Welcome to Kiahuna Plantation 304, on Kauai's sunny Poipu Beach area. Our ground floor Royal Garden unit has one of the best views of the historic Moir Cactus Garden created by an early sugar plantation manager's wife in the 1930's. This exquisite garden has been listed as a top 10 worldwide garden in its category.
Before getting into a detailed description of our beautiful Kauai condo, it is important that all Rental Inquiries Contact Owner about Rate Updates!!!, They Vary Seasonally and sometimes Monthly. In addition, Building 38, which houses our Kiahuna 304, was constructed on the side of a small hill over looking the Moir Gardens. As a result, access to all ground floor units in Building 38 actually involve first going up three stairs and then down eight more to reach the entrances of these ground floor units. If this is a problem due to some sort of physical impairment, prospective guests should look elsewhere for a ground floor unit.
In addition, guests should be aware that starting in 2016, VRBO/HomeAway now charges a "Service Fee" of about 9%, on the total Rental Cost. So, for example, if your total rental cost for renting our condo 304 came to $1,000 (not including taxes), the additional fee would amount to $90. This fee is only charged if you use the "BOOK IT" feature on the website. This new fee is on all VRBO/HomeAway websites, not just ours. If you do not want to pay this fee, you can easily do so by booking the condo directly with us, the owners, thus bypassing the VRBO/HomeAway "Book It" process.
As for our unit, it is located in building 38, only a 4 to 5 minute walk thru beautiful orchid and cactus gardens to one of the top 10 rated beaches in the United States (Travel Channel, 2011) and the world (Forbes, 2011). Paradise is yours in this delightfully colorful and bright unit, which underwent a complete bathroom remodel in September, 2011 with a new tiled shower, new vanity with granite countertop, and new mirrors and recessed lighting. Other updated features are new paint, reupholstered Hawaiian furniture, new Cal-King bed, upgraded interior decor, new electric stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, new CD stereo sound system with I-Pod/I-Phone deck, new computer desk and chair, two new flatscreen TV's with Blu-Ray disk player and a closet full of boogie boards, snorkle gear, swim goggles, beach chairs, beach umbrella and beach coolers. The condo is very clean, comfortable and in easy walking distance to nice restaurants and cocktail lounges. A new gas barbeque island (two grills) is only about 60 feet out the front door for those (like myself) that love to grill things.
Kiahuna Plantation is the only beachfront resort in Poipu. Most of the other nearby luxury hotels reside on beaches with little sand and lots of lava rock. The white sand beach (sometimes complete with Monk seals and sea turtles), is backed by green lawns, palm trees and tropical gardens and is a perfect place to relax or enjoy swimming, snorkeling, boogie-boarding, surfing or reading in the shade under the palm trees. Towels and chairs are complementary at the beach-side activity hut. Even though our condo provides some beach friendly equipment which will save rental fees at the Beach Hut, it is important to keep them clean and in good shape after use so that they are available for future guests.
Condo 304 is rated high by our association for interior content and cleanliness and features a king-sized bed with a very comfortable mattress, a queen sleeper/sofa, the already noted new stereo system and computer station, two flatscreen TVs including one in the bedroom and a large screen in the living room, Blu Ray disk player and free Wi-Fi internet. We have also added an aerobed and Pack N Play crib/playpen to give our guests with families more sleeping options. This Royal Garden unit also has a full kitchen for those who like to cook their own meals and save money for the more important stuff (i.e. visiting the many island attractions). The kitchen has all new kitchenware and utensils, a nice big refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, an amazingly quiet dishwasher, an over-the-stove microwave, and two new coffemakers. Other amenities include an interior dining room table with four chairs, the comfortable sofa-sleeper with two equally comfortable side chairs, a large coffee table with two end tables and a huge lanai (160 square feet). The entire unit contains ceramic tile flooring which is really cool on your feet and comfortable on hot days. Ceiling fans are located over the bed in the bedroom and between the living and dining rooms. The absolutely fabulous lanai, that overlooks the Moir Cactus Garden, includes a table with four chairs and two lounge chairs with an accompanying table. The world famous Moir Cactus Garden attracts many colorful species of Hawaiian birds (some of which are quite friendly) while also discouraging use by the resident Kauai roosters that don't understand the term 'quiet hours' in other parts of Kiahuna Plantation. This fact, along with the condo's position away from Poipu Road results in a very quiet and relaxing setting.
Building 38, that houses condo 304, is located right across the street from the entrance to the Poipu Shopping Village with its many shops, a general store, and nice eating establishments. The latter includes Keoki's Paradise, Papalani's Gelato and Puka Hawaiian Dogs. About 100 feet out the front door of the condo is the very convenient Plantation Garden restaurant and lounge. Just a short stroll down the beach is the Marriott and Sheraton which also have restaurants and cocktail lounges which are open to Kiahuna Plantation vacation renters. The Sheraton also holds a sunset luau right on the beach every Monday and Thursday night. Kiahuna Plantation 304 fully embodies the famous real estate saying of location, location, location.
We also want to let Kiahuna 304 guests know that they have full access to all of the amenities of the Poipu Beach Athletic Club when you stay at our condo! Besides the awesome swimming pool and great tennis courts, the Club just added a brand new, indoor/outdoor fitness center featuring 14 cardio machines and a complete weight lifting circuit with 16 different machines to work the entire body. A new Bar and Grill names Hapas can also be found at the PBAC.
