Perfect for large groups!

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from a long weekend at the Kimball Hill Inn and it was GREAT! Our group consisted of 7 families, (14 adults & 15 kids) and there was room for all. This place is not the Ritz Carlton. It is an old rustic / farm style B&B with lots off Character. It is located in a remote area up a long dirt road (Hill). It is perfect for large groups with families and friends. The Innkeeper (Charles) is a great guy and very helpful. We had 15 kids in our group ages 4-12 and they had a ball. Charles was glad to have them and did not mind them running crazy through the house. Some of the kids slept on air mattresses but there is plenty of room for everyone.

Please note that some of the older reviews don’t mention that there is now a large flat screen TV with a DVD /CD player and surround sound system.

Everyone in our group loved this place and we will definitely be coming back!!!

Great time was had by all.

  • 5 of 5

This was the seventh year in a row that a group of families rented the farmhouse for the Feb school vacation. We go nordic and alpine skiing as well as other winter activities. My son came back from college for this and said he wouldn't miss it for the world. Here are some of the favorites from this group of families that had both parents and teens.

Independence; Having the place for us to enjoy as a group.

Having a big place to all get together.

The common room where everyone comes together

The kitchen that can accommodate for 30 people and eating meals together.

The open floor plan and how there is so much space for us to just hangout

gathering together for so many years

many good gathering spaces stretchs us out

dining area next to window

wood stove

bar area

ability to cook for yourself

old charm

Love the atmosphere of the Inn

Family gathering with large common room, tables and eclectic old -fashioned décor

having run of the place

charles personality and cheerfulness in emergencies as they arise

charles helpfulness for all situations, keeping the driveway parking cleared

big open spaces to gather, eat and setup

Charles' friendliness

near Bretton woods

Cultured bar action

good sledding

beautiful view

ponds for skating when the kids were young.

hiking near road

great location

Here are a couple of the suggestions we've made to them for next year.

1. For skiing groups a heated mudroom outside of the one of the back doors that would

a. Provide a buffer for the cold that comes into kitchen

b. Place to store boots, ski gear, skis,

2. dishwasher

a. Either install a second dishwasher or

b. Install an industrial dishwasher

I love the Kimball Hill Inn!

  • 5 of 5

I love the Kimball Hill Inn! I have been there three times in the past two years (August 2012, October 2012, and August-September 2014).

The location is perfect - it's idyllic, gorgeous, and serene and it's perfect for weekend getaways and romantic adventures!!!

it is a very easy drive from Canada (just over an hour from the border). The host's hospitality is second-to-none. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you need for a home away from home -- we cooked some magnificent gourmet meals during our stay!! The beds are high quality, as are the linens and towels, and I slept so well in the fresh mountain air.

The Inn is located near several beautiful little New Hampshire towns. It's close to hiking trails and loads of little antique shops. It's also just an hour or so away from the shopping outlets in North Conway.

I highly recommend Kimball Hill Inn to anyone looking for a magical place to spend a weekend, a week, or longer. I look forward to returning there this fall to see the leaves turning red, orange, and yellow!!

A great place for a big group!

  • 4 of 5

We decided to stay at Kimball Hill Inn because of it's unique atmosphere and we were not dissapointed. Our group of 11 people, made up of 6 kids and 5 adults, was quite charmed by this old Inn. The kids went nuts with the pub area. They kept wanting to serve our food and drink like a restaurant. Something we don't get at home! The rooms are charming and clean. The uneven flooring on the second floor is quite representative of the age of the place and we liked it. The kitchen is made up of two areas so we hade to adjust our work habits to the layout but it was fun to cook in a restaurant style gas equipped kitchen. We could have been even more people without bumping into each other. It's close to Brettonwood ski resort. We went skiing there 2 days and the conditions were perfect. The only downside is the that there people living upstairs and we can hear everything that they say. In our case, we knew about it prior to arriving so it did not really bother us that much. Charles, the inn keeper was very nice and very helpful when we had questions or needed something. All in all, it was a success and we hope to stay there again next year for our ski trip.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. The third floor has been remodeled and is no longer an apartment for the housekeeper. There are now 3 bedrooms, a bunk area and full bath added to the house rental bringing the total guest beds to 22.

A memorable weekend!

  • 4 of 5

On the weekend of Feb 9-12, I was part of a group of five couples staying at the inn. I’ll try not to re-iterate the comments of Dave H. and Dina B. The TV is a 40” projection set with component connections. Don’t bring your HDMI or apple TV, not much use. But one of us brought an Apple Express and set up a mini network, which we joined all our Ipods, Ipads and laptops to. All of which allowed us to have a massive Itunes library we played through the house system, (surround sys for the TV). A few of us are musicians and we brought instruments. Can’t express the good times we had. Next year full drum set for me.

Many in the group were good cooks and picked breakfast, or lunches, or dinners to prepare, (we brought way too much food).

The kitchen was more than adequate for the meals prepared and seriously we had some good cooks working it. One thing though, bring steaks! It’s a restaurant grill that’s begging to be used.

Never saw the neighbors, if there were any. Great views and total seclusion.

The bar was the most used location from bloodymary’s in the morning to each couples signature drinks in the evening. Too many self-proclaimed bartenders though.

Charlie was always available, but hardly visable. He supplies all the tools for you to create your own good time.

We get away a fair amount and this was one of the most enjoyable weekends we’ve ever had. Can’t wait until next year.

Final note, if you go looking to get away and have a good time, you’ll have a great time. If you’re looking to be pampered, this is not for you. Unless you bring that special someone with you.
