Nederland House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms (1 non conforming) + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Welcome to Totem Vista Mountain House. Our custom post and beam home of ten years sits on three acres at the end of private road and borders thousands of national forest acres. We offer a unique home where you have huge divide views while listening to the river running in the valley below, it's pretty amazing.

Our house is cozy, comfortable, clean and fully equipped with everything you need. Incredible continental divide views, river running through valley in front, national forest behind. Tucked away from it all yet close to Nederland (10 minutes), Blackhawk/Central City (Casino's 20 minutes) Boulder (30 minutes), and Denver (45-60 minutes).

Perfect summer temperatures at 8500 feet. Great hiking and mountain biking trails from the house. Fall foliage is amazing with aspen meadow on property. Exciting winter activities all close by including Eldora downhill and cross country skiing 15 minutes away. Please have 4WD, AWD or 2WD with chains to access our home in the winter. Hot tub on deck for relaxing and star gazing. Hand carved 20 foot wildlife totem pole and breathtaking mountain views make this getaway unique.

*We offer a private gourmet chef to cook in home meals. Wide range of meals available. Great for family dining or private parties.

*Wonderful local massage therapist available for home visits or has space in Nederland.

Please read our reviews to see why our home is worth visiting, thank-you!

About David McLaughlin

I actually purchased the land, built the house and lived there for 5 years. Our daughter was born there in our home and it's very special to us. We moved to Boulder in 2006 but wanted to keep the home in the family and now it's available for others to enjoy. Many families have found out what a special place it is.

David McLaughlin purchased this house in 2001

Why David McLaughlin chose Front Range Colorado

What's great about this property is that it's very private, with no drive by traffic and surrounded by national forest. There's hiking and biking trails from the home and we're close to Nederland yet it feels very remote.

What makes this house unique

Our home is unique because you can actually hear the river while enjoying the huge view of the mountains, (continental divide) Since we're surrounded by national forest, we have many animals come visit and that's what inspired the hand carved 20' Totem Pole that stands in front of our home. If you want privacy, this is it, you can barely see a unoccupied cabin through the woods and that's it, no other homes in sight.

We offer a custom gourmet chef for private meals. Organic or not, vegetarian or not, great for family dinners or private parties.

Spring Break 2009

  • 5 of 5

Our family including 3 adult children, 1 spouse and 1 boyfriend = 7 total extremly enjoyed our spring break at this property. We put the free lift tickets to very good use everyday that we were there and soaked our sore muscles in the hot tub each evening. The two living areas were nice and many games were played on the upstairs table along with a few movies viewed on the TV downstairs. We used the kitchen and grill to fix almost all of our meals which saved us on food.

Ahhhhmazing! We just spent a week at this lovely home and everything about the experience exceeded our expectations!! Our clan included 3 families, with kids ranging in age from 7-18. The "dirt road" leading up to the home was a little daunting at first, but was we drove it over and over, our mini vans had no problem "off roading"! The house is about an hour drive from literally everything. We couldn't have picked a more centrally located home base! The house itself has everything you could possibly need and/or want. No need to overpack, the washer/dryer was one of the best amenities! There is a guide on the table that explains everything you need to know about the house, and local secrets (the sun dance cafe has wonderful breakfasts - share a plate, portions are enormous & delicious). Owners are super attentive, we had (what we thought was) a problem mid week and the owner had a maintenance man on the property nearly immediately (turns out we were just idiots 😬). The views from the balcony are unbelievable, there are a couple of elk that frequent the train tracks below, and you can easily hear the crick babbling. Two giant thumbs up from Themis crew!!

Birthday Trip

  • 5 of 5

I rented out this property for the weekend of my birthday so some friends and I could easily access skiing and gambling. The location was great! It was about 15 minutes from Eldora Ski Resort and 30 minutes from Black Hawk casinos. The views were incredible and we loved spending time in the hot tub looking up at the stars. Please be careful if you come in the winter, one guest had a 2WD vehicle and had a lot of trouble getting up the hill and ended up parking at the bottom of the driveway. We've already talked about renting it out again and hiking around the beautiful mountains nearby!

What an amazing house.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here so we could go snowboarding in Eldora. The house was located only 15 minutes away. The house was equipped with everything we needed and more. The views were amazing to wake up to every morning. The afternoon we were able to see Elk from the huge deck. We had a great time.
