Beautiful property, relaxing stay
My husband, 2 y.o. daughter and I stayed for a long weekend in May. It is a lovely house set on a beautiful property. I was in regular contact with Antony, the host, over our 4 day stay and he couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful. He went out of his way to make sure we were looked after.
- well equipped kitchen with everything you could need and high quality appliances
- very generous breakfast provisions provided by host
- lots of ‘extras’ like a bottle of wine, nibbles, chocolate and also things like olive oil, vinegar, a big selection of tea and coffee and jams, etc
- very comfortable beds, great quality sheets and towels
- swing-set out back – an added bonus if you are travelling with a child like we were!
- Close to many walking trails
- lovely, warm open fire (it’s huge!)
Things to consider:
- not spotlessly clean (as an example the BBQ was too dirty to use when we arrived however the facilities inside were a more than suitable alternative) not an major issue for us but may be for some
- you are asked to clean before you leave (however this means you are not charged a cleaning fee on top)
- you are reasonably far from the centre of the Barossa – it’s about a 20 min drive to Tanunda. Not an issue for us as we wanted peace and quiet and were happy to drive on the traffic-less roads and enjoy the scenery.
Thanks Antony for a lovely stay. We hope to be back one day!
Thank you for your review. Following your stay we undertaken a complete refurbishment of the property. This has included: New outdoor BBQ. Entire house repainted. New marble kitchen and appliances. All timber floors sanded and sealed. New ducted gas heating. New ducted cooling. New lighting throughout. New curtains and furnishings. Outdoor television and DVD. Wine storage units. Moran lounges. New rugs. Every aspect of the property has been upgraded to the highest possible standard. Amanda.
Lovely cozy house and brilliant location
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The house was cute. The house had great features including a lovely fire. It was delightful to sit back and get warm by the fire. The hot tub was great, especially when it was cold outside we were nice and warm in the hot tub.
The house had everything needed and the owners were lovely to provide wine and snacks and breakfast in the fridge. Very well run and organised house.
Thank you for staying with us and thank you for your positive feedback. Appreciated. A
Beautiful and relaxing
We loved LOVED our stay at the old schoolhouse. From the stunning period details (the kids were mystified by the old telephone!) to the sumptuous beds and pillows and graceful, peaceful grounds, everything was just perfect. Anthony was such a friendly and wonderful host and the kitchen was packed with goodies galore. Highly recommended- this is truly a unique property.
Dear Anna, Thank you so much for staying with us. It was lovely to have such a friendly family spend time at the property and to take such care. The house was spotless after your stay. Also, thank you for your compliments. It is very rewarding when guests have a wonderful stay and leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. You are always welcome to stay again, Regards, Amanda.
Girls weekend away
Relaxing weekend for the girls in a fully equipped house.
very nice host! a house with story! perfect!
We are a family travelling with elder and kid. Both of them love the house so much that they didn't even want to leave the house. The spa is spectacular. The shower is nice. The beds are very comfy. The host provided perfect suggestion for foods and wines, and they've been very helpful. Will definitely come back again.
Inspiring Luxurious & Enchanting Escape..........
Amanda & Antony have created the perfect balance of Historic Charm and Desirable Luxury to relax reflect & regenerate.
What is your passion?
Food? Cook up a storm in the gourmet kitchen and serve it up by candlelight in the formal dining room. Or create pizza in the Tuscan wood oven.....mama mia! Or if your a BBQ guru, dine alfresco out by the spa and bar!
Wine? Visit one of the many local vineyards & do some tasting. When you return with your bounty it can be chilled in your huge fridge or settle back in the spa while your wine stays cool in the mini fridge in the outdoor dining area.
Movies? Spoilt for choice....huge movie library with all the best releases....Can't AGREE on what to watch????? That's no problem.... 2 huge screens with sound in separate living rooms.......AWESOME. ( enjoy laying back on a stack of cushions in the king size bed with the massive swivel screen tilted at the perfect angle....queen of the remote!
Wander through the gardens....potted roses, fruit trees, mystical grass tennis court, summer green lawns, Tuscan courtyard, secret bower in the thicket, hidden cubbyhouse, ancient trees, & a bonfire pit for toasting marshmellows & playing guitar.
Discover the children who played at the Old School House. Read their words in their perfect script in old textbooks from 1926....and see their faces looking out at you from the pages of the history books provided in the library.
I cant wait to return....... Magical.
Thank you Wendy for your review of your stay. We are delighted you had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the things we love about this old homestead, particularly its history and old world charm. Thank you for being the perfect house guest, watering the pot roses in the 40 degree heat and leaving the property so immaculately clean and tidy!
