Space 1,130 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 5 nights

About the property

With unbeatable location and views, Freycinet’s Beachfront Retreat offers the perfect location in Coles Bay and base from which to explore Freycinet National Park. Set on the waterfront with direct beach access you can relax and enjoy 180 degree views of the spectacular Hazards mountain range and Great Oyster Bay.

This is unbeatable! From the back gate at the waterfront side of the property, you are a two minute walk from the secluded Richardson’s Beach set in the world renowned Freycinet National Park. This is a fabulous swimming beach perfect for families. In the other direction, a 5 minute walk takes you to an excellent, well stocked supermarket, a post office and a wood-fire pizza restaurant and cafe.

The beach house is light and spacious with high cathedral wooden ceilings over an open planned living area where you can enjoy the spectacular views of the sea and Hazards mountain range. Whilst it has been modernised and updated with flair it maintains the relaxed, beach holiday atmosphere of the original 60s shack.

A modern, fully equipped kitchen adjoins the open planned living space with a blackwood dining table that comfortably seats 8 people. The wood heater creates a cosy environment during the cooler months and a BBQ on the deck can be enjoyed over summer.

The first bedroom is on the ground level and has a queen sized bed, modern light fittings and two bedside tables. From this room you can enjoy views of the sea and a door provides direct access to the balcony.

The second bedroom is also on the ground floor and has a double bed, modern light fittings and a bedside table.

The third bedroom is a bunk room downstairs suitable for older children or adults. Beware the stair case is a little steep and a child gate is installed for little ones. There are two sets of bunks. A door allows direct access to the back garden.

There is one newly renovated modern bathroom on the ground floor. A second toilet is easily accessible just at the entrance of the house under cover.

What a wonderful beach shack.. and what a view!

  • 5 of 5

We spent our first Christmas away as a family at this great positioned beach shack. The position is excellent, especially with kids. Walk straight through the front garden out to the beautiful bay beach or take a few minutes stroll into gorgeous Coles Bay. And those views!! A lot of time was spent just staring out the huge windows and pinching ourselves! Thank you for sharing this special place with us. A treasured memory. Our only feedback would be that there were no details in the house as to when to put bins out for you and the place smelt like it had been closed up for a while when we arrived. Maybe open windows in preparation for guest arrival? Also a few of the kitchen utensils were broken or due for an upgrade. Otherwise an awesome house and hopefully we will be back.

Owner's Response: Dear Claire, Thank you for your comments and helpful suggestions. I am glad that you had a special christmas with your family! Since christmas we have updated a number of items in the house and done some further renovations. We have replaced a number of kitchen items including a good quality frying pan and a good quality knife which had gone missing. We have also replaced a number of light fittings in the kitchen, lounge and bedrooms and updated the bedside tables and lights. We have improved the patio area and also painted the exterior giving our special place a fresh look. The garden has also had some further landscaping and looks great. I will leave a notice to inform guests of garbage collection- every Tuesday night and fortnightly for the recycling. Thanks again for your comments and hope to see you back. Best wishes, Anna and Brendon

Can't say how much we loved our weekend away here. Although it was over a year ago (I kept forgetting to review!!) we still constantly talk about our long weekend get away and how awesome our home away from home was. Beautifully presented, sensational views, perfect location and all the firewood we could ask for!!! Our awesome hosts even accommodated to our needs with a late check out request! Planning our return for this summer and with all the extra space the cabin has we will be brining extra people!!!

Amazingly Beautiful Views

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time staying here. Warm and comfortable, the open fire was a feature we really appreciated with the brisk weather. Bedrooms have heaters and electric blankets (which we didn't need). The kitchen had everything we needed and it was a great place to sit around the living room with the fire and just look at that view. Abundant bird life too.

Amazing view

  • 4 of 5

We had a very relaxed two night stay as a group of four. The view was just amazing. House was warm with the wood fire and extra panel heaters came in handy for the mornings.

Sure the bathroom could use an update but it was clean and functional. Beds were comfortable and cosy. A few of the kitchen items were getting a little tired but that's going to happen. The kitchen had everything we needed to self-cater although we could have done with an oyster shucker! Overall the house met all of our needs and we would stay again if we come to the area. thanks

Ideal Location

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. An ideal location overlooking the Hazards , close to the beach and so close to Freycinet National Park. The house is well maintained and comfortable. It could do with an upgrade to the bathroom and a renewal of some kitchen utensils and appliances but overall it has a great relaxed feel with a very special view.

Thanks very much, we will definitely recommend this place to friends travelling to the east coast of Tasmania.

Owner's Response: Dear Frank. I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the magnificent setting and views. Indeed, we plan to upgrade the bathroom which should be completed this year to make everyone's experience even more comfortable. I'll be n touch regarding the kitchen appliances as the kitchen is usually stocked very well. Best wishes, Anna
