THE best place to stay in the Mountains!!
WOW. Burnie Brae has it all - surely one of Katoomba's most magnificent Federation properties, in an incredible location, decorated with perfect period authenticity, exquisite taste and a delightful sense of humour - we loved discovering the quirky little touches to be found in every room!! And talk about luxurious - from the decadent double shower to the huge, dreamily soft bed, the kitchen stocked with everything you could want, giant comfy couches, and ducted air conditioning throughout - hugely appreciated during a winter weekend that was about as wild and windy as Katoomba gets! While storms raged outside, we were tucked up warm and cosy in our super-snug bed. The owner, Michael, was an absolute delight to deal with, generously sharing his experience of the Mountains, and very helpfully answering my enquiries over the phone. How wonderful to encounter someone who takes his guests' comfort and enjoyment so seriously! This property is a 10 out of 10 - I've tried to book here many times and missed out, so if you're reading this, don't delay! There's a reason why this property is so popular - it's THE best!!
Comfortable, cozy and close to everything. Beautifully set up with everything we needed. Would definitely stay again. Thanks.
Beautiful, comfortable house
This was a gorgeous property. Wonderfully appointed; sparkling clean bathroom; comfortable bed and warm and cosy. Great for a relaxed stay.
Great cottage for a perfect mountain holiday
Had a wonderful time at this charming cottage, very well looked after and tastefully decorated. Great place for a winter stay thanks to efficient central heating making for a cosy stay. Conveniently located in the quiet part of Katoomba, a short drive away from the Blue Mountains have to offer - definitely recommend a stay there, and will most certainly be back!
We loved staying at Burnie Brae - it is like going back in time to an era of elegance and tranquility. It’s positioned in a quiet street just a short walk to shops & amenities. The bed was comfortable and the house, a delight. The central heating kept us warm. We will be back.
bed and lounge uncomfortable
lounge was most uncomfortable. Upholstery was in need of recovering and was like sitting on a sack of potatoes.
Bed was also uncomfortable and we were unable to open window to let fresh air in. It was not an enjoyable stay. Far to expensive for what you get. Marie and Robert Tennant
Strangely I've never had to respond to a review like this one, on this site or others where I advertise (approx 220 reviews on 3 sites)
I suspect the negatively of the guests review is more based around the fact that they were unable to cancel the booking and get refunded due to the timeframes involved so then decided to do a negative review as 'payback' and 'sour grapes'
All beds at the property are under 5 years old and are medium comfort level (so not too firm and not too soft) queen pillow top. All were bought brand new from Harvey Norman at $1,800 each
The lounge is extremely comfortable and very easy to fall asleep on (so hardly potato sacks)
Ive actually run this past several guests since when I've been on the phone with them, so they have has good laugh at this description saying the potato sacks are very comfy.
The windows all open and have security bolts that are NOT locked so are easy to open, not sure where the real issue is here.
I think its best to let any future guests read an assortment of other reviews and make their own determination rather than a 'one off ' vindictive review like the one left by this guest.
