Nice property, great amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the house and there was plenty of space for the 20 of us. Everything was clean and working properly with the exception of a door handle (not a big issue). The views are fantastic and everyone loved the hot tub, steam room, sauna, and cold plunge.

Spectacular mansion!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 30 had an incredible and unforgettable time at this ostentatious cabin. The views are breath-taking, we relaxed in the steam and dry sauna, enjoyed the impressively deep cold plunge, soaked in the very large hot tub, cooked huge meals in the spacious and functional kitchen and overall made good use of the 3 story mansion. The property manager was very nice and it was easy to communicate via email. Yes, some of the bedrooms or the movie theater might need a tiny bit of updating, which might be important to some guests, but didn't bother us. Personally, I find a check out at 11am sharp a little too early, especially with a check in at 6pm. The price is steep, and that the propane for the outdoor heaters wasn't included for example, is a tad pedantic. Even though there were a few small annoyances, I will still praise this property and its management with 5 stars. This house successfully and opulently hosted one of the best weekends of 2018.

Owner's Response: We're in process of replacing much of the artwork and furnishings at the property and updating much of the decor. Early check-in time or later check-out can be accommodated, however when there is a group that leaves the same morning as the arrival, the cleaning crew needs the time to get the property turned over and perfect for the next guests.

Remarkable Property!

  • 5 of 5

This property tuned out to be a great experience for our family and friends gathering. The place is very, very large with panoramic views from every vantage point. There was plenty of room for everyone to find their favorite spot either in the great room, the bar or game room with pool table. The dinning room had a large table so that all of us were able to have a family dinner together.

The kitchen is huge with three sinks and a professional coking range. Lot’s of pots and pans and everything we needed to prepare meals for our group. Each bedroom has a king size bed so it was easy to have everyone accommodated and no one was complaining about getting “the small bed” as with other rentals we did in the past. The beds were very comfortable and nice bedding, and pillows.

The thing that we really enjoyed was the sauna, steam room and the hot tub on the deck. Very well designed and there were plenty of towels provided just for the spa area.

The property manager was very professional and responded to any questions we had right away. We were meet at the property and given a complete tour when we arrived. I highly recommend this property and we already making a reservation for next year.

best family reunion

  • 5 of 5

I was planning our family reunion for close to six month. Being out of the area, I did not know too much about Truckee and the local attractions. The property manager was very helpful in helping us organize dinners, things to do in the area and great in communicating about all of the property details.

The house was amazing. Large bedrooms with comfortable beds. lots of towels and toiletries in all the bathrooms. The house was very clean, the kitchen was stocked with plenty of pots and pans for us to prepare meals and assortment of dishes to serve to accommodate everyone. There were little extras that we appreciated, like mini refrigerators in the bedrooms stocked with water bottles, nice scented candles in the bathrooms, shampoos and lotions. The whole house is very well appointed with artwork and furniture with a rustic mountain theme. We enjoyed the decks, the views and everyone had a great tine. Thank you, thank you…

Beautiful House, Less Than Average Customer Service

  • 3 of 5

First, the house: We will say, this place is amazing. Beautiful views, clean, spacious, wonderful. There were a few things that didn't work: the outside waterfall, the outside fireplace, the bar lights, and many windows didn't open. We also had a door out to the deck that we had to force shut and keep closed with a bar because if it was cracked the cold air would come in.

Stairs: If you have someone who has difficulty with mobility such as climbing stairs, uses a cane or walker, this is not the place for them. There are A LOT of stairs in this house. We didn't find it to be difficult with our group, but I could see how some have problems.

Service: We booked the house well in advance, about 9 months. We talked about having a small wedding there but no outside vendors or guests would be participating. Just by mentioning the word "wedding" the property manager tried to charge us an additional $3500 because "wedding parties" behave differently than other family gatherings. All of the people who would have participated in the wedding were already staying there!! It was ridiculous.

Parking: THERE IS NO PARKING ON THE STREET NO MATTER WHAT THE CONTRACT OR ADVERTISING SAYS!!! We were in the middle of a nice dinner with family on Saturday night and were rudely interrupted by a barrage of text messages and voicemails from the property manager stating that there was a complaint about a car parked on the street. There was a wedding next door. Turns out that wherever the car parks, the house that it parks in front of gets the fine. He was trying to charge us $800 for the HOA fee. We said no. It ended up that my husband had to leave our dinner, go take pictures of the license plates, and send them to the property manager. Then-no response. We even tried to follow up the next day, with minimal to no response.

There are cameras throughout the house and on the exterior. We thought this was kind of creepy. Most of the ones inside of the house were pointed at the ceiling, but creeped us out a little bit-it was never mentioned that there were cameras or that we would be "watched".

The rooms and suites were very spacious and comfortable. There were enough towels for everyone. I would say, though, for a house that holds 40 people, that there is not a lot of flatware/plates/cups, etc. There are enough plates to probably get through one and a half meals for 40 people, but a lot of dishes need to be done. There are 2 dishwashers,

Owner's Response: This guest booked the property for a family vacation stay. In actuality she planned to have her wedding at the property, smothering that we do not allow. In order to accommodate the guest, we provided multiple options in Tahoe Donner, only 3-4 minute drive from the house, where they could have their ceremony and reception and still use the house for overnight accommodations for their family and friends, just as they have planned, at which point the "Bridezilla" insisted that it's just going to be a dinner party with family. Let me address some of the comments made in the review. During the snow season, the home needs to be winterized. This year winter came early and the first snow fall was in late September and by mid-October, Truckee is in snow operations mode with freezing temperatures overnight. Some things in the property are not operable during winter season and are shut down until spring. Among them is the exterior waterfall (water freezes), exterior fire pit, and some windows are restricted from opening due to their location and wind exposure. Stairs: the property is very large, over 12,000 sf and is built on 3 levels. It is not possible to build any property on a hill with views of this size and not have multiple levels, so yes there will always be stairs. They are wide and comfortable. Service: everyone is entitled to their opinion, however I would just say that when a guest is planning to deceive the property owners on their intended use of the property, invites more then doubles the number of guests that they are supposed to have at the property, and then complains about service. Well you be the judge... In addition, during their stay the guest broke the spa cover lift, the lights over the bar (as it turned out they pulled the wire out of the wall that was powering the lights in the bar), and somehow broke the door hinges leading to the deck, which we had to replace. Parking: during snow operation months, street parking is prohibited by Town of Truckee. All vehicles must be parked in driveways. Cars parked on the street are ticketed and / or towed. The ticket and tow can be as high as $800, which is what was communicated to the guest. Cameras; we have a exterior camera monitoring the driveway and snow conditions on front of property and a weather cam one in the back facing the view and airport. There are no cameras on the interior of the property.

what a beautiful place. family reunion of 30-plus (age 3mos-88) enjoyed all the amenities. it's four stories so there's plenty of space to spread out. also means a lot of going up and down stairs. we arrived a bit early but worked things out with erika the cleaning lady. no prob. vladimir even stepped in to smooth things.

hot tub, cold plunge, and sauna all delightful.

only major issue: the big commercial oven. make sure you get someone to show you how to light it. on your hands and knees whilst holding in the pilot knob above you.

oh. and the fire alarm that inexplicably went off at 5 am. it was fun to see everyone walking around bleary-eyed in their underwear. and good to know it works.

really for the price, if you have a lot of people: just about perfect.

thanks vladimir for everything.
