Simply Amazing !!!
Kim is wonderful, caring and accommodating and the cottage made us feel at home. From 3years old to 50 (with a 7 and 19 years old in between) we all LOVED IT!
A granny flat not a cottage - close to beach but next to main house and road
It was an interesting stay at this property. If it was advertised as a granny flat we would know what to expect..we were looking for a relaxing comfortable peaceful stay and didn’t feel this property did that for us. The property is suited for a family that need somewhere to sleep and will be outdoors all day/ bed early rather than a family that may not want to spend all day out and about. The living room is very small with a couch for 2 people. The kitchen was small - had everything you need but not user friendly I.e no counter space- didn’t encourage you to cook. There was room outside / garden area to have a bbq but you were a few meters from the mainhouse and the road very close so need to keep an eye on kids if they are small- didn’t have the peaceful tranquil surroundings or views. In the evening there is no light to want to relax outside but the carport next door lit up so you looked onto 3 or so cars parked outside. In mornings we were woken up to neighbours swearing loudly each morning. No WiFi if want to watch the footy. On the other hand it is very clean and has a laundry if you need it and opposite are stairs leading to a beautiful beach.
We are very proud that we have a little piece of history as the original Ranger’s Cottage at Berrara which dates back to early last century.
We have been gradually refurbishing the Cottage over the last few years, upgrades planned for this winter include a new kitchen and air conditioning. A revamp of the outside area will follow. We also have a three seater lounge ready to go which hopefully should make family holidays more relaxing and comfortable.
Our property is advertised as ‘not fenced’ because we enjoy the local kangaroos coming and going almost daily. We often see cars pulling up across the road for photos.
The outdoor light is motion sensor activated but the setting can easily be changed to stay on continually. Up until now we have done this on request but after your comments we will see if it can be made an outside switch (another winter project). There are also three battery powered lanterns to add atmosphere to the outdoor area right beside the BBQ.
This Easter was a very busy time for our area, as Berrara is becoming more and more popular. Our noisy next door neighbours were also visitors and we would have spoken with them if you had raised the noise issue. We have lodged an official complaint with their Holiday Let company and have a hotline number to call if the situation ever arises again.
As we live in a regional area we don’t have the broad band width to share our WiFi so we haven’t advertised that it’s included in our rental. Interestingly, a lot of people prefer the idea of not having WiFi on their holiday break to improve family communication. For that unmissable footy game, the two local clubs are quite family friendly and have Foxtel etc.
We always try to greet our guests when they arrive to explain the amenities and always ask that they contact us if there are any issues or things required to make their stay happier. We are sorry if you didn’t have a peaceful and relaxing stay but pleased that you enjoyed our beautiful beach opposite. We love Berrara and want everyone else to love it and take advantage of everything it has to offer.
Lovely little cottage in a beautiful spot! :)
Lovely little cottage in a beautiful spot! :)
Very relaxing and quiet
Absolutely loved staying here. Very easy check in. Very polite owners, kids enjoyed being able to have freedom of the yard and just play around. Very close to the beach. Will definately recommend this to other family and friends. Will defs be bringing my family back very soon
Beach is right across the road!
A small, quaint cottage that has everything you need. Such a beautiful area with Kirby’s beach right across the road and down the steps. Kim was a fabulous host offering to be there for whatever you need. We had family come down for the day and Kim even came to tell us where the board games and extra outdoor activities were. Beautiful outdoor area where we had most of our meals. Washing machine a bonus with 3 kids. Had such a lovely time there, swimming, exploring fossils, fishing and walking to the mermaid rock pool. Definitely recommend!
Berrara is part of the secluded coastal village of Sussex Inlet, we are lucky enough to be host to some of the best swimming water and beach fishing on the south coast. There are surf beaches as well as a tidal lagoon for swimming and water sports. We also have the beautiful Swan Lake at Cudmirrah, only a few hundred metres down the street. The lake has some stunning Flora & Fauna and is home to a wide variety of birdlife. It plays host to a number of water activities including sailing, swimming, water skiing, fishing, kayaking & stand up paddle boarding. There are plenty of places set aside on the edge of the lake as well for family recreation.
The broad expanse of St George's Basin is slightly to our north & is easily accessible from our many boat ramps on the tidal canal in Sussex Inlet. The Basin offers amazing water panoramas and is ideal for all water sports.
There are loads of local walks to do in the area but most notable are the Berrara Lagoon to the Mermaid Pool walk, roughly a 3 km return walk on the pristine Berrara Beach to the rock shelf at the far end where you will find Mermaids Pool, a rock pool big enough for the whole family to take a dip. And the Berrara Headland Walk that follows the beautiful Cudmirrah beach continuing along to the rock platform at the end of the beach where you can explore the small rock pools & also see fossils. This area is part of the National Park & fossils must not be removed.
We have a BMX Track & Skate Park located at the Thomson Street Sporting Complex Sussex Inlet for children & adults to enjoy along with Tennis Courts for hire. There is also the Sussex Inlet Aquatic Centre, that is an indoor heated pool, at the Sporting Complex.
We enjoy cycling many of the Conjola National Park Bike tracks.
Another incredible attraction in our area is the local kangaroo population. Its wonderful to watch them grazing in the park lands & even on our lawns!
