Overview

Lake Tahoe Area House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 10-12); big decks (3)

This is a recently updated 3 level private mountain home with views of beautiful Lake Tahoe, which is only 2.5 miles away. I've added a POOL TABLE and more new comfortable beds, a portable crib and portable high chair, and a third video game console with games (I now have Ps3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii). 2300 square feet of interior space makes it roomy. This is a freestanding private home in a private cul-de-sac on a forested mountain slope. You are surrounded by nature! There are outdoor decks on all 3 floors. Barbecue on the Weber propane grill and you can dine out on the massive middle floor wraparound deck. Enjoy the PRIVATE HOT TUB to the bottom floor deck under the cover of the middle floor deck - the hot tub is awesome when it snows!

$26,000 IN IMPROVEMENTS COMING EARLY MAY 2016:

1) A heated paver driveway. No more snow removal service in Winter. Sensors will turn on the heat and keep the driveway and it's approach dry and clear.

2) A whole house automatic natural gas powered emergency generator. It's massive and powerful enough to run everything in the house plus the hot tub. If there is a power outage, you'll never even notice.

3) A new gas stove to replace the unreliable pellet stove. Flip a switch for an instant cozy fire. This will supplement the boiler system and add ambiance and convenience.

The house sleeps up to 12 and offers tons of fun for the whole family. Shoot some pool in the new and improved game room. The house has Charter HD cable TV service for the two big screen home theaters, and high speed cable internet with WIFI. Use your Netflix or Amazon prime service for unlimited streaming high definition movies in surround sound to either of the home theaters in the house.

The middle floor - mountain living with nature! The entry is to the middle floor - the main living area plus a kitchen featuring granite counters and all the amenities for preparing gourmet meals. The adjacent great room has a hardwood floor and a dining area that can seat eight (10 is possible but tight), a lovely stone hearth with a pellet wood stove, a living area with a huge sectional couch and matching overstuffed chair and a home theater featuring a 55 inch Visio LCD High Definition TV, Stereo with Denon surround sound speaker system with subwoofer, Playstation 3 gaming system (with 4 Move controllers and lots of games) and blue ray DVD player. There is a half bath on this floor and access to the garage. The interior was recently painted and redocorated with a Tahoe Rustic Lodge theme that is really very charming. There is a massive wraparound deck for dining outdoors in summer, lounging, sunbathing, stargazing, and enjoying the beautiful views. The deck has a picnic table and patio furniture in summer, and a Weber propane grill that can be used year round. There are some filtered views of Lake Tahoe through the trees from the great room and deck.

The bottom floor features two bedrooms, one with a California King bed, 30 inch TV for watching DVD and VHS movies (not cable) and its own private deck with the private hot tub and a tiny peek of Lake Tahoe through the trees, the other 1st floor bedroom was my daughter's room and it a has a new lodgepole Queen bed and new twin over twin bunk bed. There are some kids books and toys too, but this room is also fine for adults of course. There is a full bathroom on this floor and a separate laundry room with washer and dryer, etc.

The bottom floor also has a huge (approximately 20' x 19') extra bedroom/office/home theater with two twin beds (one rolls under the other to make more space) and new Queen size hide a bed couch. This is the 4th bedroom but it has a armoire for your hanging and folding clothes rather than a closet and a dresser. This huge room also has a Pool Table, a large L shaped desk, high speed wired internet access, wireless router for WIFI, lazer printer/copier/scanner, stereo, 50 inch Samsung DLP High Definition TV with DVD/VCR and Cable TV service, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.

The top floor master suite has amazing views of Lake Tahoe! The huge master suite occupies the entire third floor and is very private, with a huge bedroom with queen bed, private deck, step down to a side room which is now equipped with a gym quality treadmill and recumbent lifecycle exercise bike, full bathroom with jetted jacuzzi tub, separate his and hers vanity, and walk in closet. On one of the two dressers I have a Klipsch portable stereo unit for MP3 players such as Ipods and smartphones. The best views of Lake Tahoe can be enjoyed from the entry of this room from the top of the stairs since it sits above most of the treetops.

