2nd time my wife and I have stayed here, and again it was amazing, we chose a weekend that had snow predicted, and we got a lot more than we bargained for. Will be there again next year!
Hi Luke, thanks for your great review.
You certainly picked the best ☃ snowiest weekend of 2019
Look forward to welcoming you back
Cat On The Hat Cottage was very clean inside and outside.
Only a couple of issues which may help future guests! When we arrived it was dark so entering was slightly awkward with know light on, a sensor light is available but was not working so walking up to the entry could be tricky if your uneasy on your feet or if there was bad weather.
Entering a dark unknown property is also quite unnerving, there are plenty of lamps in the property so perhaps leaving the entry lamp on upon arrival would help make for a more welcoming feeling.
There was no tea or coffee and no milk which meant we had too go find a supermarket too get some provisions after dark in an unknown area. A small issue but after a long drive and freezing cold a warm drink would have been lovely.
The property was spotless and very warm once the heating was turned on, however I felt uncomfortable my whole stay as the seating wasn’t very accessible for someone who has had knee surgery so sitting on a dining chair was a bit tough over a long period.
And finally the shower although fantastic in water pressure the floor is killer once wet, perhaps a small sign saying slippery when wet might prevent accidents happening.
Cosy accommodation for 2 people
The Cat On The Hat Cottage is one side of a house about 10 minutes walk from Blackheath train station. It is the perfect size for 1 or 2 people. It consists of an open plan bedroom, living room, kitchen and a separate bathroom and outdoor area with BBQ. The apartment is very clean, extremely well-stocked, fantastically decorated (lots of cat images) and comfortable. We were there in the middle of winter and the gas heating is great. The description on Stayz needs updating as unfortunately there are no more real cats there. I highly recommend the Cat On The Hat as a more comfortable and cheaper alternative to the hotels and other properties in Katoomba that is just 2 train stops away.
Very comfortable property and close to shops and must visit sites.
Nice and cosy
It was my second time staying at Cat on Hat Hill with my fiance, and it was just as cosy and relaxed as I remembered. The last time we stayed was in 2015, and I remember the kitchen being stocked with condiments and things like butter and jam for breakfast, which it wasn't this time. That was a little disappointing, but I can understand it not continuing after 4 years, and against how lovely everything else was, I can't complain at all. I loved the access to Netflix and all of the heaters provided. It made for a beautifully cosy winter's trip away. And thank you so much for the electric blankets- wow, did they help!! Didn't see the cats, but had plenty of cat things to look at inside the house ;).
Thank you for an accommodating and warm stay :).
