This property is the best of both worlds. Located in synergy of deep woods and the picturesque Cedar River, that flows in to Lake Michigan and all it has to offer, From newly built marina, lake front restaurants to a 20 minute boat ride to Door County. Dock your fishing boat, jet-ski or watercraft right on this property, and enjoy the river or the lake waters! Boat landing is less than half mile away down the river. Land your canoe, kayak or raft right from the shore of this property.
Campfire on the rivers shore or the fire pit in the back yard woods . If you like to pitch a tent chose from two tranquil streams that run through the yard.
Fishing is big here, both in the river ( stocked with trout ) and in the bay, where walleye, smallmouth bass, perch, nothern, salmon and brown trout are plentiful.
Cedar River State Park is 6 mile down the road. It has groomed cross country ski, 4-wheel and snowmobile trails.

We stayed at this cabin on Memorial Day weekend. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and comfortable. It was quiet, and the view of the river was beautiful. We were were 5 to 10 minutes from swimming, and 30 minutes from both Escanaba and Menominee. Definitely a good stay!
There isn't much else we can say about the house that hasn't been mentioned in all of their other reviews. Great place, furnished very well, comfortable and clean. We would like to mention that our visit was during January, specifically so we could check out the snowmobile trails. Being that this was the year of El Nino, the snow was quite meager. However, we were still able to ride directly from the house to the closest ATV trails. They are surprisingly quite long and pretty decent through the forested area nearby. The best snowmobiling was a very short trailer ride away on day two. We hauled the sleds to the closest trail head #2 and jumped right onto the groomed trails. Amazing trails once we found them! We would highly recommend stopping at the gas station that is closest to the house and buying a trail map. They are only $4.00, cover all ATV and snow mobile trails and waterproof! It was a fun weekend and we would go back. Thank you Daniel!
No more ruffing it for deer camp. We had 5 guys and equipment for hunting and the cottage was just like home for 10 days. We didn't get many deer, but deer camp at the cottage made it worth, we already booked for next year!
The cabin is delightful and was the perfect escape for me and my husband for a week long getaway to the UP. The description was spot on and we enjoyed the comforts of home including air conditioning, washer and dryer, and dishwasher. At the same time the cabin very much gives the feel of a northern cabin and is very tastefully decorated. We fell in love with several of the unique furnishings. This cabin is very clean and well cared for.
We really enjoyed the river right outside our front door and spent a majority of the week exploring the river via kayak and fishing (The river empties into Lake Michigan). We caught lots of great fish from the river bank and from the kayaks and saw several bald eagles hanging out on the river bank. We also made a day trip to the pictured rocks lake shore which was a beautiful trip. We also enjoyed the fire pit and grill after spending our days on the river.
There was a gas station just a few minutes away for essentials and we were able to get groceries and everything else we needed in Escanaba which was about 30 minute drive. While this was a romantic getaway I would recommend for families. We would love to bring our three teenage boys back for a fishing trip.
Dan was easy to work with and he made great recommendations on things to do during our stay. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away and enjoy all the UP has to offer.
Everything in the description of this delightful cottage was just as stated. It was in the high 80's , not a rain cloud in sight, so the a/c was much appreciated. Marina, gas station with practically everything you would need in way of toiletries & cooking supplies was just a jog down the road. They have fishing bait for sale but it is cheaper at the bait store across the street. There is also a restaurant, Sue Two, inside that has good food, but is only open till 2:00 p.m., hence, the name, I imagine. The gas station stays open till 10:30 p.m. Those were the only businesses in town. The only other restaurant was closed & is for sale. But back to the cottage...Everything you would need in way of cooking utensils was supplied. There is even a crockpot (which I didn't need to use). The w/d was very appreciated & looked fairly new. The dishwasher could use some maintenance (the rubber gasket was torn) but I chanced it & it worked fine without leaking water out on the floor. I loved the sheets on the beds! I peeked at the label , they were made by Cannon, & I intend on buying some for myself. Daniel, the owner, was very accessible and returned my calls within minutes. I would definitely recommend this vacation rental to others & I want to thank Daniel for letting others enjoy his bit of Paradise. We loved the early Americana touches throughout the cottage. The only negative--and it has nothing to do with this property--is the neighbor down the road has big trucks that he runs down the little country road at excessive speed. I guess there always has to be one devil in Paradise.
This was a perfect place for my dad and stepmom to stay while we were all on vacation. Daniel's home is well equipped, and the decor is warm and cozy. The home is located right on the river, and the views are pretty. Thanks for allowing us to rent your property!
