available if needed but not intrusive. Nothing compares when we can enjoy our breakfast on the lanai or cocktails while watching a beautiful sunset over the pacific, and last but not least, watching shooting stars overhead while soaking in the hot tub! Ahhhhh take me back Hale Maluhia!

Thanks again Georgine, we will return!

Great experienc on big island

  • 4 of 5

The house was very well equiped with everything you need for a great vacation.

Good location to discover the west part of big island, beautiful beaches with white sand and also the waipio valley.

A lot of Geycos came and my kids love observing them.

Thank you, Mahalo.
