Talbot Hill Farm B & B

Bedrooms 2
Property type farmhouse

About the property

Self contained stone cottage situated on a 25 acre Hobby Farm just 4km south of the centre of Mount Gambier and within walking distance to the Blue Lake with sheep, goats and alpacas. This country style accommodation for 2 Adults & 2 Children offers a glimpse of farm life and is ideally situated to explore all that the Limestone Coast has to offer. Minimum stay of two nights.

Breakfast provisions to cook your own can be provided at an additional cost but as we are so close to town most quests prefer to self cater.

The entrance gate is set back from the road with a gum tree lined drive between two fenced paddocks. The farm house and cottage are at the end of the long driveway. We are still with in the 60Km speed zone of Mount Gambier.

Gardenarium and the Pot Shop look across the Bay Road at one of our paddocks. The street address is 152 Bay Road, Moorak. (most GPS's find us but put us on the wrong side of the road, however Google maps are spot on).

Please note NOT suitable for 3 or 4 Adults. Second bed is a childs bunk bed. Sorry NO pets

Nice property, needs a bit of maintenance and beetle-proofing

  • 2 of 5

The first night at the cottage we were greeted with an invasion of 'grass' beetles inside the cottage that the owner should have warned us about because they're attracted to light. They were crawling through every crack in the walls, down from the bathroom light and from both back and front doors (the screens obviously weren't secure) as well as the windows which also had screens!

It wouldn't have worried me or my husband, but my 2 daughters were absolutely freaking out because they thought they were going to wake up covered in beetles.

It was a very warm night and we couldn't open anything to get a cool breeze (note: no air-conditioning) which made the cottage uncomfortable. I must have flushed a thousand of those beetles down the toilet because I couldn't risk opening the door to throw them out because hundreds more would come in. The next morning, the ground outside both front and back doors were covered with beetles, yuk. It did ruin our experience.

Close to sights, farm animals, peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay and highly recommend. Close to attractions yet peaceful and quiet. Kids could interact with animals and loved Midas the dog! Ian & Annie were lovely hosts.

Little swing set and totem tennis was a nice bonus. Table outside was a great place to have brekkie/dinner etc.

Stayed in summer and had some days of high 30's but the stone cottage was nice and cool. A pedestal fan was provided by the host.

Lovely farm stay

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Tablot Hill Farm. Our host Ian was friendly, accommodating and let the kids feed the farm animals which was so exciting for them. The farm house was lovely, clean and had everything we needed. We'd definitely come back next time we're in Mt Gambier.
