To the south we first have Ft. Myers, home of the winter laboratory of Thomas Edison. You can tour the Edison grounds as well as the winter cottage of Henry Ford. Sanibel Island, home of white sand beaches and incredible shelling, is a barrier island reached by car through Ft Myers.

Bonita Beach and Naples offer upscale shopping and dining, the arts and the beautiful beaches of Marco Island.

A beautiful, serene getaway

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful, Port Charlotte home is located in a quiet neighborhood that seems far from everything, even though it's within minutes of shopping, dining and entertainment. Upon arrival we were quite impressed by the spacious living room, new kitchen and beautiful view of the pool and canal behind the house. The layout is perfect as the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the home, each having its own spacious bathroom. There is also the added convenience of a garage with plenty of room for our small SUV.

The house was very clean and we noticed no issues with maintenance. The pool was heated and the owner was kind enough to ensure the heater was on before our arrival! The dock is in great shape and a perfect launch for virtually any non-motorized watercraft. We had the great fortune of seeing a dolphin in the canal directly behind the house one morning!

I highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a quiet getaway, that is close enough to the "real world" to accommodate any needs I can imagine.

Clean, quiet retreat on Florida's gulf coast

  • 5 of 5

My fiance and I stayed at this lovely home in December 2015. Don, the owner, graciously let us bring our dog along for our vacation. The house was impeccably clean and exceeded our expectations. The pool is beautiful and we enjoyed it on the warmer days. The dock and surrounding islands were perfect for paddleboarding and catfish were plentiful off the dock. We spent our time around the house watching movies (the TV and DVD player are very nice) and doing puzzles on the table in the screened in porch. Don was just a quick e-mail or phone call away, but respected our privacy and left us alone unless he was needed.

Punta Gorda is a short drive away and we dined and shopped there multiple times. A day trip to Venice and the dog beach (Brohard Paw Park) was enjoyed by all of us. We are also avid scuba divers and took a charter out of Venice to do some shark tooth fossil hunting, and brought home dozens of nice teeth each!

We thoroughly cleaned the house at the end of our stay and Don promptly returned our security deposit. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and we would recommend this property to anyone looking for an affordable house in a quiet neighborhood that is pet friendly.

Lovely villa, great location and trustworthy owners

  • 5 of 5

We really liked the villa. It had all we required to be very comfortable and everything worked. The location is great, so quiet and relaxing while all the time all the big shops are just around the corner.

The pool was heated and warm which was lovely. Fishing from the dock was fun, I caught catfish and a ray. I broke s plastic chair while there and felt I should replace it however Don insisted on reimbursing me along with my deposit which was quickly received. Thanks Don, very fair!

We recommend this villa and will definitely return again.

Thanks for having us!

An absolutely perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay at Spring Lake House, and hopefully not our last! My husband and I, along with our miniature dachshund, spent 11 wonderful days here the last week in late September/early October. The house is beautiful, clean and exactly as described. Truly a quiet, private, serene area with a gorgeous, peaceful view. The house is ideally located close enough to every store and restaurant imaginable, yet far enough off the main roads to be away from the hustle and bustle. This was not our first visit to Port Charlotte, so we revisited some of our favorite places ~ Laishley Crab House in Punta Gorda and Flounders in Englewood, to name a few. But this trip we discovered two new places ~ River City Grill and Carmello's Italian Restaurant, both in downtown Punta Gorda and both were excellent!! Don, the landlord, was wonderful to work with and made sure all was well with our stay. The pool and lanai are absolutely delightful and we spent a lot of our time relaxing out there, enjoying the pool and the water view. The house is delightfully decorated, spotlessly clean, and is equipped with everything and anything you could possibly need! (Like a home away from home!) We had a great little vacation at Spring Lake House and we definitely hope to come back... again and again!!! :)

Peaceful and beautiful Florida winter!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third winter stay at Spring Lake House. Can't say enough about the comfy house and location. Birds on the quiet lake shore, but close to all Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda activities. Owners are gracious and welcoming, attentive to all details. We will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful winter haven!

Wonderful, peaceful vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I with our fur babies had a very relaxing time in this beautifully maintained home with everything needed in a home away from home. We ate outside on the lanai every morning taking in the waterside and were tempted to use the inviting pool but the weather was still a bit cool for us Floridians. Maybe next time! We visited beautiful Punta Gorda for a delicious Christmas dinner and also dined on the wharf at Harpoon Harry's in Fisherman's Village several times The unique shops and surrounding water make for a very nice time and atmosphere. Be sure to take the boat ride during the holidays through the canals to experience the beautifully decorated homes and boats all twinkling in thousands of holiday lights. All in all it is a lovely home, cordially hosted by Don and Laura in which to spend a vacation and explore the many, many surrounding areas.

Port Charlotte is located on Charlotte Harbor, a large marine estuary. The harbor offers access to the Gulf of Mexica via Boca Grande Pass, site of the best tarpon fishing in the world. The harbor itself abounds with opportunities for in-shore fishing, deep sea fishing, sailing, powerboating, kayaking, bird watching, porpoise sighting, manatee encounters, white sand beach walking, snorkeling, diving, shark tooth hunting, fossil hunting and more. Port Charlotte is a short drive from Disney World, Sea World and other Orlando attractions, as well as Sarasota's Ringling Museum, Selby Gardens and Tampa's Busch Gardens. Port Charlotte is a 3.5 hour drive from Miami and Miami Beach, and 5 hours from the Florida Keys.

This is simply a location central to many of Florida's finest destinations, but it is certainly a premier destination in itself.
