This newly built ultra modern holiday home is in an elevated position in Bicheno, within walking distance to shops, cafes, restaurants, beaches and Penguin Viewing. The holiday home sleeps up to 6 persons, with two queen sized beds and the third bedroom having 2 x single beds. Enjoy the upstairs space of the open plan kitchen, dining and lounge areas which opens onto the large deck where you can sit back and relax whilst taking in the stunning view. Portable Gas BBQ supplied. Fully enclosed small rear yard area.

Avoid at all costs
Looks like a lovely property from the outside however it was a huge disappointment on the inside mainly due to the cleanliness or lack of e.g.
1) the wooden floors were ‘sticky’ to walk on with food bits on the kitchen floor
2) the kitchen benches, cupboard handles, fridge, kettle, toaster etc were unclean to the point of being unhealthy
3) the crockery was stained and 8 of the 11 tea plates were chipped or cracked and unusable, ditto the mugs and bowls
4) the bed linen, towels and coverlets were stained, one towel actually had makeup on
5) the BBQ had been left inside the main room and smelled strongly of rancid fat
We complained to the agent who sent round cleaners but honestly it would have taken 3 days to clean that place properly and indeed they told us that it had not been deep cleaned for 5 years! We were told that the cleaners have 90 minutes to clean and prepare 2 properties for the next arrivals, so no wonder it’s in the state it is, certainly not the fault of the cleaning staff but bad management on the part of the agent. The agent did provide clean sheets, new pillows and bed covers the following day but we were only there for 2 nights. The place is neglected which is such a shame as it is in a good location for the blow hole at the end of the street.
We stayed in Jan 2018 but the year is not available to chose.
I am finding this response to Carol's recent review very difficult to write. With reviews guests can write very scathing reviews but if I reply in the same manner I am questioned and made out to be a rude host. I will try and address the issues that Carol has bought up - and if I can just write that not all of the above review is correct. I don't wish to contradict Carols review as some of the issues bought up do need further addressing and these issues have now been addressed. The cleaners and the owner have been sent this review. Carol did contact our contact person mentioning her disappointment which she responded to straight away. The cleaning problems should never have been a problem and the cleaners have informed and cleaned the property, but this was too late for Carols visit. 1) The cleaners have addressed this problem 2) The cleaners have addressed this problem 3) The owner has been informed of the standard of the crockery at his holiday house. 4) The linen and towels are supplied by a Linen service and the cleaner has ample supplies not to place stained linen in the house. The linen and towels were replaced with linen and towels from the same linen service. 5) The BBQ is an issue but due to the lack of an outside storage area the BBQ is just inside the lounge / deck door just off the deck so that the BBQ can be placed outside upon arrival. The owner has requested that the BBQ be placed inside the house between guests. I must inform the the reader of this response that Carol did stay the 2 nights of her booking and yes as you can read Carol was disappointing with her stay and there were issues that needed to be addressed and the owner, cleaners and L.J.Hooker, Bicheno have done this. Please don't be put off by Carols review as Close to the Blowhole is a basic family holiday house with great views and close to the Bicheno township and has had many a happy traveler stay over the limited time this holiday house has been offered as holiday accommodation. We hope to see you soon.
Excellent position, close to Blow Hole and Shops, all in walking distance. Home was Large and with modern conveniences.
