Nice property, needs a bit of maintenance and beetle-proofing
The first night at the cottage we were greeted with an invasion of 'grass' beetles inside the cottage that the owner should have warned us about because they're attracted to light. They were crawling through every crack in the walls, down from the bathroom light and from both back and front doors (the screens obviously weren't secure) as well as the windows which also had screens!
It wouldn't have worried me or my husband, but my 2 daughters were absolutely freaking out because they thought they were going to wake up covered in beetles.
It was a very warm night and we couldn't open anything to get a cool breeze (note: no air-conditioning) which made the cottage uncomfortable. I must have flushed a thousand of those beetles down the toilet because I couldn't risk opening the door to throw them out because hundreds more would come in. The next morning, the ground outside both front and back doors were covered with beetles, yuk. It did ruin our experience.
Close to sights, farm animals, peace and quiet
We loved our stay and highly recommend. Close to attractions yet peaceful and quiet. Kids could interact with animals and loved Midas the dog! Ian & Annie were lovely hosts.
Little swing set and totem tennis was a nice bonus. Table outside was a great place to have brekkie/dinner etc.
Stayed in summer and had some days of high 30's but the stone cottage was nice and cool. A pedestal fan was provided by the host.
Lovely farm stay
We absolutely loved our stay at Tablot Hill Farm. Our host Ian was friendly, accommodating and let the kids feed the farm animals which was so exciting for them. The farm house was lovely, clean and had everything we needed. We'd definitely come back next time we're in Mt Gambier.
Relaxing stay with something to do
We love Talbot Hill Farm. This is our second stay. Secluded farm getaway where we could relax and eat or feed the various animals. Ian and Anne are so cool. We look forward to the next time we take a break in Mount G.
Perfect peaceful location
Best of both worlds. Beautiful peaceful country farm stay and close to the tourist attractions and town of mt gambier.
Great farm stay
