This contemporary apartment locates in an impressive historical brewery residential building between Whitechapel and the City.Site Location & Character

The apartment is situated to the south of Bellevue Place, which

forms part of the Stepney Green Conservation Area.

“Hidden away behind the Genesis Cinema and Wickham’s lopsided

department store is Bellevue Place. To get there, you walk up a side street

from the Mile End Rd where you discover a bright green door in an old wall

hung with ivy. Push this door and enter another world just as writer and

artist, Geoffrey Fletcher, did when he walked through the same doorway in

1964.”

In The London Nobody Knows he wrote,“A green gate opening in the

wall leads to a totally unexpectedly corner of London, one that may well

disappear if Charrington’s, who own the property, ever decide to expand.

Bellevue Place is well named. It is a cul-de-sac with a paved pathway

leading to the far end, under a creeper-covered wall. The cottages are early

nineteenth century, and have true cottage gardens fenced with wooden rails,

pointed at the top. Here are unbelievably rural gardens, full of lilac, lupins

and delphiniums – all a minute’s walk from the Mile End Road.”

Heritage Statement

Bellevue Place was originally built as a crescent of cottages around a green

which served in the Victorian period as tea gardens. Charringtons built a

brewery on the site, cutting the terrace in half, constructing a wall round it

and using the cottages for their key workers. Enclosed on all sides, there is

a door in one wall that led directly into the brewery, which remains locked

today, now the brewery is gone and now where my apartment stands.

“Bellevue Place, unseen from the street and surrounded on four sides by

high walls, is a magical place where it truly does feel as if time has stood

still. The walls form a wind break, creating an atmosphere of warm still air in

the gardens. There is an innate quiet in this corner.”

The garden setting is arguably a principle part of the heritage of Bellevue

Place. Accessible only by foot through a single door from the street,

the setting cultivates an strong relationship between the house and its

occupants, with the leafy front and back gardens surrounded by high, plantcovered walls creating continuous views of greenery from every angle.

This intimate acquaintance between the terrace and the gardens forms

a key part of the design concept. The proposal is sensitive the fabric and

layout of the existing Grade II listed property, leaving the principle house

largely untouched with minor alterations to the interior. There are no

proposed changes to the front of the property, with those to the rear being

in-keeping with the massing, scale and materiality of the original terrace.

This stylish apartment has been completely renovated presented with a modern, fully fitted open plan kitchen cum reception room. A modern and clam contemporary bedroom with a queen-sized bedrooms and a newly fitted bathroom.

This inviting apartment is ideal for easy access to the Olympic Park Village, Canary Wharf (financial center), the City, West End, Tower Bridge/Tower of London, Spitalfield Market, Brick Lane, Columbia Market, Shoreditch , Hoxton Square, Liverpool Street. City Airport, Bank and St. Paul's for tourists and business visitors.

There are a lot of interesting places to visit nearby my holiday apartment such as Spitalfield and Broadway Markets, trendy/funky Brick Lane/ Shoredicth areas, famous Sunday Columbia Flower market, the new finiancial district of Dockland and Greenwich.

As a host, my main aim is to ensure your stay at my apartment will be a comfortable and relaxing.

I have run this holiday apartment for over 4 and half years now and so far i have received 4* & 5* reviews from my guests. My aim as a host is to ensure all my guests have a comfortable and happy stay at my holiday apartment during their holiday.

Nearby Tourist Attractions: The Olympic village, Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, the City, Bank ,Tate modern gallery and St Paul are only 5 to 10 minutes from public transport link so this holiday apartment is ideal for working professionals and tourists.

The District, City & Hammersmith, Central and East London lines/underground stations as well as the shops and restaurants are in proximity to this holiday apartment.

Just round the corner there are a Tesco Express ( grocery shop) for your daily groceries shopping and a 5 screens cinema. There are rusty restaurants dotted around in the area and a micro brewery pub just a few minutes walk away.

Good value for money

Alvin is an exceptional host, always available and always ready to give good information and advice. The property is an easy walk to Stepney Green underground station (about 7 minutes), close to shops and supermarkets. The flat is quiet and comfortable. The only negative point is that the bedroom is extremely small.

Esperienza positiva nell'appartamento di Alvin !!

Ho soggiornato in questo appartamento per quasi una settimana, nel mese di dicembre 2016, e l'esperienza è stata molto positiva. Abbiamo soggiornato in due adulti ed un bambino di 5 anni. L'appartamento (totalmente fedele alle foto) si trova al primo piano di un caratteristico palazzo di fine '800 in zona Whitechapel. E' servito molto bene dai mezzi pubblici : proprio sotto casa passa il bus n. 25 che fa capolinea ad Ofxord Circus, inoltre a breve distanza è possibile prendere la metro (della linea District Line o della linea Hammersmith e City line) alla fermata Stepney Green oppure alla fermata Whitechapel (sono equidistanti). Noi abbiamo preferito sempre prenderla alla fermata Whitechapel per poter vedere il caratteristico mercato che ogni giorno si svolge lungo la via ma se si hanno i bagagli consiglio di utilizzare la fermata Stepney Green perchè la via che conduce lì è poco trafficata. Sotto casa si trova il supermercato della catena Tesco mentre facendo una piccola passeggiata si può arrivare ad un grande Sainsbury. La zona è tranquilla, al massimo si possono sentire le sirene delle ambulanze in quanto l'ospedale è vicino. L'appartamento ci è stato consegnato molto pulito e accessoriato di tutto l'occorrente; in cucina sono presenti forno, frigo, lavatrice, forno a microonde, bollitore, stoviglie e utensili vari. IL piano cottura è elettrico e di facile utilizzo. Nel soggiorno/cucina si trova un divano trasformabile in letto (che abbiamo utilizzato) ed una bella, grande e nuova tv. La camera da letto è piccolina ma ha tutto ciò che occorre. IL bagno è funzionale. IL padrone di casa (che non abbiamo conosciuto in quanto in vacanza) è stato molto disponibile ad ogni nostra richiesta. Egli abita nello stesso stabile. Nel complesso consiglio questo appartamento a chiunque e spero di tornarci presto!!

Convenient location, comfortable apartment

We travel to Europe once or twice a year, but this is only the second time we have used VRBO. We will definitely use their services again!

Mr. Wong met us at the apartment, showed us how to use the appliances, gave us directions to local sites, and was in general extremely helpful. We were particularly grateful for his assistance on the day we left, as he helped us avoid a long delay in getting to the airport by checking the Underground schedule for us.

His apartment is conveniently located between two Underground stops, so it is easy to get to the apartment and around London.

The apartment was clean, well appointed, and contains all you need for a vacation stay.

We highly recommend this apartment and hope to stay there when we are next in London.

Nice and quiet place

Overall we were pleased to stay at the appartment, though it was a bit small, but it was not a problem at all. It was placed close to bus and Underground, and with only 3 stops we were at the Tower Bridge. There was not a lot of noise and it was quite and peaceful. Alvin was an polite and hospitable host.

South East England is a lively corner of England and it contains London, which is the capital city of United Kingdom. London is a world class city, is massive and diverse and is extremely lively that has something for tourists whatever their interests is. London has a tremendous number of historical sites which include the Greenwich Maritime Village, the Houses of Parliament, St Paul's Cathedral, The Tower of London, and Westminster Abbey.

For a more modern attraction there is the London Eye.

For music and theatre lovers there is Covent Garden in London's West End which teems with life at night. The West End has innumerable restaurants serving cuisines from many countries. China Town, a must visit place near Leicester Square, is just around the corner.

If a quiet life is what you are really seeking then South East England has some very pretty countryside.
