Bank Cottage is an 1880's terrace situated in the historic Emerald Hill district of South Melbourne.

It is an easy walk to South Melbourne's many bars, cafes, restaurants including the bustling South Melbourne Market. Convenient to public transport, Bank Cottage is a great place to stay whilst exploring cosmopolitan Melbourne.

Bank Cottage was fully renovated to include a new bathroom and kitchen, whilst not sacrificing any of its period charm. It has a huge back garden, with outdoor dining and BBQ facilities.

It is air conditioned, so winter and summer in Melbourne are not an issue,

a comfortable , luxurious lounge dining area, nice antiques and danish design leather couch and armchair.

It easily accommodates 2 couples or a small family.an extra bed can be supplied upon request

Designed with the traveller in mind, Bank Cottage is equipped with European appliances throughout the kitchen and separate laundry.

This home also serves as short term accommodation for people renovating their family home.

Perfect home away from home

We loved staying here as it was quiet and had all the amenities we needed. The area is great with walking proximity to lots of nice boutiques and cafes. The permit allowed safe and stress-free parking out the front. The house was clean and well presented, and the bed was extra comfy. Definitely would recommend this place!

Good location, comfortable stay

Thank you for a comfortable stay in Melbourne. We enjoyed the great location, and the personal attention, with recommendations to local eateries etc. We especially appreciate the pet friendly status of your cottage, it means a lot for us as we always travel with our fur kids. The cottage is well equipped, the beds were comfortable, and we would consider staying again next time we come to Melbourne. Thank you

Truly an Inner City Gem

After a long drive to Melbourne, it was a great pleasure to be welcomed by Chris the amiable host of this Victorian era property, which is tastefully renovated and fitted out with all the mod cons. Chris showed us around the facilities and provided an excellent guide on all the fine places to eat out and explore in this fantastic location of South Melbourne. Close to everything, from South Melb. markets, fine dining, great pubs, tramlines, you name it, it is within walking distance. Anyone looking for a place to have a relaxing time in the heart of Melbourne will not be disappointed.

Convenient location

We stayed for 10 days and enjoyed the great location close to trams, cafes, pubs & South Melbourne market. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and it was good to be able to have our pets with us. Was also able to park in front of property.

Great Comfortable Getaway with a Fabulous Owner

Sleek modernity with wonderful touches of home. I was greeted by Chris who gave me a tour to acquaint me with the layout and various features. The space is very inviting with warm golden wood floors and fireplaces. Bathrooms and kitchen are clean and modern, highly functional with everything one needs. The house gets great light! No gloominess whatsoever. The Melbourne Market is right around the corner with AMAZING foods and goods, a great place to buy those little gifts that one needs to take back to wherever home might be. Transportation to other parts of the city is also easily accessed, within minutes. Also, the surrounding eateries offer a myriad of choices. Everywhere we ate in the neighborhood was a treat.

Incredible House, Fantastic Owner

If I could move in, I would! This house is so well-put together. My family (4 adults, 2 children) and I were first impressed by how beautiful the house was. The restorations were artistic and full of purpose; the modern touches were luxurious and simple. There was so much space that we could all share, (or not share). I imagine that had we been there at anytime other than the dead of winter, evenings would have been spent in the backyard under the palm tree, or on the balcony at sunset. After we had been in the house for a few days it was impossible not to notice how everything, (from the paperbacks to the cookware), was carefully chosen to reflect the character of the house as well as meet the anticipated needs of a group of travelers. What a lovely place!

The location of Caldera is ideal. The neighborhood is charming- we tried to get to the South Melbourne Market each day it was open for fresh, delicious treats along with anything else you may need. There are also 2 grocery stores that you can walk to in 5 minutes, as well as many restaurants and coffee shops. If you want to get to the CBD- no worries- you can either hop on a tram for a few stops, or walk to Collins Street in 10 minutes. Anywhere else in Melbourne is easily accessed by public transportation.

Chris, the property owner, was there at arrival and was a great resource if we needed anything. I whole-heartily recommend this property to anyone traveling to Melbourne. It was a beautiful experience to come to the other side of the world and find such a lovely home to share with my family.
