The rates for Hazards Homestay are based on four guests staying and not two then $25 per extra person per night as is often the case elsewhere.
Designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, our comfortable home has decks on three sides accessed by sliding doors at the back and front. In addition to providing privacy, the extensive plantings of native trees, shrubs and grasses around the home attract a variety of wallabies, possums, parrots, wattle birds, cockatoos and many others. It is possible to identify ten or more species of birds whilst enjoying breakfast on the deck. After dark you are sure to see wallabies and possums grazing on the grass at the front. On a moonless night the back deck is perfect for viewing the millions of stars not visible from a city because of light pollution.
Our holiday home is a fully equipped house. The large open plan kitchen, dining, lounge area has a cathedral ceiling and a wood heater that can be used to warm the house. There are three bedrooms; one has a double bed, another has a queen size bed and a single bed whilst the third bedroom has two bunk beds and a single bed. In total four singles and two double beds. If you are able to supply your own sheets, pillowcases, towels and tea towels then we will be able to offer much earlier access and later leaving from our holiday house. If not, please let us know which beds you intend to use and we will prepare them for you and supply towels and tea towels. All beds have quilts and pillows and extra blankets are stored in the double bedroom wardrobe. We can also provide a portable cot. There is a large fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area. The bathroom has a shower, hand basin and a washing machine. There is a separate toilet. The firewood is stacked near the water tank. Before guests leave, we do ask that you leave the shack in a clean, neat and tidy condition.
The Swanwick golf course is very close and there is a set of clubs and buggy behind the bathroom door for you to borrow. A boat ramp is at the Swan River in Swanwick and two boat ramps are about 3 kilometres away in Coles Bay. Great Oyster Bay is about 15km long and 8km wide and is sheltered by the Freycinet Peninsula, making it perfect for boating, fishing or just enjoying the magnificent scenery. Around the Coles Bay region it is easy get to the many stunning beaches with beautiful white sand derived from the red granite which form the magnificent Hazards. Well maintained tracks allow access to the iconic Wineglass Bay and across the isthmus to Hazard Beach and to more beaches further down the peninsula.
Information about many aspects of the Freycinet National Park will be sent to you after your booking is confirmed and additional maps and brochures are available from the Parks and Wildlife headquarters next to the entrance to the park past the Freycinet Lodge. This where you can purchase your National Park entry pass.
Because of the nearby conservation areas and the National Park status of the peninsula, we do not allow pets at our holiday house. Plenty of native animals are already living there! Put some bird seed on the feeding platform and water in the tray to see if you can attract any birds.
Should two bookings be received about the same time, the longer duration booking will take precedence and be accepted.

good base to explore Freycinet National Park
an extremely clean, comfortable and very well located property that enabled us to easily access the Freycinet National Park each day. The accomodation was excellent with 3 bedrooms and each room accomodating 3, 3, and 2 people to sleep.. The kitchen and living spaces was also roomy and meal preparation was easy with EVERYTHING you would need to cook anything.
This property would suit families or even 2 couples very well. I wouldnt look anywhere else if I was returning to the area as this was a good find.
Thank you Sophie for your vey positive feedback and for looking after our holiday home so well. I hope you will visit again sometime. Best wishes Liz and Mike.
Great place to stay
Great location for things to do in Coles Bay.
Clean spacious and well suited for couples and families and the wildlife was a added bonus.
Very nice, comfortable, big and clean.
It was a nice stay since it had a big lounge and 3 bedrooms and a lovely backyard. The whole family enjoyed it.

Holiday Haven with Great Privacy
This very well kept home is tucked away on a private block surrounded by native trees and shrubs. We enjoyed all the comforts of home : warmth from a very efficient wood heater, a well equipped kitchen and three bedrooms, one for each couple. It was during the Olympics so we watched the flat screen TV quite a lot, but also went walking at Friendly Beaches and along the coast near the homestay.
A Great Find
We had booked for two nights, but on arrival extended to three because we were so impressed with the house. It is in a private and quiet location. Well positioned for visiting all that this part of the world has to offer. We used the Queen sized bed, that was very comfortable. The house is well equipped and the wood fire really makes it cosy in colder weather. It isn't modern but is quiet , comfortable and spacious. It is great value for money.
Thanks Peter for your very positive review. Please visit again.
