A well equipped original beach shack. It was wonderful listening to the bird song and the waves rolling onto the beach. The beach was pristine and we very rarely met anyone else whilst walking on it. Our host Peter shared his knowledge of the local area and gave us great tips on what to visit and when. He was a very entertaining host and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend a visit to this tranquil getaway.

Fabulous Beachcomber

  • 5 of 5

This place is humble, very quiet and fabulously located for people wanting to explore the region. Your host, Peter, is friendly and accommodating, but once you've had a meet and great he will leave you to your own devices. The place is very secure for people travelling with dogs and the puppies will love hanging out on the deck with you while you play a few games of darts. The photos don't do this place justice, its very comfortable and well set up. While it is a shack, we think most people would be very happy here. We loved the nearby Surfers Beach which is exquisitly pristine, in fact you can drive along the beach from Sceale Bay to Surfers Beach, its just a huge white expanse of completely unbelieveable, perfect white sand. We were here during January 2016, peak season, and it was still wonderfully devoid of people. Its such a big area and sparsely populated you will think you have everything, more or less, to yourself. Fishing seems to be very popular in this region but that is something we didn't do. However, nearby places like Point Labatt Sanctuary and a little further, Talia Caves, are very worthwhile side trips. Of course Streaky Bay is not too far away for amenities and shopping. There is no shops, kiosk or facilities in Sceale Bay. Although the public loo "Camelot" is very quaint! Highly recommend this accommodation.

Wonderful, relaxing time away!

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Beachcomber!

Really needed some R&R and time away from city life. The Beachcomber was the touch of serenity and simplicity I needed.

Great seaside location and picturesque scenery.

Remote but close enough to Baird Bay

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here to be close to Baird Bay to swim with seals & dolphins. Located one road back from the beach.

House was clean and well equipped for our needs. No washing machine but we didn't really need.

Kids room is outside but we were able to set them up on the sofabed inside.

Owner was VERY attentive and made all efforts to fix the TV for us.