This was once my home, I still visit often, and I want my guests to feel at home - which means that you will find a lot more than the usual vacation rental basic supplies. Feel free to use whatever condiments, spices, and sundries that are here. Please also be aware that you wil also find a few of my clothes in some of the closets and drawers so I do not have to pack a suitcase when I visit. There are a couple of adult size one piece snow play suits in the Master suite walk in closet that you may use. There is plenty of room for your clothes and personal items, most of it I have set aside for guests.

No smoking indoors. If you smoke, you must go outdoors to do it. There is a safe cigarette butt container in a sheltered location just outside the exterior door to the bottom floor game room/4th bedroom.

This is a gorgeous house in an idyllic natural setting at the #1 destination in the USA and you will make wonderful and lasting memories here!

Childcare services are available 24/7 at a facility in a home that is a short walk from this property. Google Daisy Day Care Incline Village.

More world class ski resorts are clustered around Lake Tahoe than anywhere in the world.

If you ski or snowboard - be sure to visit Diamond Peak in Incline Village - only 3.5 miles from this house. It offers the best views of Lake Tahoe from any ski resort and among its lifts is a high speed quad chair that whisks you to the top in minutes. The daily lift tickets are also $43 less than you will pay at Heavenly Valley. See my facebook business page for tahoelodgingonline; for spectacular photos - please like us. Also see the Diamond Peak ski resort - transferable mini passes are available that let you ski for as little as $38 a day!

Mount Rose Ski Tahoe is 10 minutes away on the way to Reno and is a favorite of Reno residents who do not know that Diamond Peak is a better resort. :) Northstar Resort is about a 20-30 minute drive toward Truckee and in addition to great skiing they offer Ice Skating and lots of nice restaurants in their village including Micuni Sushi and the Chocolate Bar. Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley, site of the winter Olympic Games are 45-50 minutes away.

Incline Village is home to some of the wealthiest people in the world, and no wonder. It is an pristine natural alpine paradise located on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, the most beautiful place in the world. The elevation at Lake Tahoe is about 6200 feet, this house is at about 7000 feet, and the surrounding mountain peaks exceed 10,000 feet, which makes for abundant snow, skiing and all winter sports in winter, and mild temperatures averaging in the low eighties in summer.

RENO (AP) — Lake Tahoe ranks first in the nation among choice vacation destinations newly ranked by a major travel website. The independent worldwide travel source put Lake Tahoe atop the list of its first Choice Destinations Awards, based on the opinions of millions of travelers.

Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North American and is approximately 22 miles long and 10 miles wide and is over a thousand feet deep. It contains more than 30 trillion gallons of water - enough fresh, crystal clear water to cover the state of California to shin depth.

On June 1, 2011 one of my guests borrowed my skis because Squaw Valley still had enough snow to open that day. On June 12, 2011 I drove from Reno and saw people sledding in the snow that lingered just off the Mount Rose Highway and the same afternoon I swam in Lake Tahoe and the pool at Burnt Cedar Beach, one of Incline Village's private beach facilities. See my facebook page tahoelodgingonline for photos of the private beaches and amenities you'll get to enjoy as my guests.

About Trevor Alt

My name is Trevor Alt and I am a 47 year old father of a 14 year old daughter, Rachel. In April of 2013 I married the woman of my dreams and enlarged my family to 6 with her and 3 stepsons that are 12, 14, and 15. I practiced law in California for 10 years and still hold an inactive membership to the California Bar, but I have made my living as a firefighter for the Reno Fire Department for 12 years, a second career that I love. I am a fitness and health nut and I exercise religiously. The better to drag you out of a burning building with, my dear. I enjoy water and snow skiing, boating, wakeboarding, golf, mountain biking, and have completed an xterrra sprint triatholon and a half marathon. This home has been in my family since 1987.

Trevor Alt purchased this house in 2007

Why Trevor Alt chose Lake Tahoe Area

My parents bought this house in 1987 and it was their second home until I bought it from them in 2007. I lived in the home full time until early 2011 and I still stay here often.

