This spacious apartment is the epitome of both quintessential and modern Brooklyn living. It is located in the culturally diverse and historic Stuyvestant Heights area on a landmarked block. The homes on this quiet, tree lined street boast anterior gardens displaying rose bushes, hydrangea and other plants that flourish in the Northeast. The apartment is situated on the third floor of a nearly 150 year old renovated brownstone. Two skylights add to the open and spacious floor plan, saturating the space with natural light. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and is equipped for cooking. The living room and bedroom have separate closets and entry doors for privacy and convenience during your stay. The bedroom is spacious and has a gently sloping ceiling, therefore it is recommended that guests over 6'2' use the sofa bed. The mid century furniture was carefully chosen to present a clean, unique environment. Paintings and photos in the space were made by local artists.
OWNER OCCUPIED : This is as close to a bed and breakfast as you can get without the added cost. Unlike most vacation rentals, the owner lives in the building. Check in/out at any hour is never a problem. A New Yorker is downstairs, at your disposal for tourist information and any questions that may arise during your stay. This is a non smoking building.
PLEASE NOTE: The apartment is on the third floor so you will be walking up the stoop (stairs leading into the house, pictured below) and then two flights of stairs inside. There is NO elevator so pack accordingly.
**If the apartment is booked during your vacation see my other rental listing #917430 (same location)**
I work in Brooklyn real estate and I enjoy getting to know people from all over the world. I feel fortunate to be able to share my beautiful home & neighborhood with my guests. I particularly love that my daughter Ruby, at age 3, is able to meet so many interesting people. She gets very excited when new guests arrive and often presents them with a drawling or shows them a new dance she has learned.
Owner/Manager purchased this apartment in 2009
As Southern transplants, my husband & I knew we wanted to make our home in a neighborhood with a strong sense of community, an interesting history and a culturally diverse population. Our home was built in 1864, it is located on one of the loveliest blocks in the area. Inside the apartment you will find unique furnishings I've collected over the years and photos given to me by friends in the NYC artist community.
A trip to New York should be pleasantly unforgettable. With my guidance, I can save my guests time, money and I hope make the experience less intimidating. Since I live in the building traveling stress is decreased - I personally welcome my guests upon arrival and make myself available for any questions.
We've had a really great stay in NY and who knows, we might visit again someday. It is a great place you have here!
This met our needs perfectly. Our flight was delayed, and Ashley was very gracious as she greeted us in the middle of the night! Beautiful apartment with everything you need!
This was a great little apartment with a fantastic host! We were able to check in a little early and she even kept our things in a locked hallway after we checked out and before our flight. The apartment was super cute and very clean. There was lots to do near the apartment. Parking can be tight if you are planning to drive in. I would definitely stay here again if I am in the area!
First impressions of the neighborhood: Lively with brownstones and greenery. Level of neighborhood safety: very safe. Accessibility to JFK and/or Manhattan: Amazing (A/C train, a couple of blocks away). Neighborhood vibe: diverse, upcoming, helpful and friendly. First impression of the owner: very friendly and extremely accommodating. Overall impression of the rental: The place is on the third floor (so baggage accordingly). However, it pretty much has everything you need. Cute décor by the way! No cable (just regular TV) but nothing your laptop or a nice DVD rental from Red Box can't fix. Most amenities are provided for so consider it your home away from home. Thank you, Ashley.
The apartment was spacious, clean, and as pictured on the web site. The neighborhood was relatively quiet. The walk to the subway was just a few blocks. Peaches, a great restaurant, is just around the corner. We only met the owners once, upon arrival.
Positive: Nice, peaceful & comfortable apartment & neighborhood . We had an Awesome time! Safe neighborhood to walk in. Owner was flexible with our check in time. Easy access to the subway A& C Train which goes into Mahanttta & JFK . .Lots of great food choices on Lewis. Ave. Want some soul food full effect? Restaurant style & et all? Must check out Mom's & Pop's Soul food! Got a car, no problem...We were able to park right in front of our apt. Every time
Negative: WI-Fi was a little slow
Great home away from home. Will stay there on future visits to NY.
We loved Ashley's apartment. Convenient yet quiet enough neighborhood, considering we're in Brooklyn. Loved the street parking. We walked everywhere. The apartment was simple, spacious & clean. Reservations, check-in, check-out went smoothly and fast. I can't ask for a better experience. We'd love to come back!
