Amazing Beautiful Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What an AMAZING House it was just as described. Secluded, Quiet, Relaxing, Plenty of room, Comfortable Beds, IMMACULATELY clean Kitchen and Bathrooms, with everything you would need. Gorgeous Gardens. Attention to detail with Fresh Flowers from the garden in every room. Lots of Intriguing and Beautiful pieces of Furniture to admire. The only regret we had was we couldn't stay longer. Thankyou Marcus for letting us share your Beautiful House. We will be back. Cheers Maree

Delightful friendly home close to gourmet produce.

  • 5 of 5

When you are staying somewhere for five nights you want to feel welcome, be comfortable and have things to do. This property delivers on all fronts.

The home is truly that - a home. It's not filled with generic white crockery and bland furnishings - you can feel the owner's love for the place and his wish for you to enjoy it too. There is everything you need - ample space, comfortable furniture, beautiful linen, excellent beds, a fully stocked kitchen (including some staple pantry items/condiments), a lovely garden, some bush to wander in, wildlife to watch, hammocks, piano, fruit trees... The house is large enough that you can always find a quiet nook to snuggle into and there are a myriad of outdoor seating areas designed to let you chase the sun or shade around with a cuppa and a book. My children loved their cosy room and there was a great stash of games/books and DVDs. They loved running around the lawn and exploring the local area - turbo chooks to chase, horses to visit, adventures to be had.

Nearby is Bruny Island with all of its natural beauty and a number of boutique producers of cheese, whisky, smoked goods and the like. A short drive takes you to Peppermint Bay (lovely food and setting), Grandvewe Sheep Cheese (divine Brebichon cheese, sheep milking, Vanilla Whey liqueur), cherry orchards, the Oyster Cove General Store (fantastic local produce), Jam and Bread in Margate (great coffee, lovely cakes, good breakfasts) and Hobart is a doddle up the Channel Hwy/Southern Outlet. A few minutes walk down the road is Nutpatch Nougat and Chocolates - walk there, so you can try more of the glorious chocolates made by Giovanni.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone looking for a tranquil (but never boring) stay in southern Tasmania. I plan to visit again.

Picture perfect country retreat

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay in Kettering - spent many pleasant hours just chilling in the house and garden. The location was great for day trips to Hartz national park, Hobart, Coal valley and Bruny Island. We also enjoyed a visit to the sheep cheese farm, vineyards and delicious dinner at the Oyster Cove Inn in Kettering. Beds were supremely comfortable - as my daughter described like "sleeping on a cloud". The children loved exploring the garden and picking fresh cherries and apricots. Thank you for a wonderful week discovering the Huon valley!

Superb stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here over Christmas and it truly felt like a home from home. We arrived to fresh flowers in every room, cherries off the tree, home-made jam and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The welcome continued with extremely comfortable beds made up with opulent linen. The house has a warm and welcoming feel to it and is well equipped to meet every need. There is lots of space for everyone both inside and outside - the only dilemma is where to relax out of all of the interesting choices - comfy couches in the lounge or window seat in the kitchen or at the table setting on the deck or comfy couch on the verandah or in one of the hammocks in the garden ... the garden is big and beautiful - lots of lawn for kids to run and play. We saw bunnies and wallabies and lots of birdlife and I was very excited to see a bandicoot one evening. The house and gardens are enough of a reason to stay here but it is also conveniently situated for day trips to Hobart and a huge highlight of our stay was taking to ferry to Bruny Island for the day. The ferry is just a few minutes drive from the house. We limited our exploration to a day in Hobart to visit Salamanca Market and our trip to Bruny Island but there is so much to see and do within a short driving distance. We would highly recommend this getaway and would definitely return!

Fantastic property! Will stay again.

  • 5 of 5

This was a very clean, well appointed, well furnished property, with lovely interior decorating, in a terrific location. I always use Stayz and this is the first time I have bothered to review. This house has everything you would need, very private, very cosy. We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children, the kids had a ball exploring the yard (and beautiful garden), and toys and boardgames, and as my son is reading Willie Wonka he was delighted to see the children's Willie Wonka doona covers. Thank you to Marcus for taking the time to call me before hand to make sure I knew how to get there and offer advice on the local area, he even had the fire lit for us when we arrived. I highly recommend this property.

A real gem!

  • 5 of 5

This property is just gorgeous, a true country cottage getaway. The fireplace was lit for us when we arrived, heaps of firewood to keep it going and was very cosy. House is actually quite large and well sectioned off. Loved brushing up on my piano playing while I was there too. Master suite is on the top floor and has beautiful views over the garden. Quality bedding and towels provided, and added touch of fresh flowers throughout the house. There are a tonne of books and a good variety of DVDs. Very close to Kettering to catch Bruny Island ferry, and not too far drive from Hobart and the surrounds.