We have an agent (Castle Resorts) on site that maintains a 24-hour front desk and a full-time maintenance staff. They are always helpful and at your disposal.

My wife and I are just regular working people that happen to live in Alaska. I am a geologist and my wife works in the transportation industry. We fell in love with Kauai and Kiahuna Plantation many years ago during an anniversary vacation. We vowed that if an opportunity to purchase one of these fabulous old plantation-style condos at Kiahuna arose, we would jump in with both feet. Well that opportunity arose and we are now getting our feet wet.
Michael Belowich purchased this condo in 2011
The need to find some vacation place away from the hustle and bustle that often characterizes many places in the lower 48 states and the more populous islands of Hawaii. Being from Alaska, we are quite familiar with vacationers, although our visitor season is quite a bit shorter than here on Kauai. We understand what people like and dislike and we will strive to meet the high standards that visitors expect as we would ourselves whenever we vacation away from home. Kiahuna 304 and Kiahuna Plantation is such a place. We know that future guests will love our condo and the island of Kauai as we already do.
The obvious answer here would be the warmth, being from Alaska, where a 70-degree day is hot. But it is much more than that. We love the relaxing laid back atmosphere, the quiet, the friendliness of the Kauai residents and the too many to mention attractions, both scenic and historic. Did I mention the beach and warm water, something that is in quite short supply in our home state!
Mahalo for sharing your condo in paradise with us. We have had a very relaxing & fun holiday here. The sun & blue sky & the beautiful beach did it for me & Kiahuna golf course for Ken. People are so friendly & laid back here. We love this beautiful island! Hope to return again.
Was very impressed by the cleanliness of the unit and all of the amenities including beach gear (chairs, snorkeling gear, umbrellas, etc.). Checking in and out was a breeze. Just a short walk to shops and restaurants and a short drive to more shops and restaurants and more importantly, a short walk to the beach. Would highly recommend.
Nicely set up apartment with many thoughtful touches-- snorkel gear, boogie boards, everything you could want from a kitchen. Lovely development and great beach. A bit of a trek to it, but overall a very very pleasant place to stay.
Mike and Mariam were a pleasure to work with. I was heading over with a team of 28 people to compete in an outrigger race on the island. Mike emailed me suggestions of where to eat, where to go and what to do on the island complete with maps that I shared with my crew. The condo was outfitted with everything we needed. I came in the middle of summer, the unit does not have A/C but I found by putting the fans on high and sleeping with the windows and slider open it cooled the entire unit down at night. There is even a peekaboo ocean view from the lanai. This unit is a very short walk to the beach. This unit is about 20 steps to a great restaurant Plantation Gardens Restaurant that we walked to after our race when we were too tired to drive anywhere or make dinner in the condo. It was great to have a clean, comfy and functional unit to come back to every day for our stay. I would this unit again and will recommend it to others.
I agree with the previous review: It was exceptionally hot on the day we arrived and a week later on the day we left. A stronger ceiling fan in the living area and even a portable AC unit in the corner where the Honeywell tower fan would make this unit pretty much perfect. The other negative about relying on the trade winds for cooling the unit is your windows are always open. I just didn't feel like it was private enough for a romantic vacation with my wife. That being said, it was still an unforgettable trip because it was our first to Kauai and we would still consider staying here again.
My wife and I knew that the closet would be stocked with beach supplies but it was a pleasant surprise that it was SO well stocked. We used the Tommy Bahama beach chairs and snorkel equipment pretty much every day. There were also water shoes that came in handy for our kayak and hiking trip. Couldn't have asked for more in those regards.
Lastly, although the wifi worked fine, the Blue-ray player would not connect to Netflix. It kept giving me an error message. I only tried once on our day of arrival but it didn't bother us. We had no need for it really. However, if you're traveling with a kid and you might be relying on Netflix for kids shows, it's something that should be addressed.
Thanks Michael and Mariam! We miss it already:(
We were only able to stay in this unit for 2 nights but we would have happily stayed longer had It was very clean, had a great patio, the kitchen was more than adequate, the shower/bathroom was very nice, and the bed was comfy. It was a bit hot when we were there (unusually so according to staff) so air conditioning would have been nice, but we managed. The unit was on wonderful grounds with gardens, a great lawn, and a fabulous beach. The pool was across the road which was a bit of a pain but certainly okay and we sure appreciated the opportunity to cool off there one afternoon. We had dinner at the place across the road and the food was great. We also got takeout from a great taco place just north of the roundabout. The owners were lovely to deal with. All in all, a good place to stay.
The best thing to say about Mike and Mariam is that it is obvious they want their guest to thoroughly enjoy their visit to Kauai! And that we did. From the initial contact through to our arrival at an extremely well equipped condo to the rccommendations to the final checkout they have strived to make your stay pleasant, easy and very enjoyable. They provide beach equipment in the condo like boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach toys for the younger guests, cooler and a beach umbrella with separate screw into the sand base. The parking is close and free with a dedicated parking lot and a space for every condo in our building. The unit has everything you need. Once again a perfect stay. Thank you Mike and Mariam.
