About Catherine Lewis
We are country people at heart and have always loved horses. In fact when my husband Clancy had to pay his way through university he started a trail riding business at Mt Dandenong. We moved from NSW 4 years ago in search of the perfect horse property to bring up our family. We found it at Chum Creek. 136aces of horse and human heaven with 9 paddocks and 9 dams. We also love great food and wine so we well placed here in the Yarra Valley. We have put a lot of love into making Chum Creek Hut a pretty special place and we love sharing this amazing part of the world with our guests.

A relaxing escape
The big comfy sofa coupled with the big open fire place were perfect for my girlfriends and I to escape and reconnect for a relaxing weekend with great conversation, great wine and some hearty board game competitions. We had a lovely stay. Thank you so much.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We loved having you!
we had pretty much a perfect time away. the cabin is great, very well equiped and didnt need anything. and the surroundings and animals made it very picturesque and entertaining. it is a short drive into healesville however we prefer it this way! thanks
We always appreciate it greatly when guests take the time to write a review. Thank you kindly.
The place was great we enjoyed our stay my grandchildren lived it
Thanks Suzanne, glad you enjoyed your stay!
My husband and I were celebrating our 25 year wedding anniversary and were delighted with the property and the romantic setting of the property. The open fire was just gorgeous we were a little disappointed with the spa, as the amount of time it took to fill due to the water pressure and the dirty water that it gave was a shame as I would of loved to of enjoyed that experience but sadly no. The split system air conditioning needed to have the filters cleaned as they were filthy and had to be removed for the system to work efficiently but only small things I thought would help with guest s in the future. Lovely charming cottage
Thanks for taking the time to write a review Steven. We have had problem with the water pressure which we have found a solution for. So for any future visits the spa should fill up a little faster for you. Our water is tank water and is perfectly fine to drink however it is stained from the oak tree leaves and is not a crystal clear colour like town water. However there is no sediment in it and it has been tested to ensure it is safe for drinking. We understand this can be off putting so we are in the process of fixing which involves moving tanks. Our tank reconfigurations should be done by Feb 2018. In the meantime we provide bottle drinking water as a backup for anyone who would prefer not to drink the water. In terms of the filters in the air-conditioning needing cleaning thanks for letting us know! Easy fix problems such as air-conditioning filters can be attended to by us on the spot so don't hesitate to let your host know of anything that can be done to make your stay better at the time of your stay. Thanks again for your review. The maintenance of any property like our ours is an ongoing process and constructive feedback allows us to continually improve the experience for our guests. Hope to see you back at Chum Creek!
My partner and I had a fantastic weekend at Chum Creek Hut. The property was full of character, comfort and class. We absolutely loved the huge fire place and the endless supply of wood. The hot tub was something special with the bi-fold windows open, the crisp winter air and the beautiful sounds of nature. The facilities were great and the bed was super comfy. The location was perfect with close proximity to Healesville, the Sanctuary and all the fantastic wineries, breweries and distilleries in the area. Absolutely perfect for a romantic weekend and would love to come back with friends at some stage. Thankyou so much for having us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chum Creek! The view of the hills & the open fire were amazing. Waking up & seeing the kangaroos were fabulous! We will definitely go back & stay there again.
