Fully furnished, very comfortable, open living space. Property situated on 7 beautiful acres in the Catskill mountains with panoramic views, fresh water pond and lovely forest landscape.
Located a short walk away from Banner Hill School of Fine Arts & Woodworking and only minutes from downhill and cross country skiing, ice skating, scenic golf courses, fishing, whitewater rafting, and more.
In the town of Windham you will find a variety of restaurants, antique shops, concert halls, art galleries, wineries, theatres, and more. Year round seasonal beauty abounds, with the changing high colors of the foliage in the Autumn being an exceptional time of beauty.
Year round events and activities include: the Warrior Dash, concerts from classical music (Windham Chamber Music Festival) to blue grass music (Grey Fox Blue Grass Festival), Irish Arts Week, Oktoberfest, and Celtic Fest...as well as nearby historic sites to visit like the homes of world famous Hudson River School artists Frederick Church and Thomas Cole.
We had a fantastic time skiing at Windham over the Holidays. The restaurants we visited were all delicious-Bistro Brie &Bordeaux, Vesuvio, The Brown Bar, Chicken Run and Catskill Mountain Country Store. We are 4 adults and 1 teenager and spent most of the time on the mountain or at the house. We were supposed to be 3 more people, 2 adults and 1 child, but they couldn't join us because of work issues. The house is as pictured and very clean. There was plenty of space for us. The kitchen, dining and sitting areas are very open and comfortable. The fireplace is fantastic. We had fires in the mornings and evenings. There's a place in town where you can pick up wood. The bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of linens and towels. (We each travel with one pillow from home.) There are 4 bedrooms on the first floor, 3 are large with plenty of closet space. One is smaller with no closet , and houses the washer and dryer. The washer and dryer are large and work well. The washer is not an HE so your clothes will get clean! The queen beds are on the small side, but 3 of the rooms have twin beds which could easily be pushed together. The upstairs queen bedroom is the smallest, with no closet space. It was nice though because most of the upstairs is given to the shared living space. We didn't cook in the kitchen, but there's plenty of space to work, and very clean. There are 2 nice size decks we didn't use because it was winter. One is right off the dining area. The 2 bathrooms were clean, both with one sink, a large shower and no tub. The foyer is designed nicely for skiers. It's a large area to hang and store wet jackets, pants, boots, and helmets. The grounds are as described. There's a fire pit by the pond, and the property backs up to game land that allows hiking, hunting and fishing. Bring some orange clothes. There are some very expensive houses being built along Mill Rd. One of them has a hockey rink complete with a large score board. There was often a game being played. Now about wifi. It was slow. You could use it for emails and texts. We all travel with iPads and follow news and snap chat, and steam videos, and movies, and vlogs, and tv... We had to use cellular or it wouldn't download. Maybe wifi can be jacked up? We have Verizon, so I upped the data plan to XXL and the cellular was very reliable. Overall we would highly recommend the house and the area!!!
Five stars is not enough. Everything was wonderful. The house was immaculate and fully stocked. Extra blankets and pillows. Grounds are amazing. The pond, kayaks, inner tubes were such a bonus. Cant wait to stay here again. The speisers
We had such a wonderful time staying at this house. Its location is perfect; very quiet, surrounded by the mountain, yet close enough to the sweet town of Windham. Having a nice pond in its back yard, we really liked the house!
I don't think the pictures do justice to how very attractive and spacious this home is. We had a wonderful time here with our family and there was enough space for everyone. It's an open floor plan which makes it conducive to socializing, while at the same time, there are two patio areas where one can go for quiet time. The pond is large enough to go kayaking in and the property is well kept and peaceful. This was exactly what we were looking for.
I couldn't wait to write this review. We stayed here for a weekend and we had a blast, waking up to the beautiful scenery this property offers is absolutely breathtaking, the house is very comfortable, clean, with all the amenities necessary, when they say "just bring toiletries and food" really that's really all you need. My daughter 4 and nephew 8 years old had so much fun playing on the grounds, we had fun in the pond with the kayaks and barbecuing in the back yard. I was concerned when we first arrived that there was no AC, however opening all the windows we didn't need it, the fresh mountain air was just perfect. Appreciate that the owner Kip was readily available for anything we needed. We definitely will be coming back and we recommend it. We had a family of ten and were very comfortable, grandparents enjoyed it very much and the owner was very nice to provide me with specific information of places we wanted to visit. Over all this is a great place to spend time with your family.