Incline Village is on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, the most beautiful place in the world. I love to hike, roller blade, run, and play golf, all of which are world class here. A very challenging bike ride is from my house to the pass on the Mount Rose Highway on the way to Reno, which is about 9,500 feet elevation. I probably hit 50 m.p.h. on the way back down and enjoyed breaktaking views of Lake Tahoe. A 12 mile round trip hike I did with my wife last summer starts at that pass and goes to the summit of Mount Rose. Amazing hike. The Flume trail is rated one of the top 5 mountain bike rides in the world and ends in Incline Village at the old Ponderosa Ranch, maybe 5 miles from my house. If you don't want to mountain bike, I suggest the challenging hike from Spooner State Park to Marlette Lake, we enjoyed that one last summer also. Pack a lunch.

Lake Tahoe is my favorite place to visit any time of the year. I commuted to work at the Reno firehouses from this home for years but when I first see Lake Tahoe from the Mount Rose Highway it always takes my breath away. A few years ago in early June I drove from Reno and saw people sledding in the snow that lingered just off the Mount Rose Highway and the same afternoon I swam in Lake Tahoe and the pool at Burnt Cedar Beach, one of Incline Village's private beach facilities. At the time I first moved here in 2001, I was an avid golfer with a single digit handicap index. I love Incline Village's golf courses which are Robert Trent Jones designs. When I had my driver working for me, I could hit balls over the netting at the back of the range. See my facebook page www.facebook.com/tahoelodgingonline

What makes this house unique

I take a moment each day I spend here to enjoy the gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe from the entry to the master bedroom. I love Incline Village's Championship golf course, nearby snow skiing, boating and wakeboarding, and Incline Village's private beaches. There are more worthwhile outdoor activities do in this area than I'll be able to do in my lifetime. The location is serene and the natural beauty of the surroundings are awe inspiring. I love sitting out on the deck at night stargazing. Thousands of stars are visible due to the elevation and lack of city lights.

I've made it so there's plenty to do if you just want to hang around the house and relax. I'm fired up about the Pool Table! There are 2 big screen HDTVs with Cable TV in HD, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Sony Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360 are great fun - I have all 3! I also have board games and love to read, so you will find at least a hundred books.

The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort Casino is only 3 miles away. In fact my parents told me that the lot for this house was won in a high stakes poker game at the Hyatt! You don't have to stay at the Hyatt to play at the Hyatt, and you get a LOT more value and comfort at my house for accommodations.

Lake Tahoe is a year round destination. In winter I enjoy skiing and sledding. The hot tub feels great after playing in the snow. In summer when it may reach 100 degrees F in Reno/Sparks, where I live and work, I can drive up to this house and it will be in the mid eighties. I launch my boat at Incline Village's ski beach and love boating in Lake Tahoe. My favorite beach in the world is Incline Village's Burnt Cedar Beach, which has a lifeguarded swimming area and a lakeside lifeguarded Olympic size pool. Both beaches are closed to the public but you get access as my guest for a small daily fee.

Golf doesn't get more fun that it is at Lake Tahoe. The ball flies goes a club farther and curves less because the air is thinner.

My son graduated from UNR and we had family coming for grad ceremonies. This is a great place to stay. All amenities plus the fun! We all enjoyed each others company without feeling like we were on top of each other. Place is clean and well maintained. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay.

Great Place to Chill in Tahoe

  • 5 of 5

Hanging out at T's home for a week while my son prepared to compete in the 2015 Ironman 70.3 Tahoe was just the recipe for family bonding, great food, great wine, and a great home atmosphere. The pictures and the description are accurate and you can see from them that the owner's take great pride in the home and that it used by them as a second home, as well. From the cleanliness and maintained furniture, the stocked kitchen (warning - you need to remember to close the cupboard doors over the island counter - kept hitting my head on them when I forgot) the family entertainment room and hot tub. Great value compared to other VRBO listings we perused...

