Hendersons federation home is situated along the beautiful Tamar River in Gravelly Beach, Tasmania approx. 25 drive from Launceston. The address is 309 Gravelly Beach Road but vehicle access is 2 Hendersons Lane. The original part of the house is over 100 years old, with an extension that was built in the 70’s. We have renovated but kept the unique characteristics of the home and added our own decorative touch.
The view from the front of the house is just gorgeous overlooking the palms and the Tamar River. Perfectly located on the Tamar Valley Wine Route, enjoy the scenic drive where you'll come across several cellar doors. (Feel free to ask us for some suggestions).
Hendersons has a huge swimming pool, 11m x 4m to be exact - perfect for the Tasmanian summer. There are some noodles, balls & games available in a box in the pool area for your convenience. It has a large front and backyard perfect for the kids to play around in.
Our holiday home has a large living area perfect for a comfortable stay. The dining area seats 6 but is roomy with a breakfast bar and extra seating if necessary. The kitchen is close by, with the essentials at arms reach.
Hendersons has 4 spacious bedrooms housing a total of 9 guests with hard and soft mattresses to suit most. Bedrooms 1 & 2 are at the front of the house with views of the river. Bedroom 1 has a TV and bedroom 2 has a study desk. Bedroom 3 has a double bed with bedroom 4 (kids room) has a double bed bunk with single on top.
We have recently renovated the original bathroom and added a second bathroom to the house. There are two toilets, two showers and the laundry is in one of the bathrooms. Bathroom photos coming soon..
For winter all bedrooms have panel heaters, electric blankets and extra blankets if necessary. There is a heat pump/air conditioner in the lounge room for your comfort. For summer we have portable fans if required but you can use the air conditioner as it will be more beneficial.
Complementary tea, coffee, sugar and milk (200ml) available and for your convenience snacks and wine are available to purchase in the house. If you make a purchase, we ask that you kindly leave the money on the mantel piece or on the bookshelf before you vacate please.

Property was clean, well equiped, spacious with a nice outlook to the river Tamar. The home was in a convenient location with a couple of takeaways just down the road. When we arrived the heaters were turned on and the house was nice and warm.
Fantastic Federation style accommodation, with modern furniture, comfortable beds, and great views of the river. Could not ask for any better, only wish we had time to stay longer. Thank you Shirlene, we will definitely be coming back.
LOVE... LOVE... LOVE
Not sure what the review below is on about... because my family & I had a wonderful stay at Hendersons. It was beautifully presented, clean & tidy on our arrival. Its stylish, comfortable, cosy & had a brilliant feel to it, as it's decor and styling suits the federation house. We loved the renovations & the touches you have added. We found all the beds comfortable & had a soothing sleep on our stay. Hendersons had everything you needed, from cooking essentials, to a DVD player for the children, books, BBQ, pamphlets for attractions around the area, wine and much much more! The bath was a great for the kids to use and we found the shower very simple to use. We would definitely recommend Hendersons to others as it is great for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of the Tamar Valley. Thank you Shirlene for accommodating us & helping us with anything we needed.
Lovely Federation style home. Spacious, clean & comfortable accommodation ideal for families well stocked with plenty of the "essentials". Shirlene was wonderful at supplying a fan for the kitchen/dining very quickly after we returned one day & it was very warm inside & also came round very quickly to help us work out the washing machine. However we were very disappointed when we arrived after 16 nights in absolutely fantastic accommodation, Hendersons was such a let down for us when we were looking forward to something special on our last 4 nights in Tassie. The first thing was almost tripping on the broken & sunken area of cement path as we carried our luggage in & again at a later time. It's very dangerous & needs repairing. No garden, all the grass was dead & immediately reminded me of home where we'd escaped from after having so many days of over 35/40°. Then we walked in the door & saw the cheap panelling on the wall & louvre door on the bathroom. It was definitely the worst shower on our entire trip including the 3 nights in the caravan park cabin. The more hot water you put on the less pressure you got & it was also a knack to get it hot enough without scalding yourself in the process. The bathroom door was terrible – every time you closed it fully it would come off the track & swing in the breeze. Some of the furniture looked like it came from a 2nd hand shop & the mattresses on the beds were on a par with the caravan park cabin. The beautiful “solar heated” pool was freezing cold even after a day of clear sunny skies. Doubted that it even worked as we couldn't hear any pump going to get the water up through the solar system on the shed roof. The BBQ igniter didn't work so you had to use matches but you couldn't even get to the burners without lifting up the BBQ plate which was quite difficult. The CD player only worked on 1 of 6 CD's. In conclusion it was very disappointing for our last 4 nights in Tassie & we certainly would not return.
Such a beautiful house! It’s equipped with everything you could want and the pool is lovely! Great location to explore Launceston and the Tamar Valley too.
So glad you enjoyed Hendersons and it was great you had a lovely time exploring too. You're most welcome to come back anytime. Kind Regards Shirlene
