Creeve Roe - Come and enjoy the view!

Barossa Valley, SA, Australia

  • Bedrooms3
  • Sleeps6
  • Bathrooms2

  • Minimum Stay1 - 3 nights

This open plan home, with accommodation for 6 people, is set in the picturesque Barossa Valley in South Australia, with views of rolling farmland, trees and hills from every room. Set on its own 40 acres, Creeve Roe provides privacy and relaxed living style within 10 minutes of some of the best vineyards and winemakers in Australia. The wineries span the valley between the quaint towns of Tanunda, Lyndoch, Nuriootpa and Angaston providing easy access to their shops, galleries, restaurants and home grown produce.

Creeve Roe is also just 10 minutes from Gawler a thriving country town and a further 45 minute drive will have you in the state's capital city of Adelaide, renowned for its festivals, restaurants and twinkling city lights.

South Australian weather is most frequently fine with hot dry summers and mild winters. The Barossa Valley is slightly cooler than the Adelaide plains and Creeve Roe's breezes, wide open skies, sunsets and starry nights are wonderful. The property has historic early settlement ruins and a couple of creeks to explore, or you can recline in comfort in the lounge or under the pergola and watch for the kangaroo "family" that have made Creeve Roe their home. You are also likely to see the pair of Peregrine Falcons that nest in the nearby North Para River cliffs, or any of the many native birds that inhabit the area. There's a book to help you identify them.

The house can easily accommodate 6 people in its 3 queen size bedrooms. The large family bathroom has a two person bath and a separate walk in shower. There is also a second shower room and separate toilet off the fully equipped laundry.

Built in the 1990s the western red cedar house has more windows than solid walls and a modern kitchen that is the hub of the living area and makes meal preparation fun on the expansive kitchen bench, especially with local wine, olives and cheese . The dining area has a solid red gum slab table made by a local craftsman.

The lounge room is comfortably furnished with a leather suite including 2 reclining armchairs and also a conversation corner with additional seating to ensure a relaxed stay.

The house is air-conditioned throughout with ceiling fans as an alternative for circulating the balmy evening air in summer. For those cooler days in winter, heating is in the form of a very efficient Jotul combustion heater.

You will need a car.

To get to Creeve Roe and make the most of exploring and enjoying the Barossa Valley you will need a car. There are of course a range of services available in the Barossa for those days when you plan to drink rather than drive and they will pick you up from Creeve Roe and bring you safely back. But for the every day wandering around and getting to the Valley's many attractions you will need a car ... unless of course you are as fit as a fiddle and want to ride your bike instead.

If you haven't been to the Barossa before there are 4 towns in the Valley -Tanunda, Nuriootpa, Angaston and Lyndoch and there's more or less 10kms between each of them and more than 50 wineries scattered around and between them. Not to mention Maggie Beer's Farm Shop and Cafe, or the Barossa Valley Cheese Company, or Zimmy's Pickles and Relishes.

Additional guests?

It may be possible to accommodate additional guests, by arrangement, at an additional cost of $50/person/night. Please clearly indicate the number and age of additional guests when you make your request direct to the owner.

We were thrilled with the property and it was all and more than we anticipated for a peaceful break. Our hosts went above and beyond expectations to ensure that we were welcomed and comfortable,

                                                    Everything we needed was there!

We had a lovely time staying here. Robyn had provided everything that we could think of and there were lovely touches such as an arrival cake, the fire set up and ready for use, provisions for breakfast and loads of additional kitchen supplies (even spices, sauces and pasta and sauce!) We were travelling with our 4 year old son and he enjoyed the children's story books and the bath toys available. My parents were happy with the extra bedroom radiator and the easy laundry facilities. We saw wonderful sunsets from the property and a few kangaroos! Overall a good stay indeed!

This is a picturesque location with great views . The house is big and roomy and made our stay very enjoyable . Extra special was the home made cake left in the fridge as well as the delights for breakfast

                                                    Great Place To Stay

MARILYN B.Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

The size of the house was our first surprise - it's enormous. Three bedrooms, two with air-conditioning, an enormous, well-appointed kitchen and living area as well as a fabulous view with magic sunsets really made our stay in the Barossa a joy.

One thing to note - be sure to arrive before 4pm to get the fire started in winter months. It really works well in warming the house but it takes a while. There was ample wood and kindling so getting it going wasn't a problem.

                                                    Great Property
