Comfortable but not luxury
Comfortable but I would not call it luxury. Miss matched linen, electric blankets in only 2 rooms. No toilet paper, no dish wash cloths or tea towells. Cheap soaps. A bit disappointed for the price we paid and what the website described it as.
Westville was a gracious old home which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who stayed. The house was easy to heat, and well provided with linen, doonas etc.
The position, close to town was very helpful.
We found Mark to be very prompt in his replies and lovely to deal with.
Only criticism was there being only one bathroom for Eight people which meant a little queueing!
In every other way a delightful and somewhat grand place to spend some time.
Nice stay and close to town which made it very practical. The property was clean and tidy the only downside was that the Austar played up and for the first two nights of our stay the wifi would not work.
James Many thanks for your feedback. I checked the Foxtel/Austar today and it simply needed to activate the channel selection to work - I had it working in 3 minutes. If you encounter this problem again, please give us a call and we will guide you through the process. It only seems to happen if there is a power outage. The Telstra Wi-Fi sometimes goes down if there has been a power outage as well. It was working perfectly when I checked this morning. You may need to switch it off and on again for it to become active again. We look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards Mark and Stephanie
DO NOT STAY HERE
We arrived to something which did not look anything like the pictures on the website- the grass was long and dead the garden was over grow and I received a spider bite walking from the car around the side to the back door.
- I couldn't get into the property and called owner to ask assistance who didn't return my call till late that night (hours later)
-The house power kept tripping off ( a number of times) and being the only person(female) in the house at the time I was left to try and find the power box to fix.
- the house ( bedrooms and hallway) is dark and very unwelcoming. The light globes are minimal strength (presuming to not trip power) but even with them on it hard to see at night time.
- It was a freezing house and cold our entire stay and blankets are extremely dusty and smelly. ( unclear when they were washed last but recommend owners address this asap)
- the television wasn't operational- we had a searching for channels screen our entire 2 night stay.
- paying $1000 we expected more then one garbage bag for the bin. The only cleaning cloth provided in kitchen was a scarier which we washed and dried dishes with and made do but still have complains from owners about not doing this correctly..
- the bathroom is small and the shower odd orientation doesn't give you much space to bend down and wash.. If your a big person- do not rent this property otherwise your showering at local swimming pool.
The owners looked for EVERY excuse to keep our deposit and happy to forward anyone email they sent us so you don't get charged for everything we have already paid for ie- crack in OLD pine timber edge trim around driveway..The chicken door stop being moved, BBQ tray not washed correctly. We had $280 of our $500 deposit taken so if you want a hassle free experience do not stay here. Mudgee had some beautiful properties shop around.
DON’T BE DECEIVED BY THIS INACCURATE “REVIEW” We could be forgiven for concluding that a guest who posts two reviews with different negative headings but the same inaccurate content is either incompetent or is on a mission to downgrade our –until now – excellent ratings for our property on Stayz. Chontelle and her party were far from ideal guests, unless you want to host guests who park their large 4WD vehicles and trailers loaded with quad bikes on your rear garden lawn, thank you in writing for their stay stating they plan to come back and stay next month, then post a review containing totally inaccurate information about your property and their experience of staying there. Rather than using the gravel driveway and undercover parking provided at the property, they chose (contrary to instructions in the Guest Confirmation Message we sent them) to park their vehicles and trailers laden with trail bikes and equipment on our rear lawn, putting indentations in it and damaging the timber edging between the lawn and the driveway, which we have been forced to replace at a cost of over $200 in materials and labour. On the day she departed the property at the end of her stay, Chontelle sent us a brief email which stated.... "Just wanted to say a big thank you for letting us rent your property over the weekend. We are looking to come back up in about a month’s time - so will keep your direct contact details if that's ok and we will book direct ". This strongly suggested to us that she had experienced a problem-free stay and was happy to book again - and her message made no mention of any of the "problems" her review claims she encountered. At no time during their stay did we receive a call from Chontelle or any of her fellow guests about the television not working, the power going off or any other problem she now claims they experienced as documented in her review. As fastidious owners of four holiday properties in the Mudgee region which consistently receive top reviews for quality, cleanliness and comfort, we were alarmed to arrive at the property soon after Chontelle's departure to find the damaged garden edging, a greasy, uncleaned barbeque, dirty dishes left in the sink, damage to the shower head in the bathroom, half eaten pizzas and used baby nappies in the recycling bins, as well as rubbish and drink bottles left on the floors and by the beds. We took photographs of the damage and mess left behind and sent these to Chontelle with a documented lis
Home away from home :-)
We had a family weekend away and Westville was just what we needed. Everything was clean, beautiful and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It was great to wonder around the garden, enjoy the afternoon drinks in the gorgeous winter sun on the veranda and feed the fish in the pond with our niece.
We look forward to going back.
Wendy was such a great host. Check in was flexible and the cottage was beautiful. Great location and easily accommodated 6 people. Would highly recommend it and definitely stay here again.
