The perfect western style lodge for your family vacation or group retreat. The Teton Timber House is an impressive, five bedroom, four bath home that sleeps up to 12. There are 4 queen size beds in 4 bedrooms in the main house and a double bed and fold out futon in the carriage house giving you 6 private rooms for sleeping.
Note: The Main House is available in Winter months (Sleeps 8) as we winterize the apartment.
TTH is the best vacation rental value in Driggs/Grand Targhee Ski area. The location is ideal on Ski Hill Rd. 2.5 miles from downtown Driggs, 6.5 miles from Grand Targhee Ski Area, and 35 miles from downtown Jackson, WY (however the Jackson Hole ski resort is much closer).
The kitchen is very large with granite countertops and a chef's sink. The open floor plan connects the kitchen to the living room and dining room. There is a large 8-10-seat dining table, along with three stools at the kitchen bar. The home enjoys privacy from all sides and is architecturally designed to absorb maximum natural light with lots of large windows throughout the house. Located on 2.2 acres, the new Teton Timber House has an amazing and enjoyable living flow.
All 4 queen beds and 1 double bed are fitted with 100% cotton high thread count sheets, and the 3 bathrooms all have nice cotton towels as well. There are ceiling fans throughout the house, the floors on the main level are in-floor heated concrete for a great warm feel in the winter while the upstairs bedrooms are carpeted. There are designer, locally made lamps, chairs and artwork throughout the Teton Timber House.
There is Wifi access, a gas fireplace in the living room, and a centrally located washer/dryer. When it comes to outdoor activities there are too many to briefly name - hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, skiing, cross-country skiing, fishing, snowmobile, 3 golf courses, and lots of access to world class fly fishing. We love this area of the country and we know you will too!
The Davis' live in Atlanta, GA and enjoy biking, swimming, golf, karate and soccer. Nancy grew up in New Jersey and attended Rutgers U.. Dee grew up in Mississippi and attended U. of MS.
The Owner purchased this house in 2004
We love the friendly people and great open outdoors of the Teton Valley area and have been back every year. We happened upon the area by accident when Dee accidentally left his wallet at the Links at Teton Peaks golf course (while staying in Jackson, WY) and had to go back the next day to retrieve it. There was an epiphany moment, 'Wow, I like this area better than Jackson Hole!'
The Teton Timber House has a great open flow to the house, with beautiful views of the Tetons. Lots of large windows bring in natural light from various directions throughout the house. This is rare for the valley. Having 4 queens in 4 bedrooms allows for some major comfort of large parties. The carriage house is a nice little bonus space.
For many in our group this was our first experience out west. I stumbled upon the Teton Timber House, while searching for a place to accommodate our family of 11, and decided to go with it. The picturesque home helped seal the deal. The various bedrooms and bathrooms definitely met our needs. The beds were comfy and the house was roomy. The carriage house was also an added bonus. During our week long stay, we explored Yellowstone, Jackson Hole (great shopping and eats), Jenny Lake (camera happy hike) and when we wanted a more relaxing day with less driving, we fished and kayaked the nearby Teton River. This was the most relaxing and beautiful kayak trip that I've ever been on. We rented inflatable kayaks/paddle boards from a local business, Peaked Sports. This worked out perfect for us. The highlight was catching sight of moose, cows, an otter and a river full of fish. We also observed moose and other wildlife while driving to and hiking the South Teton Creek Trail in the close by Jedidiah Smith Wilderness. We also experienced a thunder storm while hanging out at the house and the sites were gorgeous if your into lightning. The sunsets were also something to see.
We purchased the majority of our groceries for the week at Broulim's Fresh Foods. They offered a variety of options and the staff was very friendly. It also helped that they were open until 11 PM. I'm pretty sure we made at least one trip there per day. We also popped in at the local health food store for supplies and had a palatable lunch at the Forage Bistro and Lounge on our departing day. The Smore Crème Brulee was heaven.
We would surely return only with more time. A week doesn't cut it. Driggs would be a wonderful place to live. (Oh, we did miss the hot tub. Wasn't sure what happened to that.)
Ahh, a family reunion. Three generations, of 14 of us, ranging in ages 4-70. No one was bored over our seven day stay. The location is ideal for a base to enjoy the local ambiance or to do day trips to Yellowstone or Teton National Parks. The house is situated in a beautiful area with plenty of room for fun activities and games or just sitting around. The teenage girls especially liked the separate carriage house to escape the adults and enjoy some independence. The only draw back was the our anticipation of being able to play lawn games. Unless you are willing to play "croquet in the rough" , you best go to a local park. Great accommodations and at fair rates. A travel case was left behind and the owner was prompt and courteous in arranging shipment back home.
I'd never before visited Driggs, but I sure am glad I did. The house is perfect for family gatherings, reunions for old friends, or groups using it as a base camp to go on excursions. I stayed for about 5 days and used it as a base of operations for my climbing activities. The drive to Jackson is only about 50 minutes, and the house is also only about 5-10 minutes way from the Table Mountain trailhead / the western approach to the Tetons. Also, only a short drive away in Victor, you have access to great food/shopping, gear shops for outdoor purchases, and live music on Thursday nights in the park.
In terms of the property itself, you will have tons of room, clean/nice appliances, the prettiest sunrises and sunsets known to man, comfortable beds, and more. I would highly recommend it to any and all, and will definitely be going back!
We rented this house to meet up with old friends from all over the country. It was a great space for housing multiple families... lots of big areas for hanging out as a group, but also lots of private space. It was a great location for easy access to Grand Targhee for those who wanted to ski and tube, and also to town for those who wanted to do brewery tours. Having 3 bathrooms makes a big difference when you've got that many people.
Our group included 5 families with all with small children. I as impressed by the size of the bedrooms. We had room for portable cribs. The living area was large enough for all of us to use and the view was great of the Tetons. The kitchen provided everything we needed and there is a large dining table and bar with stools. It was great to have a washer and dryer for all our dirty kids. We we glad to have a grill to cook burgers and steak, almost like being home. The location of the house was convenient to Driggs, Teton Canyon and Grand Targhee. We would love to stay again next time we go to Targhee Blue Grass Festival.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your home in Driggs. Driggs is a fun little town, and we loved the huckleberry shakes in nearby Victor!
The home was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. There is no 'yard' per se, but our three young boys enjoyed playing in the rocks and wilderness surrounding the house. Everything worked well, and, as much as we tried to unplug, we enjoyed having the convenience of the wifi connection.
The house does not have air conditioning, and did get warm in the evenings, even with the windows open and ceilings fans on, especially the 2 upstairs rooms. Perhaps window treatments that cover the windows better can help this, as well as help darken the rooms during the long summer days (young kids have to go to bed earlier than the sun does!). However that was our only "problem" and it was a minor one, and only pertains to the summer season's warm, long days. The mornings were gloriously cool and we reveled in the beauty of the location.