Trevor was very personable and easy to get in touch.

Being a skier, I could see this being great for family or a friend's ski vacation - and while we didn't have a chance to use the stove - we did enjoy the hot tub!!

and, the group had a great time shooting pool (was too tired and kept nodding off in the comfortable desk chair downstairs).

The best part was the seclusion of Incline Village and the lack of the crowds that we experienced at Squaw Valley during Race Week.

The only small drawbacks - (if they even rise to that level) were being an avid cook - the knives could use a good sharpening ...and the house did get somewhat warm in the September afternoons and even with the fans running and open windows I could see that it might be uncomfortable in the heat of the summer.

Without a doubt, T's house is worth coming back to again and again.

fabulous family vacation house

  • 5 of 5

i have stayed in many Tahoe rental homes on the north shore and Trevor's home is far and above my favorite. A great location with everything for a multi generation family vacation. we love Tahoe in summer and Incline has the best sandy beaches plus Sand harbor has the rocks and the sand and kayaks and paddleboards. Burnt Cedar has the pool which is a kids dream plus the grass and the beach and Ski Beach is a great hang. I rode Mt Rose summit giving me major bragging rights and hiked miles of lakeview trails through pine forests. We cooked for 8 family every night and stargazed in the hot tub. peace and quiet with the world of Tahoe at your doorstep...perfect!

We had a wonderful, relaxing week at this house!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful, relaxing week at this house! Trevor was so on top of all our questions; you couldn't ask for a better house owner. We brought our dog which worked out very well. The pool table was unavailable because it didn't contain all the pool balls. The location of the house was great for all north and east shore activities. I would recommend this house for an active, family vacation.

Owner's Response: It turns out that a previous guest had apparently knocked one of the billiard balls off the table and it had rolled under the couch. I did however, order a new set of balls delivered to the home 2 days after I learned one was missing (I love Amazon prime). So now we have a full backup set. :)

Great house, great time.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was better than we expected. The house was very comfortable and accommodated our family well including our children and grandchildren. Trevor was very responsive to our questions and needs. He returned text messages almost immediately. We have stayed on the West Shore for a number of years but are now hooked on returning to Incline Village and Trevor's house. Burnt Cedar Beach is the best, the children really enjoyed it.

Great house and owner!

  • 5 of 5

We really had nice time there. We were a party of 12, including small children. The house was well kept and nicely decorated. It was very close from the Diamond peak resort, which was convenient for our skiing. The owner was amazingly responsive to our questions. He provided many good tips (including a nice sledding place and he let us use his sleds!) to make our stay pleasant. Thank you!

Lake Tahoe: #1 most popular destination in the USA.

Blessed with sparkling natural beauty, Lake Tahoe is considered the jewel of the High Sierra. The lake is known for the clarity of its water and the panorama of surrounding mountains on all sides. At 6,229 feet above sea level, Lake Tahoe is the highest lake of its size in the United States, measuring 22 miles long by 12 miles wide, has a surface area of 191 square miles and an average depth of 989 feet and 72 miles of shoreline.

Incline Village has a population of approximately 8,000 and is surrounded by Forest Service land. It is a quiet affluent community with a number of great restaurants, a small movie theater, 2 world class golf courses, a bowling alley, quaint shops, and good hospitality. The Lone Eagle Grill at the Hyatt in Incline Village is an great lakeside restaurant with an outdoor firepit that is a nice place to enjoy a cocktail and appetizers. There is also a pier with a bar that serves tasty food and drinks in the summer.

Next to the Hyatt is Ski Beach/Incline Beach which is restricted to Incline Village residents and our guests (such as you). There are lifeguards, sand volleyball, barbecues, a snack bar that serves burgers, sandwiches, drinks, etc., a jungle gym, and a boat ramp. There is a small daily fee. 3 miles away is Incline Village's other private beach that you also have access to: Burnt Cedar Beach. It is my favorite place in the world. Burnt Cedar Beach has all the amenities of Ski Beach but instead of a boat ramp it has an Olympic size lifeguarded pool and a kiddie pool and a roped off lifeguarded swimming area of the beach, along with a concession for renting kayaks, stand up paddle boards, etc.

