A truly unique Tasmanian riverside experience awaits.
Why Veronica Youd chose Derwent Valley
We fell in love with the location of this property with the very charming Tyenna River flowing through with a character all of its own with its everchanging personality varying from thunderous and raging to soothing and softly flowing depending of the time of year. Brown trout, Platypus, echidna's, possums, Tassie devils, wallaby all inhabit the area and can be spotted year round. We absolutely love camping on the riverbank but we decided we still needed to build a little comfort into the location so we built Tyenna River Cottage with all the comforts of home for a little luxury if we wanted to come in out of the cold. We love our time spent there and we hope that our guests do too.

A little gem in an ideallic setting
This property was amazing, if only we could have stayed longer, beautiful serenity, great amenities and only 10mins to Mount Field NP. I will be encouraging my family to use this facility. A great opportunity for a fireside BBQ by the river which is rare these days, cottage had everything and beds were super comfy 6 stars
We loved our stay at Tyenna River Cottage. The cottage is clean, modern, well equipped and warm. The breakfast essentials and well equipped kitchen were a nice surprise. The property itself is convenient to Mt Field National Park and Strathgordon/Lake Pedder as a day trip. Highly recommended.
The house has a washing machine which was much appreciated after a day of hiking, but has no dryer. This wasn't expected but would be a fantastic addition, especially for hikers in winter months.
Perfectly located, well appointed and comfy!
We will definitely be back! This cabin is perfectly secluded, yet close enough to the Spirit of Tasmania dock that you can drive there after arriving on a day boat (about an hours drive), whilst also being less than 15 mins from the front gate of Cradle Mountain National Park. The cabin itself is beautifully crafted and perfectly practical. The place was spotless when we arrived and we were provided with more than enough supplies to see us enjoy a breakfast the next morning. We will be looking to come back in Winter - the wood fire keeps the place perfectly warm and relaxed. The bedding and couch etc and all very comfortable. Highly recommend.
Hi Luke, I am afraid you have written this review for another property and mistakenly applied it to Tyenna River Cottage. I do not believe that you have stayed with us at Tyenna River Cottage. We are located at the southern end of the state 30 minutes from Hobart and certainly not 1 hour from Devonport.nor 15 minutes from Cradle Mountian.
Located just 5klm past Russell Falls and Mt Field National Park. 10 minutes to Maydena Mountain Bike Park. 1 hours to Lake Pedder and Strathgordon and The Gordon River Dam. Many fantastic varied bushwalks to choose from in the area.
