Perfect location at a nostalgic residence!
We stayed at the Paine residence during the last weekend of February, and it was a perfect getaway. The home is very spacious and eclectic. Honestly, I do not know of any other home that high on the mountain, and I certainly do not believe there is one any closer to the slopes. Being right across the street from Logger's Run made it so we could put our boots on and walk directly across the street to get on the slopes (direct access to a comfortable green, for beginners).
The home had everything we could want, and everything was operational and comfortable. If our whole party would have snowed up, we would have been able to make better use of the lower floor, being that it was essentially a separate apartment.
From all of us on the trip, -Thank You, Paine family, for accommodating us so well!
Feb. 2020. 💕💕💕this place! We will definitely try to rent again.
We had 12 adults stay here for the weekend. We all had a great time and will definitely try to rent here again. The hot tub, 8 person, was the best part. I saw deer outside almost every time I was in it. It is in a separate room off of the main area. There is a sauna in the room, too.
Main level - has one bedroom with a full bathroom including jet tub. It has two living rooms, a kitchen and dining area. One half bathroom with toilet and sink. One of our guys chose to sleep on the couch in the front living room. Very comfy and private.
The foyer in the front is extremely nice to leave wet boots and gear. Very convenient.
Upstairs- has three bedrooms, one with a bathroom attached. The other two share a bathroom.
Downstairs - is its own place. It’s like a separate apartment. 2 bedrooms, one with bunk beds and two singles. The other has a bathroom attached to it. There is a kitchen down there and another living room. A full refrigerator is downstairs, too. Washer and dryer is located here.
The owners are nice enough to have extra ski googles, ski bibs incase someone forgot their stuff. You can walk across the street to a green/blue/black slope. You can get your ski ticket/rent equipment there too. You don’t have to go to the main hub to get all of your stuff. We found that out too late.
I would recommend this house to anyone. My group loved it and we definitely created some wonderful memories here. I hope to create more next year!
Glad you and yours had a fine time. Staying at the Paine Family Geodesic Dome is truly a unique experience and we're glad to be able to share it!
Most Interesting House in Snowshoe
Our Family stayed here over MLK weekend and had a great time, The house is plentiful in space and layout while still being cozy. The wood stove was wonderful. Location is perfect with a very short walk to the slopes and shuttle stop - less than 1 minute. Kitchen was nice. Beds were very comfortable, the downstairs was nice for kids to play while adults could relax on the main level. The hot tub and sauna were a great addition. Plenty of parking and easy access right off the main road. Definitely one of the most interesting house designs we have ever stayed in. Highly recommended . John was available to help whenever we had a question and gave us a great intro to the house and how the hot tub and sauna worked.
The Eidson's et. all were a pleasure to have stay with us. The Paine Family Geodesic Dome seems to draw the best of guests.
Great House for several families
Big house, lots of space... it was like staying in Ron Burgondy's ski house :) John the property manager was very helpful. Has a lot of character, a bit worn out and could use a deep cleaning.
Great house w/ lots of room for a few families
Our group of 13 people (2 children, 5 teens and 6 adults) fit great in this house. I was a little worried b/c the description lacked a little info, but I am guessing it is 3000sq ft +, it had 6 bedrooms, which were normal snowshoe sized or larger. It had 3 living areas!! and 2 kitchens- both with full sized fridges. A few of the teens just slept on couches in the living areas so they didn't have to share a bed. I was worried about the beds after seeing the green carpet in the pics, but the beds were pretty good for a rental. I loved the atrium to put our snow jackets and gear and the hot tub room was fun. You have to hike across the road to get to the slopes (across the street from Loggers Run), but it isn't any further than trekking across the parking lots of Black Bear Crossing to get to the slope. And, plenty of parking. I liked that we were not on top of other units/renters. There is an apartment over the garage that is used by the owners son (daughter was there filling in for him as postmaster of Snowshoe). They are super nice, and we hardly knew they were there. We have stayed in probably over 6 different complexes at Snowshoe, and we will be back to this house for sure! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Snowshoe is undoubtedly one of the premier ski resorts in the Eastern United States with challenging runs, plentiful snowfall and 1500 vertical feet of skiable terrain. The warmer seasons offer other activities including down hill bicycling, Golfing, fishing and even Cass Scenic Railroad State Park in the valley below
