Whale Watch House - Binalong Bay

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Whale Watch House is a holiday home, located at Binalong Bay, in Tasmania's exquisite 'Bay of Fires'. The house is situated just 100 meters from the water's edge, separated only by a coastal forest walking track to Skeleton Bay. It has secluded ocean views over Skeleton Bay from the deck and most rooms.

Spanning three levels, Whale Watch House comfortably sleeps eight guests. The home has been tastefully decorated. The main level has one King bedroom, main bathroom, lounge and kitchen\dining area. The top level has one bedroom, and cute attic area, perfect for kids to play. The lower level has a double bedroom, second bathroom\laundry, kitchenette, and large rumpus area with two single beds.

The home is bright and sunny, capturing the first rays of sun in the morning. Breakfast on the deck with that breathtaking view over the ocean, is a special treat. A ten minute stroll from the property puts you on beautiful Binalong Bay Beach, or the outstanding Binalong restaurant where you can enjoy coffee or dinner. Along the way experience the sounds and smells of the beach, the unique coastal flora and a playground for the kids. Long white quartz sand beaches, pristine turquoise and crystal clear waters, orange hued boulders and quaint coves to explore. If you are a fisherman (person) bring your gear.

Binalong Bay is Tasmania's top holiday destination and many Tasmanians have holiday homes here. Summertime sees the population of Binalong Bay explode. St Helens is a ten minute drive from 'Whale Watch House’. St Helens is the largest town on Tasmania’s east coast featuring beautiful Georges Bay. It has supermarkets, restaurants, hotel and bottleshop, various retail shops, bakeries, coffee shops, a newsagency and fresh fish from the fishmongers on the wharf. A beautiful golf course is also in St Helens. There is an A.N.Z. bank as well as a library with internet availability and a regional hospital.

There are many places to visit within an hour or so of Binalong Bay. One hour to the south along one of the most scenic drives you will ever have is Bicheno (Pronounced Bisheno). Bicheno is a smaller town than St Helens but has all the usual outlets of a holiday township. There are many attractions and sights in and around this town which make it one of the most visited tourist towns in the state.

Another twenty minutes south is Coles Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula, more stunning scenery and fabulous walks in the national park including famous Wineglass Bay.

To the north of Binalong there are plenty of beaches, bays and inlets to visit. The Gardens is a stunning area of the Bay of Fires.

Half an hour takes you to the 'Pub in The Paddock', with great counter meals. Nearby is the Pyengana world acclaimed cheese maker.

The Welborough Pass is half an hour from Binalong and is a place of immense beauty. The road passes through some of Tasmania’s tallest and most ancient trees, stop at the nature trail and take the short walk through the moss and lichen draped Myrtles, Sassafras and Eucalypts.

Visit the old tin mining town of Derby. There is so much to see, and still within one hour drive of Binalong Bay.

Don't rush, take your time, Binalong Bay is the perfect base to locate yourself as you visit all that the east coast has to offer.

Large living area with plenty of firewood. Lovely bush setting overlooking a secluded inlet. Steep driveway and narrow stairwells a little challenging for 70+ mum, but overall clean and homely.
