Fabulous rural setting, minutes from Orange centre
About Larna Perry
I am an avid fibre artist. Love working with fibre, thread and beads. I have my own studio which I love to spend time in. The established garden on our property is a treasure and I enjoy gardening and being outside. The birdlife here is amazing so, watching and enjoying them is a blessing.
Why Larna Perry chose Orange
This property is rich in history, the main house was built in 1924 and began its life as a sheep and grain property comprising over 2,000 acres. The location is fabulous, great views and vistas giving you an ever changing view.
What makes this Cottage unique
Privacy is a great ingredient for visitors with the advantage of hosts not being far away if needed. A private garden area with the cottage gives you a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors and the views.

Absolutely no phone coverage, freezing cold and had no onslaught after checkout
Absolutely no phone coverage when I had business calls to make. Owner has his workshop right next to bedroom leaving no privacy whatsoever. After checkout I received messages about being stained. Embarrassing but I am a woman and isn’t that why there’s commercial dry cleaners. Also comments about my rubbish being ‘odd’. .... excuse me but who goes through rubbish. All we left were a number of wine bottles and food containers after going on wine tours. I would never stay at this place again
This review tells it all. We have never had a complaint about privacy. As for phone coverage this is a rural problem not our problem. I have never had the cottage left in such a state. As for the workshop no work is carried out there when guests are visiting and there is a locked door a curtains on both sides. Never has this been an issue before.
We loved it
Have stayed a few times over the last 3 years when visiting Orange. It’s a perfect out of town get away, and the hosts are always lovely.
Country hospitality at its finest
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and at home at Willawong Cottage. The cottage is so homely and was chock-filled with homely delights including jam drop biscuits. Despite the 1 degree outside, we did not need any heating overnight. The thick walls of the cottage provided amazing insulation. It was perfectly silent too. We were completely happy, comfortable and at peace in that tranquil setting.
Renate, lovelly to meet you both. So glad you enjoyed your getaway. Hope to see you again.
We had a lovely relaxing stay at Willawong. Thank you.
Tracy, lovely to meet you. Hope to see you again.
Whilst the cottage was clean and had that homely feel it just wasn’t for me.
It missed the mark with a few items:- small shower(not sure how an average sized male would fit), no reserve tissues as they ran out(ones provided were harsh on the skin), mattress just ok(hosts should consider top of range mattress), old style microwave, lounge not overly comfortable.
On my arrival I couldn’t wait to sit on the front porch with a glass of wine & cheese platter to enjoy the stunning countryside but the noise of traffic from the main road was too much to endure. I retreated back inside.
The cottage itself melt musty especially noticeable in the main bedroom that had no window to open for ventilation. No bedroom door just a draped curtain.
On the upside, hosts very friendly and accommodating. Lovely fresh mushrooms tomatoes jam and fresh bread on arrival with some beautiful homemade biscuits and Easter Eggs waiting. Some nice homely bits and pieces carefully placed around the cottage, nice touch.
As I said, just not for me on this occasion and would not recommend mainly due to musty smell & traffic noise(which I hear enough of in Sydney)
Beautiful Little Cottage
It was a pleasure staying with Larna & David. They were both really great and welcoming hosts. The Cottage was really nice with lots of little nick nacks giving it so much character. It has loads of history, i was nice really nice reading and hearing about the heritage significance the cottage and homestead. The property is located very close to the orange town centre, so getting there was easy. We had some trouble following google maps to the property, but if you look out for the sign Cottage sign it visible. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
