Overview

About the property

Bellingen Lemon Myrtle Farm Stay is located on a working farm just five minutes drive from Bellingen. The farm grows Lemon Myrtle and Aniseed Myrtle trees which we distill into essential oils and are available to buy. We also grow other bush foods including Davidson Plums which my husband makes into jam, and Lilly Pilly berries which we turn into cordial. We also breed specialty Dorper sheep.

If you want to get away from it all and still be close to town this place is for you. Please read the entire booking before requesting to book.

Guest check in is 2:00 pm and check out is 10:00 am. In winter check in must be prior to 5:00 pm. In summer check in is prior to 8:00pm.

The cabin is self contained, wind and solar powered, off the grid. It has a kitchenette with gas cook top and kettle as well as a bathroom. There is no microwave, oven or power points due to not being linked to mains electricity. There is a wood fired pizza oven, a gas Weber BBQ, a gas BBQ and a wood fired BBQ. We use a small gas fridge. It has a queen bed and bunks. There is no internet/WiFi available.

If you need hair dryers or hair straighteners this is not the place for you.

The property is located on a tidal billabong which used to be the Bellinger River until the 1950 flood changed the course of the river. The billabong links to the Bellinger river. We supply kayaks so you can kayak the beautiful Bellinger river. We regularly go fishing and crabbing. Jewfish, Mangrove Jack,Bbream can be caught around the corner. Punt available for fishing. Depending on the tide you can swim in the billabong or kayak out to the river to swim.

The property is only 5 mins drive from beautiful Bellingen. It is situated on the mid north coast of NSW midway between Sydney and Brisbane.

The cabin is only a five minute drive into historic and alternative Bellingen township with its many organic cafes and coffee shops, award winning restaurants and gelato bar, boutique shopping, galleries and craft shops. The cabin is a 25 minute drive to either the World Heritage Rainforest of Dorrigo or 15 mins to the beautifully quiet beaches and rivers of Urunga, or 30 mins Coffs Harbour. Bellingen has a hospital and two medical centres.

The Cottage offers the following:

•Ensuite bathroom

•Kitchenette

•Gas BBQ available if needed

•queen size bed plus bunks

•Linen and towels provided

•no internet/wifi

•On site parking

•Warm and welcoming hosts.

Swimming in summer is a 5 min kayak to the Bellinger River or 20 minute drive to to the clean and deep fresh waterholes of the Never Never River. A further 15 minutes and you reach the coastline, where kilometres of near-deserted beaches can be explored. Surfers love Hungry Head, Third Headland, Urunga Headland and further south, Valla Beach, and Nambucca Heads.

Guest Access:

Kayaks, and flat bottomed punt

Interaction with Guests:

Will greet you and leave you alone unless we need to see to the sheep especially when lambing. We are only five minutes way if needed.

Lovely farmstay

  • 4 of 5

Our little family loved our stay at the lemon myrtle farm. The cottage had everything we needed and was full of character and rustic charm. Shani was super responsive and was able to accomodate our last minute booking.

Gorgeous Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We (including 2 small children) enjoyed a lovely few nights stay at the lemon myrtle farm - a great location with beautiful outlook and the scent of lemon myrtle in the air. It was great to know we were so close to town and yet felt so secluded. Just lovely. Our girls particularly loved the sheep wandering around. Thank you for a great stay.

(Only rated lower for comfort because the basic kitchen facilities - but this is advertised - a bit more of a rustic experience.)

Relax in nature

Amazing eco-style place to stay within very close proximity to Bellingen. Has own jetty to river, wandering sheep and very chilled atmosphere. Note power restrictions in property description.

Lemon Myrtle Farm

  • 4 of 5

We stayed two nights and enjoyed the privacy of the cottage. The cosines of a warm clean bed. Morning cups of tea on the verandah. Perfectly located beside a billabong. Our only request is that the kitchen and bathroom could have been cleaner and fresh chux and scawrer etc. Otherwise we loved it. Our hosts were warm, friendly and accommodateing.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. Since your stay we have renovated the bathroom and have removed those awful motley beige tiles that never looked clean even though they were. We now have river stones in the shower and white tiles. Just a reminder that our essential oils are available to be purchased direct from us or our etsy shop.
