The Space

Why stay at a place devoid of character and history? Or be insulated in a tower with no sense of place, far removed from the essence of Sydney and its legendary harbor?

A place to call home.

The apartment is located in a quintessential Sydney peninsula, right on the harbor and next to the City. Significant majority of the houses in the neighborhood are heritage protected, retaining the original structure and history of the area and that of Sydney. The streets ooze distinctive character of yesterday, today and tomorrow, while the café and restaurant scene pulses vibrant energy that is distinctively Sydney.

The apartment is brilliantly located with one block to the famed Darling St. (where all the cafés, restaurants, and shops are located) and one block down to the waterfront Sydney Harbor. There are frequent buses and ferries to the City and various other locations in greater Sydney area.

The newly renovated apartment is bright and airy, with sunshine spilling into living room and bedrooms. The open-plan kitchen, living and dining area has a nice flow and affords easy living with extra comfort.

Rooms:

The apartment boasts two generous sized bedrooms with two queen size beds (can sleep two people on each bed). The rooms feature large windows overlooking native eucalyptus and banksia trees, and houses in Balmain/Birchgrove area.

Bed Sheets:

From my travels I have learnt to appreciate quality and comfort – a good night of sleep is priceless. Therefore in my place all bed sheets provided are designer and 5-star hotel high quality sheets – Donna Karan, Errebicasa, Garnier-Thiebaut, Sheridan, etc. I would like you to have good rest while you are here.

Kitchen:

The open kitchen was designed by a top agency to allow for modern convenience and free flow of space. The selected benchtop is of a rare marble mined in northern Australia, the uniqueness and rarity of the stone adds character to the apartment. The result transformation speaks for itself, the kitchen is aesthetically pleasing and it also became the heart of the place.

The kitchen is also fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, cutleries, plates, bowels, etc. ensuring your stay is nothing but comfortable and convenient.

Balcony

The balcony has view of Balmain/Birchgrove and North Sydney, with frequent visits from rainbow lorikeets, cockatoos, and various other native birds. The table set allows for outdoor dining or even a cup of tea!

Bathroom:

The bathroom is newly renovated to be crisp and clean with separate shower and bathtub (no need to climb into the bathtub to take a shower!). I will also provide towels for all the guests.

Wi-Fi, Blue ray DVD player

42" LG TV and Blue ray DVD player are provided. Wi-Fi is also included to make sure you are connected to the world at large.

Note: The apartment is in a boutique apartment block with only 12 units/households. It is located on the third level reachable via staircases. My friends dub it “the stairway to heaven”!

Getting Around

During your stay, you will have easy access to the City and Sydney harbor. They are right on your doorstep! Frequent city-bound buses are one block up the road and 10 minutes ride to the city center (QVB). The ferry wharf is at the park down the road from the apartment, and it provides an easy ferry ride into the City, Darling Harbor, Milsons Point/Luna Park, Circular Quay/the Rocks, Pyrmont, and Cockatoo Island.

I can also provide parking permits for street parking if you have a car.

Meet and Greet

I will meet you upon arrival and help you settle in (walk through the place, introduction of the area, transportation, etc.)

I do respect your privacy, and believe you should have the freedom to explore and enjoy your stay without obtrusion. You are more than welcome to contact me anytime during your stay if you have any question or would like more information.

Reminder...

- The apartment is a much-loved place, please treat the place like your own.

- All of our neighbors are young urban professionals, please be mindful with no noise after 10pm or before 6am. Beware of the acoustics on this street, anything that is being said on the balcony will be shared with the rest of the street!

- We live in a residential area with lovely neighbors so we would appreciate no parties, strictly no smoking (in and outside of the place), and no pets.

- Please leave kitchen clean and tidy upon departing, including plates, pots, etc.

- There is recycling for the garbage. We would appreciate your help with saving the environment by sorting recyclable waste into the appropriate bins.

*****Christmas/ New Year Holiday Period*****

The apartment is perfectly located for New Year's Eve celebration. From the Mort Bay Park 3 mins down the road, you can see fireworks from Sydney Harbour Bridge and all 6 fireworks firing from the boats in the middle of the harbour -- so you will be right in the middle of all the actions! As we will be away, we are hoping to host only one guest reservation from 24th Dec to 3rd Jan (minimal) with no change over in between. Thank you in advance, and we look forward to welcoming you to our place.

