About Jan Gray

Tom and I live in Queensland in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, north of Brisbane. Bellamona is our holiday house as we love visiting Tasmania and hope to spend more time there in the future. We love history and the outdoors and have travelled around Tasmania - enjoying the more laidback lifestyle, cooler weather and lack of traffic. The people are friendly and like to chat and we have friends who live in Tasmania. We are very lucky to have found Julie and Trevor who are our new best friends who look after Bellamona when we are not there.

Why Jan Gray chose Longford

When searching for a property in Tasmania, we fell in love with Bellamona and the town of Longford. Built in 1850, the cottage was tired and a little rundown but we got a wonderful feel for her and looked forward to bring her back to life.

What makes this cottage unique

When renovating we kept all her original features but have added the wood burning fireplace, fresh paint and new carpets for comfort and warmth. The furniture is old-fashioned to adds to the historic cottage feel of a time gone by. The shady gardens and mature fruit trees are a place to relax and enjoy. Our cottage is in a quiet street but in walking distance to everything. We hope you enjoy visiting Bellamona as much as we do.

Cosy heritage cottage

  • 3 of 5

Longford is a beautiful place and this cottage was close by to shops and the event which we had to attend. Gardens were beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed the cottage experience but it was probably too small and cluttered for us. Beds in the second bedroom need replacing. Some of the electrical work eg the need to run the an extension cord across the bathroom to use the dryer was not appropriate. The little things like supply of condiments, shower gel, shampoo and tissues were great.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review Phil and Sue but we were sorry to hear that our cottage wasn't what you expected. Being a heritage cottage, Bellamona is cosy and as shown in our photos we have tried to keep it's old world charm. As it is our holiday cottage and not an expensive bed and breakfast, we have furnished it as such. Most guests comment on how comfortable our beds are but I will get our manager to check things over throughly. Thank you once again for staying with us.

Excellent value cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed five days to visit relatives and look at neighbouring villages. I stayed with my son and six year old grandson. We agree with all the above reviews and would certainly be staying again in the future. The six-year-old really enjoyed the Devil Park at mole Creek as well as swimming at the cataract Gorge in Launceston. It was very easy to hire a car from the airport. It was then only a short drive to Longford. We stayed five nights
