Smoking is not allowed inside but there is a covered verandah front and back with chairs and plenty of outdoor space in the peaceful gardens. Unfortunately pets are not catered for as the yard is not fully fenced.

This is a quiet neighborhood so please enjoy and respect the privacy of those living around you. You are encouraged to treat this cottage as your own but also respect 'Bellamona' and its history by following the guidelines listed in the cottage.

Longford is a fantastic base for your Tasmanian holiday as it's central location allows easy access to many holiday destinations and attractions.

Church bells chime softly on the hour and 'Bellamona' is only a couple of minute’s walk from the main street of Longford with all its village facilities, including local eateries, chemist, antique shop, post office, health professionals, service station, country hotels and supermarket.

The historic cemetery and beautiful mature parks offer our guests the chance to wander and unwind as everything is within easy walking distance of the cottage.

Longford is also a fantastic destination for the motoring enthusiast as it was host to the Grand Prix in the 1960’s. Each year the beautiful country town remembers its racing history when the Longford Revival Festival is held, a wonderful weekend of Motorsport. Targa Tasmania is another racing highlight and is a world class international motorsport event. Book your accommodation early for these events to avoid disappointment.

Longford itself was settled in 1821 and is a 15min drive from Launceston Airport and a 25min drive from Launceston CBD and the spectacular Cataract Gorge. The famous Evandale Sunday Markets are only 10 mins away and well worth a visit.

The annual Longford Cup thoroughbred racing is held 1st January each year at the oldest continuous race track in Australia.

Longford boasts two world class historic estates in Woolmers and Brickendon. Touring these estates takes you back in time to the 19th centuary and is a great experience. There is also easy access to the Midland Highway (the Heritage Way) south to the capital, Hobart – a two hour drive direct. But why not make it a whole day’s outing and stop in at the many historic towns along the way including Campbell Town, Ross and Richmond. There you will discover historic sites, antique shops, local industries and fine eateries.

From 'Bellamona' there is also easy access to major arterial roads which will take you west to Cradle Mountain and the beautiful heritage forests of the wilderness areas and famous lake fishing areas.

To the north you can explore the wine producing Tamar valley or head north-west to the beautiful coastal towns to see the fairy penguins at the town of Penguin of course, and to the historic fishing village of Stanley with its famous ‘Nut’ to climb.

You can also explore north-east through the lavender fields to Scottsdale and over to the coastal towns and beaches of St Helen’s, Binalong Bay, Bay of Fires, Scamander and Swansea.

If you don't have time to enjoy everything in one visit, 'Bellamona' is the ideal return location for where-ever you wish to visit in Tasmania, as it is central and close to the airport. 'Bellamona' can be your home away from home as it has everything you need for a short break or an extended stay. Laundry facilities, full-size fridge, books and DVDs make the cottage and ideal holiday cottage for all visitors - local, mainlanders or international. Bellamona is a lovely comfortable cottage and the many original features make it a very special place. We appreciated being able to light the fire in the lounge room, plenty of good wood and kindling provided. A lovely comfortable bed, good reading lighting in lounge room. Books on the shelves. Lovely old fashioned garden. Owners were very helpful. We would stay there again.

Excellent value cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed five days to visit relatives and look at neighbouring villages. I stayed with my son and six year old grandson. We agree with all the above reviews and would certainly be staying again in the future. The six-year-old really enjoyed the Devil Park at mole Creek as well as swimming at the cataract Gorge in Launceston. It was very easy to hire a car from the airport. It was then only a short drive to Longford. We stayed five nights

Old World Charm

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our short stay in Bellamona -the house was comfortable and it had all the old world charm of yesterday, which was quite fitting in an area of lovely historic buildings. It was enjoyable sitting in the garden amidst trees laden with fruit and with lovely flowers in the garden.
