Wonderful location, close to beach, town, harbor, ferry. Spectackular sunrises.
We planned for about a year for this family vacation, my wife and I, our 2 daughters and their husbands. So finding the right house and location was very important. This house looked great on the website and the 4 bedrooms and 3 baths seemed to be the perfect fit. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon to begin our first week together in a pretty long time - there was some nervous anticipation as to how the house we picked would meet our needs. Any doubts or reservations were immediately dismissed as we walked into Solera. I remember hearing at least a couple "wows". We immediately felt embraced into the island life of Martha's Vineyard. Solera provided a welcoming I believe we all felt, from the open floor plan with functional and comfortable chairs inside as well as outside on the porch (where we spend to much family time together) to the wonderful kitchen and dining room, large front porch and back deck was just perfect for us. Having the dining table, which seated the 6 of us easily (seats for 8) right off the kitchen was very convenient. Large french doors off the dining area leading to the back deck stayed open much of the time so we cold enjoy the island breezes. Cooking on the large and easy to use gas grill on the back deck became more the rule than the exception - we had most of our dinners on the back deck around the large table under the stars.
Perhaps some of our most enjoyable times were morning coffee and breakfast (apple fritters) sitting on the front porch.
Solera's bedrooms also met our needs perfectly, my wife and I took the upstairs master with the large shower and wonderful clawfoot bathtub - which was wonderful to soak in after a long day of bike riding around the island. The deck off the master was where I spent some early morning quiet time reading and listening to the island wake-up.
There are two other bedrooms upstairs, only one of these were used as the 1 bedroom on the first floor was used by one our daughters and her husband, which opened to the large porch with french doors.
In summary this house was a perfect fit for us and provided plenty of room and amenities for all our needs (the outside shower became a favorite for most all of us). When you come for a visit, be sure to read the books provided on Solera and Martha's Vineyard - both have quite a history.
To sum it up in one word - perfect. From the location on the island, to the amenities and comforting details that are graciously offered to use, our family had a relaxing and bonding experience in this charming Oak Bluffs cottage that has been thoughtfully renovated.
The home not only had a wonderful newly updated kitchen that was fully stocked with cooking pots and dishes, it included all the linens relieving us of doing more work on our vacation. In addition, the bikes in the shed were a great addition for daytime activity (especially being located right near the lovely Edgartown bike trail), and the variety of games and the plentiful selection of movies in the living room helped to pass night activity as well. And oh, did I forget to mention the lovely front porch? The photos only give you half the picture.
We just spent one week in this gorgeous home in Oak Bluffs. The owners have done amazing job restoring this house. We are a family of 5 with two kids and a grandmother along for the trip. My mother who is active and in good health enjoyed her bedroom on the first floor and full bath located next to her room just off the kitchen. She loved sitting on the front porch with a book, and walking to town during the day. The other 3 bedrooms are on the second floor. The master has a beautiful en suite bath and a lovely balcony where we enjoyed coffee and tea in the morning. The kitchen is AMAZING with everything that you will ever need. Out back on the back deck a beautiful table with an umbrella for sunny days. Beach towels, a HUGE stock of board games, books, bicycles, eat-in kitchen....just some of the delightful touches that made this house PERFECT in very way for us. I will tell you that it is the pride of the street. As we sat on the beautiful front porch, people slowed down to look at this beautiful home. We barely drove our car. An EASY true walk to town and beach (Inkwell). The owner was delightful and the managing company is was tremendous to work with from beginning to end. The cleaning team was excellent and I felt like every corner of the property was cleaned. A REAL pleasure. I can't wait to return!
