Loved every bit of our stay. The cottage/cabin was perfect and Kim was such a great host. This is a perfect location to relax and unwind, with lots provided to keep entertained. Will definitely be back

Peaceful retreat surrounded by forest

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed a repeat visit here. Peaceful surrounds, well-equiped kitchen, friendly hosts and no mobile/internet connectivity is a plus. Highly recommended!

Wonderful, out of the way, retreat that was perfect to recharge and reconnect

  • 4 of 5

Anderson's Eco retreat was a gorgeous little retreat nestled in gum bushland valley. The first thing we noticed was the silence. Even the birds seemed to be respectfully quiet as we settled in! There is a lovely little fire that heats the cabin and another outside we used to relax around with a drink and cheese platter. The cabin has a well appointed kitchen, comfortable lounge, spacious bathroom (with an awesome shower) and a surprisingly comfortable bed. For dinner we enjoyed an amazing meal at the 'Independent' (an Argentinian Restaurant - go for the chef's choice option!) and then the local pub (wonderful ambience and lovely hearty meals).

On the down side, finding the place was a challenge particularly with no Internet or Phone coverage. There is not mention of the name of the venue either on the signage only the address, so be careful to lookout for 555 rather than Anderson's Creek as you trek along the pot holed dirt track. Heating was a challenge during the night even with vigilant monitoring of the fire and tracking down wood for the outside fire was a challenge.

The distance from town is also both a blessing and a hindrance. Blessing because it means privacy, seclusion, peace and relaxation but hindrance because it is a good 20 minutes drive (down dark dirt roads with little to no signage) to get to the closest restaurants or shops. Being prepared and stocking up on alcohol and food is a must!

Back to the positives now, we loved the walks on the property especially the little stroll through the fern forest and fairy bridge at the back. The tennis court and 'clubhouse' by the pond was lovely too. We ended up a hotly contested game of darts here and enjoyed an unorthodox game of table tennis as well. The sheer beauty of the place can also not be understated. You are surrounded by tree ferns, towering gums and native grasses. We saw Willy wagtails , wombats, wallabies, rosellas and lyrebirds in our brief stay too.

Overall, we had a sensational time and would recommend this little hidden gem to anyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, my husband and I do love to share our little piece of paradise, and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. The retreat is designed around sustainability and showcases off grid living. Guests come and stay for many different reasons, some to learn about sustainable living, some for a digital detox, and others just to experience something different, that they don't have in their normal day to day lives. Some things can be more challenging like a combustion heater, once you get the hang of it, its quite easy. For the benefit of future guests however we do feel the need to clarify, Anderson's Eco Retreat is not accessed via a dirt track, but rather the main road through the Bunyip State Park. This is a 2 wheel drive all weather gravel access road. The road is signed and well maintained however pot holes are to be expected. We are not permitted to erect signage other than the street number in the State Park, this is why we provide guests with detailed written directions. We do encourage guests to read thoroughly and follow the directions, however we understand some guests can still find this challenging without a mobile phone. We thank you again and glad you enjoyed your stay. Kind regards Kim

Hospitality, nature, and perfect weather

  • 5 of 5

We’ve just arrived home from a 2-night stay @ Anderson’s. We were made to feel welcome by Greg and Kim from the get go, for which we are extremely grateful. Lovely part of the world, impeccable accommodation and a great way to relax. Even the Anderson’s dog, Rusty, made us feel at home. Thank you and we plan on coming back.