Other Activities: Boating, volleyball, snowmobiling, sledding, bowling, private hot tub, golf, snow skiing, water skiing, tennis, hiking.

Sking: More world class ski resorts are clustered around Lake Tahoe than anywhere in the world.

Diamond Peak Ski resort is only 3.5 miles from my house and offers breathtaking panaramic views of Lake Tahoe and reasonable prices. $64 for an all day adult lift ticket as compared to $102 at Heavenly Valley and $104 for Squaw Valley. Kids 7-12 and adults 7-79 ski for $24 a day and kids 6 or under ski for FREE. Multi day discounts are available. Plus, Costco sells $100 Diamond Peak gift cards for $80, giving you 20% off!

Northstar Resort and Mount Rose are about 20 minutes, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Heavenly Valley and more are about 45 minutes away.

Great sledding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, etc. are within 10 minutes (the Meadow at Mount Rose right next to Hwy 431) and I have a toboggan, sleds, and saucers for your use. Rachel and I occasionally sled down the hill right next to our house. We build snowmen and make snow angels in the yard.

My parents left pairs of snowshoes at the house that you are welcome to try out and you can use my Sorrel boots. I recently learned that the Incline Village Golf courses that are within a mile of my house pack the snow on their cart paths in winter for snowshoers and cross country skiers and their driving range is open for sledding.

In summer, theatergoers flock to see the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at nearby Sand Harbor. Google it!

Winter sees snow boarders and skiers maneuvering to Diamond Peak (3 miles from my house) and Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe (10 miles from my house).

On June 12, 2011 I drove from Reno and saw people sledding in the snow that lingered just off the Mount Rose Highway and the same afternoon I swam in Lake Tahoe and the pool at Burnt Cedar Beach, one of Incline Village's private beach facilities.

Golf: The Incline Village Mountain course is the best executive course anywhere. It is less than a mile from my house.

The Incline Village Championship course is 2 miles away. Call me crazy but this golf course was one of the main reasons I originally moved to Incline Village. There is a driving range and short game practice facilities. Golf at the Championship course is especially fun. The ball flies at least a full club farther (and curves less if you slice) due to the thinner air at elevation. I have more power than finesse and have hit drives close to 400 yards and have made an eagle on the par 5 tenth hole with an 2 iron off the tee and a wedge into the green.

The Old Brockway course is in Kings Beach, a ten minute drive from my house. It is a classic layout on mostly flat land near Lake Tahoe. There is a driving range.

Edgewood Golf Course is in South Lake Tahoe, about a 45 minute drive away. It hosts the Subaru Celebrity Golf tournament each summer in July, a huge event. It is a very memorable golf experience.

There are some newer upscale courses in the Truckee area, and the Northstar course is a nice track as well.

I haven't tried out the new local frisbee disc course by the Rec center, but I've got some discs and a sachel for them and you are welcome to try them out.

Notes:
Close to Casino gaming, golf on 2 local courses, frisbee golf, spa, skateboard park, snowmobile rental, kayak rental, bowling, Shakesphere festival at Sand Harbor, Wooden boat event, America's most beautiful ride, tough mudder, xterra triatholon, boating, water and snow skiing, Flume Trail (rated one of the top 5 mountain bike rides in the world, access to 2 private beaches for a daily fee ($12 adults, $4 children under 18). If you snow ski - be sure to visit Diamond Peak in Incline Village - only 3 miles from my home. It offers the best views of Lake Tahoe from any ski resort and has a high speed quad chair that whisks you to the top in minutes. The normal resident all day rate is only $25 ($35 holiday rate) for 2012-13 and you can get that rate if you book a full week with me - if you remind me I will give you a punch card worth $165 in discounts (while they last, I have 3). I do not have central air (summer highs average 82 F). There are 4 ceiling fans. Pool table!
