Tumblegum Cottage is nestled on one corner of Ian and Cherri's forty-acre property, Tumblegum. Set away from the main house, you will enjoy complete privacy, although you may be visited by our local kangaroos, and a variety of wild birds, which we encourage to eat from the bird feeder on the deck.

Whatever the weather, you will be comfortable and relaxed on our wide deck overlooking established gum trees and rolling hills towards the blue mountains. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable. Our guests enjoy quality furniture, glossy polished wood floors, and tasteful decoration. You are made very welcome with air conditioning or heating turned on before you arrive, and provisions for continental and hot breakfasts supplied. Home-grown flowers adorn the kitchen table, and chocolates rest on you pillow. Eco-friendly toiletries await you in the bathroom, while electric blankets, heating, and soft cosy blankets make chilly winter days something to enjoy!

Tranquil cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our teenage daughter had a fabulous 3N stay at Tumblegum. The cottage is fabulously located, very well equipped, warm and comfortable. Cherri and Ian are charming hosts and made us feel so welcome with wonderful breakfast provisions including muesli, delicious fresh eggs, chocolates, flowers and an amazing gluten free chocolate slice - thank you! Local cafes are highly recommended as is the bush barbecue which was kindly arranged for us. We would love to come back again! Many thanks.

Owner's Response: Thankyou so much for coming Grace! We've heard marvellous reviews of the quilt show so hope you really enjoyed that too. O'Connell is at its best in the autumn, but we are slightly biased! Ian and Cherri.

Absolutely stunning and outstanding location

  • 5 of 5

What a joy it was to meet Cherri and Ian and stay in their rural cottage at O'Connell. To say it is a cottage is to completely undersell the property - it is a full 2-bedroom home equipped with everything you could possibly want or need, including a fridge full of breakfast goodies - eggs, bacon, milk, bread, butter, and home baking. Very spacious, modern design and colours, huge bathroom and kitchen, full laundry, decks along 2 sides of the house and adjoining a huge national bush reserve. Consequently, the bird feeder and bird bath always had visitors calling and the large tin of bird seed was a great bonus to keep the birds coming. As well, kangaroos passed close to the house at morning and dusk and were fun to watch. The property has expansive rural views and is very quiet and peaceful. The locals at the O'Connell Hotel were very friendly and the meals there were great. And only a short 20-minute drive into Bathurst. Cherri showed us around the district and Ian went out of his way to guide us on the backroads to Mt Panorama so we missed all the traffic. We have made new friends of Cherri and Ian and we will definitely stay with them again if we are visiting the O'Connell area.

Absolutely Perfect

From the time you are welcomed by the wonderful hosts, and stepping inside the very well appointed cottage, you feel you are at home ( without the city grind).

We absolutely enjoyed every moment of the peace and serenity Tumblegum has to offer. Cherries and Ian have thought of everything to make you feel very comfortable.

The Chocolate Mud cake Cherrie baked fo Regina's birthday was big and delicious.

All round the perfect getaway !!!

Thanks for a lovely weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect long weekend escape for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. The cottage was beautifully presented with everything we needed. We loved watching the kangaroos from the deck and exploring the property. The local coffee and wine were a real treat, and we had a great meal at the O'Connell pub. We will be back for more!
