This really is a delight. Great quiet location, modern light interior with quality and style in the fine details. Spotlessly clean, delicious breakfast items and an inviting garden. Peter is communicative and extremely helpful. This was a pleasure.
The cottage is very quaint and restored beautifully. Central to all areas..we walked for miles. Lovely part of Hobart & great views from front of cottage. Recommend to all visitors. Met at door by Peter which is a nice touch. Thanks
Wonderful base to explore Hobart!
We spent 3 nights at 1837 Cottage, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Peter & Belinda have created warm inviting space that leaves you wanting for nothing. The cottage is well appointed and filled with a fantastic collection of books and artwork. We will definitely be coming back, warm. Comfy and centrally located, we could not have been happier! Thanks again Peter & Belinda for sharing your beautiful home.
We have stayed all over Australia in various types of accommodation and this beautiful cottage is right among the very best. Its clean, warm, inviting, beautifully furnished and definitely felt like our home away from home. My daughter especially enjoyed the shower !. Little touches like milk, yogurt, jams, pod coffee, mueslis and the like made for a very welcome start to our stay.
Our host Peter was lovely to deal with and nothing was to much trouble for him.
Beds were very comfortable and a great kitchen if you felt the need to stay home and cook up a storm. ( with so many great restaurants on the doorstep, we didn't actually try this )
Its about a 20 minute walk into Salamanca, all down hill, so that obviously means its a walk home all up hill - which after a big meal isn't a bad thing.
Would highly recommend this property when visiting Hobart
One very small point, and this only affects people 6' 2' or over. A cottage built when it was, has some small doorways. Once you are used to ducking, its fine.
Very welcoming, beautiful decorated and set up.
We stayed for 4 nights with our young family (5yr and 2yr old) and had a fantastic time. We were met at the door by the owner who was full of smiles and great local tips. The layout was ideal for us, plenty of space but always knew what the kids were up to. The backyard was an adventure, bathroom gorgeous and bedrooms comfy and welcoming. The yummy food and fresh fruit on arrival was an added bonus and the kitchen was well fitted out. My only tip would be that if you have kids and are staying in summer, bring a blockout blind for their bedroom as the rooms have sheer blinds which don't blockout the sun, making it difficult to get kids to bed, and to sleep in (minor but i would have liked this tip).
Thanks Steph for your kind review. So glad you and your family enjoyed our little cottage. Thanks too for summer blinds tip. It was great to have met you all. Many thanks Peter
Everything we needed and more!
Fantastic cottage, beautifully renovated, centrally located and full of extra touches! The cottage looks just as it does in the photos. We were greeted on arrival by Molly, how showed us around the house and left us a beautiful supply of fresh fruit, meusli, yoghurts, fresh bread, butter and milk which were all delicious. We had one very cold night during our stay and the gas heater and electric blankets were well appreciated. Kids loved the garden and spent an afternoon playing and hiding amongst the foilage, my daughter birdwatched, seeing at least four different species. The range of books Peter had there are excellent, all relating to Tasmania, its history and environment. Loved the kitchen so much I had to cook on both nights of our stay, well equipped with utensils and basic ingredients. Overall a fantastic stay and would recommend it to everyone.
Thanks Tanya and Nick for your lovely letter and review. I loved hearing about your daughter birdwatching - though am mystified to know which bird was a 'spoggy'! Glad you enjoyed the library and made good use of the kitchen. Many thanks Peter
