Catch a fast scheduled passenger or car ferry from Redland Bay to this peaceful sandy Secret Beach home set in unspoilt natural surrounds teeming with bird life. Macleay Island Beachfront Apartment (alternatively available/bookable as Yarrandabbi Dreaming B&B Retreat), offers spectacular views across Moreton Bay from all rooms & patios. Here is the ideal place to unwind, rejuvenate & indulge yourselves. (No stormy sea and raging surf - just gentle lapping of waves on our secluded, sandy, safe beach - ideal for families and fishing too).

Featuring 2 spacious Queen bedrooms, each with double Spa bathrooms en-suite and furnished patios, this home is designed to delight 4 adult guests and ensure their comfort. A maximum of two non-destructive and responsible children over 11 years are included in that number and would be most welcome.

* On-site helpful owners do laundry on request at a small charge.

Dine 'alfresco' on the BBQ deck in our warm climate, prepare your meals there too at your leisure, or just read, laze on the sun Loungers and watch the birds diving and drinking from the pool and dive in for a swim.

Things to do during your stay at Macleay Island Holiday Home include;

*Enjoy the 3 person Canadian canoe - paddle around our sheltered Bay where you are guaranteed to see several turtle and dugong (Manitee) and dolphin in season. Naturally life jackets are provided!

*Take our 4 good bicycles to explore the islands - the inter-island ferry service allowing bikes, is free. Helmets are provided too.

*Fish off the beach, or just relax there under a shady tree with a drink and book, or,

*Take the large canoe out to place a crab pot and maybe treat yourselves to the bounty next day. (We will be happy to smoke your catch also if you so choose).

* Play a friendly 9 hole game on our nearby picturesque course with a good Bistro restaurant.

*Play barefoot lawn bowls on Summer Sundays at the most scenic Bowls Club in Queensland - they have an outstanding Bistro.

*Walk around the 6.5 kilometre island's walking tracks, roads & beaches.

*Swim or lie around the pool or on the peaceful and private golden sands beach.

(As all over Moreton Bay the tides come and go). When the tide is out watch the wading birds and hunting sea birds scavenge and soar, or take the 'yabbie pump' and pump for scampi or sand worm bait, wiggle in the sand for pipis).

At the end of the day watch the sunset sky over the bay. The night sky is amazingly clear here and the Milky Way seems so close. (Who would believe we are so close to a major city with good transport links)!!

We do NOT accept bookings from 'Schoolies', bachelor/bachelorette, nor 'party' groups of young singles under 21 years of age.

Only 1 hour from Brisbane or 1.5 hrs from the Gold Coast, and accessed from Redland Bay's Ferry and vehicular Barge Terminals: Macleay Island is just 15 minutes on frequent, scheduled Brisbane's Translink public transport Passenger Ferries, or 45 minutes by hourly vehicular barges operated by Stradbroke Ferries..

Macleay Island is the yet undiscovered gem of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, lff Brisbane. It has sheltered, cove like, tidal sandy beaches. No Surf! Biking, canoeing, sailing, boating, fishing, or swimming, walking and exploring the other islands via the free interisland ferries are all popular activities. The Island is 6.5kms long and a kilometre wide.

Enjoy the spectacular maritime scenery from the friendly Lawn Bowls Club, (Club Macleay, or, play on the picturesque and friendly 9 hole Golf course. Both clubs, so very reasonably priced welcome guests and both have very good Bistro restaurants, entertainment on Saturday and Friday nights respectively, and, courtesy buses. Our Tingira Boat club has sailing on Sundays and welcomes guests on Friday nights. Other eating options are, an excellent fish and chip eatery and a Deli Cafe -located 5 mins walk around the corner from the Holiday Home. Mammas Pizzaria also does BBQ Ribs, salads and deliveries and next door is a 'wicked' bakery to indulge your anti-diet urges.

Two Supermarkets, a bakery, butchery, chemist, dentist, Doctors, ambulance, Fire and SES services, Real Estate and Post Office, Library, Yoga, Tai Chi classes, Craft groups, Organic Markets on Saturdays are all here.

There is are many talented and some famous artists' and writers' living here. Do visit the M.I. Arts Complex - a Gallery and Pottery adjacent to the Bowls Club. A Lions Club and other community organisations service this friendly and supportive community of around 2,700 people.

Macleay Island is a safe and relatively crime free community - the way things were 30 years ago. Children 'free range' under an umbrella of community caring. Doors are more often left unlocked. Our insurances are the cheapest in the region. We have left the world's problems behind us! Even our drinking water is excellent!

Be astounded by our myriad bird life in native beach front gardens amid spectacular bay scenery. Where in the world does all this exist so close to a major city!

Macleay Island Beachfront Apartment is set in native gardens and lawns, 10 metres above picturesque and peaceful Secret Beach. (See photo's). We share this beach with only 3 neighbouring acreage properties.

In this natural Australian 'Bush 'n Beach' setting you will be delighted to find over 200 species of unafraid native and sometimes rare birds, bearded dragons, blue tongue lizards and many species of frogs. Even our policies and practices are designed to be Environmentally Sustainable and our building exceeds the 4.5 Star building code. (Exceeds Cyclone standards)!

Our outlook is to the North East over Moreton Bay towards North Stradbroke Island. Prevailing breezes are from the South East and we are most fortunate to be 'wafted' by them during very hot Summer months - such a relief! This is the cooler side of the island and temperatures are generally a few degrees cooler on Macleay Island than Brisbane given these bay breezes!. We are sheltered from Southerly & Westerly winter storms too.

Winter is a glorious time to visit when temperatures range from 10 to 26 degrees Celsius with little humidity and clear skies. Bask in the warm sun relishing sea views! Summer temperatures range from 18 to 43 degrees Celsius and oft times high humidity. (Thank heavens for our Airconditioning). Our rain fall is generally during the Summer months.

Please respect the islands' environment, our bird and wild life. Leave nothing but your footsteps in the sand. Take away precious memories and a desire to return to our peaceful life.

Great hosts. Couldn't do enough for us. Lovely place. So much bird life. We all enjoyed the canoe. Saw turtles. What else could you want?
