About the property

Relaxing and private, overlooking the Hawkesbury River, clean comfortable cabin

Ideal for couples or families looking for a unique experience to rest and relax among nature!

Riverview Nature Retreat enjoys a private elevated position in amongst 6 acres of natural bushland overlooking the majestic Hawkesbury River and picturesque valley below. There is private shared access to the river for picnicking and a concrete boat ramp for convenient access for waterskiing, jet skiing, fishing, kayaking or exploring the waterways. This part of the Hawkesbury is wide and enjoys lots of boating and other watersport activity which is wonderful to watch by the river or from the property’s vantage point. The river is an easy stroll through the picturesque country road, be sure to say hello to the horses, or a quick drive if you’re carrying equipment or a picnic hamper.

Easy 90 minute drive from the centre of Sydney

Riverview Nature Retreat is a peaceful red-cedar cabin tucked away off Greens Road, Lower Portland which can be accessed in two ways - via Windsor (no ferry crossing – around 40 minutes from Windsor) or Wiseman’s Ferry (ferry crossing at Webbs Creek- around 15 minutes after crossing).

Enjoy spending time together reconnecting with your partner, family or friends!

The double storey cabin is inviting, cute and cosy. There are French doors leading into the open-plan living area. The timber and stone kitchen is typically country as is the bathroom. There is a slow combustion fire place in the living room for those chilly nights.

There are two generously sized bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom downstairs. The main bedroom upstairs is furnished with a queen bed and a private sitting area. The twin bedroom is furnished with two double beds. Both bedrooms have their own reverse cycle air-conditioning units and ceiling fans for summer and winter comfort. The third bedroom downstairs is furnished with one queen bed with French doors leading outside. It also has a ceiling fan and shares the downstairs air-conditioning unit.

There is an outdoor entertaining area equipped with a Weber BBQ and outdoor seating to enjoy alfresco dining while watching the boats, skiers and kayakers go by. In winter, there is an outdoor fire-pit to gather round story-telling or roasting marshmallows. The outdoor area around the cabin is fenced to keep toddlers and pets in check (yes, we are pet friendly).

then you've come to the right place to find it again

The perfect rest retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed here and both times it has been hard to leave. Unlike many other so-called retreats we have stayed at, this one feels like it has been wonderfully cared for and is inviting. Perfect if you want quiet, nature and a very comfortable and roomy place to rest.

A Lovely Place To Escape To

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Riverview. The cabin is equipped with everything you require for a short stay with a lovely clean and cosy feel. Its a bit further out than what we expected, but its the perfect place to 'retreat' to. If you're visiting in winter, make sure to take warm clothes, it was chilly up there.

Lovely break

  • 5 of 5

Love this place. Feels remote but neighbours aren't too far away. The house is spotlessly clean and the gardens are full of flower pots/fruit trees etc. It's obvious the owners love this property and really know what they're doing when it comes to hosting guests.

They've thought of everything.

Labels on all switches make life a lot easier and was pleasantly surprised to find the pantry and freezer contained tea, coffee (instant AND real), sugar, sauces, spreads, oils, and even some bread, ice cream and bacon for guests as part of a lovely pay to forward system.

The beds are comfy and the air conditioning is fantastic (much appreciated on a 41 degree day).

The fenced yard was also great for the pooches.

Only one thing - the noise from myriad speed boats on the river does carry up to house. It wasn't an issue other than being very noticeable on Australia Day (which is to be expected on our national day of boating!) but just worth noting if you're after total peace.

Would love to return. Thanks to the owners for making this such a great little getaway.

Second time I've stayed, won't be the last

  • 5 of 5

I've now stayed twice, seeking the comforting solitude of endless time by the fireplace (indoors and out), days spent cooking in the very well equipped kitchen and over the fire pit outside, and mornings woken up by cockatoos and wildlife in the area. Just outside mobile range, it really is such a comfortable place to feel relaxed and a tad detached from the daily grind. Maria has been exceptional in both stays making sure everything was in its place and ensuring I was fully accommodated. Can't say enough - enjoy your stay!
