This 2nd (top) floor apartment boasts superb views over Mahon harbour and is set in the beautiful gardens of La Gardenia, Sol del Este. The 2 balconies at the back overlook Mahon harbour & garden while the balcony at the front overlooks the communal pool & beautiful gardens. The airy living space allows you to relax when indoors and take in the fantastic views on offer. There are 2 bedrooms - 1 double en suite (king size bed) with balcony & 1 twin with balcony, a separate bathroom, kitchen/diner with dual aspect, the living room with Satellite TV/DVD, CD player with balcony overlooking the communal pool. La Gardenia is about 15 minutes from Mahon Airport (however not in flight path - so you never hear any airplanes!) and has 2 restaurant/bars, supermarket, small cove with sun bathing areas. The pretty harbour of Calas Fonts is a 5 minute walk & it has lots of excellent restaurants, bars, shops & a great street market at night. Es Castell (also 5 Mins) has banks, bars, restaurants, shop

Another Year in this Lovely Apartment

This was the third time that we have holidayed in this apartment, and we have recommended it to other family members too. No 40 is a lovely light airy clean apartment. On the top level it has amazing views across the entrance of the Port of Mahon to the beautiful ancient fort of La Mola. It has been kept to a high standard and is modern and practical. There are numerous restaurants in the locality of Es Castell, we seem to find more each time we holiday in Sol del Este. The pool is clean and well cared for. Mahon is a lively and interesting port/town, there a lots of coastal walks, we have been horse riding this year, great scenic roads for early morning runs. We always hire a car and try and see a bit of the island but the bus service is great and it is a very easy spot to holiday without a car too. Highly recommended and already booked for next year!

A lovely home away from home

Located in the lovely fishing town of es castell. The la gardenia property boats amazing coastal views. The gardens are well maintained and the pool is a great size.

The apartment itself can sleep 4 comfortably. The rooms are basic but thats all you need. The kitchen is excellent as is the spacious lounge. All in all a great value for money property. I will be booking here again in the future

Location, location, location!!!!

Cannot fault this complex with its beautiful gardens, lovely clean pool and wonderful harbour views. The local bar/restaurant served good food if you didn't want to go too far but Cala Fonts is a comfortable walk away and there you'll find lovely restaurants and boutique shops where many items of clothing were purchased!! Mahon itself is a fairly long walk away but there's a great bus service and plenty of taxis if you're feeling lazy/tired. Mahon harbour is full of fabulous boats and there are many restaurants and shops to cater for all tastes. Can't wait to go back to this lovely area of Menorca. The only reason I have given a "4" and not a "5" for this property is because the furniture covers in the apartment smelled a bit musty (maybe needed more airing). Also being on the top floor made it difficult for 2 ladies with heavy suitcases on the narrow and steep stairs. On the plus side, Carol was very helpful, the booking process was easy and every question answered promptly. The apartment had been changed from a 3 bed to a 2 bed which meant that the bathrooms were both a good size and the kitchen/diner was larger than other apartments so, overall, I would still recommend 40 La Gardenia.

A Lovely place to stay

We enjoyed our stay in 40 la gardenia so much we have booked to go back in a couple of months! The apartment is very clean and comfortable, it contains good quality appliances with everything you could possibly need. The beds and pillows are comfortable as are the sofas. It has three balconies with beautiful views and when all are open a lovely cooling breeze blows through,(aircon not needed). The little welcome pack of grocery items is a nice touch and the information from the owner about the apartment and the area is excellent. The grounds of the gated complex are beautiful and very well maintained . Overall an excellent place to stay.

Lovely place to stay, wonderful island

The apartment was just right for the two of us, we enjoyed the beautiful views from the balconies and the quiet location. The groceries left for us on our arrival were very welcome as we reached the apartment late in the evening. The information supplied beforehand and the details available at the apartment were really helpful. It was perfectly clean and the development as a whole well maintained and attractive.

Although we'd hired a car, the bus service to the town centre was useful for evenings when we wanted to enjoy some local wine.

The time of year we were there, second week in April, suited us well as the island was quiet but had we been shoppers (we aren't!) we would have been disappointed as about 50% of the businesses were closed, even better for us! The flora was beautiful, birdlife abundant, walking superb.

Apartment No. 40 La Gardenia is situated in Sol del Este just a five minute walk from Calas Fonts & Es Castell. It is a 10 minute drive from Menorca capital Mahon & 10 minute drive from Mahon airport. Calas Fonts & Mahon have fantastic restaurants to suit all tastes. Mahon also has fantastic shops from designer to high street. It is also a very child friendly island. Mahon harbour is the 2nd largest natural harbour in the world so there is a constant flow of boats from powerboats, yachts, cruisers including cruise liners which dock with ease in Mahon (all sail past La Gardenia). Buses, Taxis & car hire are very reasonable on the island. Minorca is only 9 miles wide & 32 miles long so it is easy to explore the diverse attractions from beautiful sandy beaches to prehistoric archaeological sites. It is one of the most spectacular diving locations in the med. The island is a Mecca for families and without the pubs & clubs of other islands it is safe & welcoming whatever your age.

Notes:
No. 40 is a 2nd floor apartment and therefore accessed by steps, please consider this when booking. Once up there the views are superb though! Children are welcome (we have two young boys ourselves) and cots; high chairs etc. can be arranged. The outdoor communal pool is maintained regularly along with the beautiful gardens. Sun loungers are provided for sitting around the pool area or gardens. A barbecue is provided and many apartments make use of the beautiful views by setting up the barbecue and eating al fresco in the gardens in the evening time.