Oasis in the city

We enjoyed our stay very much in this well maintained and beautifully decorated apartment, comfy beds, a balcony for having breakfast and listen to the birds, elegant kitchen....all you need is there! Jen welcomed us with a delicious cake and gave us all the information needed and we felt like we could call her anytime for assistance. We loved taking the ferry to circular quay that takes only 10 minutes. Many shops and cafés very close on Darling St. We highly recommend this place and would always come back. Thank you, Jen!

Cosy place in an excellent spotthe best host &

The apartment was exactly what we were looking for our family! We thoroughly enjoyed Balmain & its surroundings. We hardly used the car as all we were doing was walk to Balmain wharf or Balmain East to catch the ferry into the city to go everywhere else..stunning views of the bridge! The apartment was clean & cosy and Jen is a wonderful host who readily answer to any queries.! Highly recommended! After a week going up & down the stairs , I thought I had done a lot of exercise!!:) You might even get a surprise like us! We had a surprise Zumbo cake in the fridge which my girls enjoyed so much!!! Thank you Jen! Definitely come back!

Great place to stay when visiting Sydney.

Very comfortable. Had everything that we needed. Close to many cafes and great shopping in Darling Street. Made nearby hotel Royal Oak our local and enjoyed really good meals there. Easy access to city by ferry or bus. Would certainly recommend.

Stairway to heaven.

The lovely owner of this apartment, Jen, isn't joking about the nickname for this apartment. The climb is definitely worth it.

We especially appreciated the undercover, off street parking for our hire car.

This Balmain apartment is perfectly located in every way possible. A little walk down the hill to the ferry, and a little walk down the hill on the way home from the bus service which originates outside QVB in the city. An excellent pub just a few steps around the corner and a smorgasbord of shopping just up the hill on Darling Street. If you have a car, quick and easy access to the major routes around Sydney.

Jen's apartment was spotlessly clean throughout, and well appointed with quality furnishings, comfy beds, and lots of other thoughtful inclusions. We loved the visiting lorikeets on the balcony, and particularly the leafy outlook through the trees.

The apartment could use some blinds in the kitchen and second bedroom to protect from the sometimes savage afternoon sun, and a shower curtain across the bath to add a bit more privacy. It's also hard to watch the tv in the afternoon, because of the glare, but these are all small niggles.

I stayed here with an adult daughter. Overall, we loved this apartment, and

recommend it highly.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have you at the apartment, Julie! And I'm glad to hear you have enjoyed your stay at the apartment and find everything to your liking. With regards to the blinds, they were actually removed and stored away on purpose. Past guests (who have stayed for prolong period of time at the apartment, 3+ weeks) told us the blinds were a nuisance and unnecessary. The kitchen blinds block the tree view and act as a magnet for dust and cooking grease. The blinds over the door (shades sun from TV) block exit to the balcony. Even when drawn up, it was inconvenient for tall guests to access the balcony without ducking down. And as a solution, and it is possible to shift and angle the TV to avoid the afternoon sun. Based on guests feedback and consensuses, we removed the blinds to make the apartment more comfortable for everyone. In the bathroom, there are separate shower and bath. The bathroom window is above shoulder heigh (even when standing in the bathtub). The window glass is also heavily frosted for privacy. Once the window is shut, rest assured it is not visible from the outside. I hope the explanations help to provide understanding on how the apartment is setup. I appreciate the feedback and will incorporate them in all future considerations. Nevertheless, I'm really happy you loved the apartment and are willing to recommend it to others. Great spot, lovely flat

This is a lovely flat, in a great spot. Jen did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. Travelling with two small children means a lot of luggage and we really appreciated Jen providing a high chair and Portacot to help lighten the load - doubly so given the 48 steps up! The children loved the box of toys and books Jen had left for them to find in their bedroom. The flat is moments away from the cafés, bars and shops on Darling st in one direction and an easy stroll to the ferry in the other. The pub around the corner was very pleasant and there are playgrounds all around for the children. All in all, we couldn't have asked for anything more and will certainly try to stay again next time we visit Sydney.

Fantastic apartment in Balmain, Sydney

This apartment was perfect for us - an ideal location in Balmain, close to lots of good restaurants and bars, as well as shops, and really near the ferry stop for a 10 minute journey into Circular Quay. The apartment itself was great - simply but well furnished, and a very well equipped kitchen. Our host was exceptional - let us arrive at the properly early, so we came straight from the airport, and even bought us a Christmas present!

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone.
